stop by this bakery to get some coffee, and I was pleasantly surprised at the variety and baked goods. The owners seem to be French, and although there was a little bit of a language barrier, the coffee and the pastries were really excellent. There was a lot of people sitting outside, which means that naturally this place was delicious. I really loved the Nutella they used on the croissants and the dolce. The baked goods in this place were very tasty. Everything was fresh and the customer service was top notch. Must tries include the guava and cheese danish and the rolls. Would like to try breakfast here in the near future so please base this review just on the baked goods. They have a good selection and they have products that are exclusive, such as tea and coffees. Plenty of parking and open most of the day from about 7am to about 8pm most days. They had a buy 2 get 4 special when I went. So disappointed! Ordered eggs Benedict .. told it would take a few minutes ...though there was only one couple behind us..after a fifteen minute wait the couple received their food . Great Cuban coffee and decent baked goods. Empanadas are good too. I have eaten their arepas and breakfast but its not very good. Older fellas playing backgammon outside half the time but convenient location with parking availability. Dont go expecting a fancy coffeeshop rather a neighborhood type of place. Just visited Sunny Isles with my family last week from California and we were looking for a snack and we walked into this place and were greeted by the sweetest couple. They didn't speak English but they offered us a sample of they're in house made cookies and it was delicious, then i pointed to an almond cake and they sliced a piece and gave me a sample. A predominantly Venezuelan bakery with Argentine facturas, and a vast sandwich menu (two Cubans). This is your place to get the cachito/arepa/empanada/tequeño/golfeado fix in the Aventura/Sunny Isles area. And good thing too! The tequeños were tasty (even those a day old and at discounted prices surprisingly - just heat them up in a pan at home), pan dulce (?) were thin and had raisins. The empanada was good - good corn dough and cheese as well. The cachito tasted standard in a good way. I had those four things, plus a cappuccino and it came out to be less than $10. Can we say AMEN together, please? (Plus, they'd overlook the $10 minimum requirement to use the credit card if you order all this ;-)) So yup, you have it... now you know that at least in Miami-Dade, every 60-100 streets, you can find a Venezuelan bakery. Oh, and before I forget, the added bonus is this shopping strip has a Peruvian & Colombian restaurants, two Russian markets, a Russian bookstore. Ethnic diversity and more good eats is enough for me to get me to come back! And as far as "Manhattan" being in the name of the place, this is the part of Miami where the love affair with New York seems to be the strongest - but has nothing to do with things American. There's also a New York deli nearby and all they serve is East European goods. Oh well, c'est la vie Miamense! NOTE: Comparison with Moises: bigger and newer looking establishment - and more crowded - the line went out the door when I was here but not at Moises. Surreal place. Just got some pastries here. The woman at the front counter was rude and dismissive in a way that felt genuinely jarring and bizarre. We asked her what the fillings were in some of the empanadas that were not well labeled and she responded in a rushed, dismissive, angry tone. Then while we ordered she started tapping on the counter impatiently. Like I literally don't know what her problem was. It was not even busy! There's no explanation or excuse for this kind of uncalled for rudeness, especially at a place of business. I've never experienced this in Sunny Isles before. I dont know why the reviews for this place aren't higher. The food is really good and the delivery (which is usually what I do) is fairly quick compared to other spots. They have breakfast all day but also have great sandwiches. Their arepas are delicious and the breakfast selections never disappoint. I recommend the criollo breakfast - it's a lot of food so you could eat for two meals (and it's only $10!) I would also say you have to get one of their fresh juices - the carrot/orange classic is really good, but my fav is the green juice. They don't overdo it with the kale so it still tastes fruity and super yummy! The only issue I have had is that sometimes the delivery is a bit messy when it arrives. Pros: Manhattan Bakery is great for coffee, a snack or a light meal. The service is cordial and quick enough, depending on the time of day. Don't expect to walk in and out in the late afternoon, when regulars take over the patio to gossip and people-watch. The patio seems to be a good place to catch a glimpse of real life near Miami Beach. Though most of what you will see is a parking lot and high-rise condominiums, you'll be lucky to catch a glimpse of regulars who visit here or the popular Russian restaurant a few shops down. Cons: This venezuelan cafe is nondescript in name, location, decor, & menu. They serve empanadas, sandwiches, arepas, pastries & probably more. Its decor gives vibes of a chain-restaurant, which would match up with its impersonal name; but nothing else suggests this. I would love to know how "Manhattan Bakery" got its name or how/when it started. This kind of personal touch might make a world of a difference to an otherwise indifferent cafe. read more

Located in a nondescript RK shopping center in Sunny Isles, Manhattan Bakery is definitely a hidden gem along the Collins strip. It would be a great place to grab some food to take with you to the beach. I had a decent sampling of the Venezuelan specialties on the menu. The arepas came with a variety of stuffings, including carne mechada, pernil and also a variety of cheeses, like Gouda, Queso Guyanesa, and Queso Paisa. The arepa itself was a little dry, but they have a tangy guasacaca that you could add for flavor and moisture (Guasacaca is an avocado and garlic based sauce from Venezuela, this one seemed to have mayo in it). The highlight for me was the Spinach Cachito, which was rich and creamy with plenty of spinach flavor as well. We ended up getting two more. The tequenos were good and the pan de queso was also tasty. The pollo empanada was fine but not special. Service was very accommodating and friendly, I definitely recommend stopping by for a snack or an inexpensive lunch. read more

Tried this place with a few friends and everyone agrees - it's a must if you're in the neighbourhood. The empanadas were a hit with all of us, but mine, which was stuffed with beans, plantains, cheese, and pulled pork, was epically delicious. I insisted everyone have a bite of mine and they all agreed it was the tastiest. I then immediately regretted sharing it as it was the last one and they are not all that big. Then again, it always feels good to be right. I'd never tried a cordita but I would come back every day for one of these tasty little coffees. They also serve breakfast all day and the woman serving us was pleasant, helpful, and knowledgeable. The only let down was the pastelito. My friend ordered the spinach one and it tasted like warm spinach and not much else. Would have benefitted from a lot of seasoning. Went today looking for the Classic Venezuelan " Pan de Jamon" and did not mind waiting 20 min for it to be out of the oven! Delicious, perfect ratio of ham, olives and raisins! We usually make our own but this one for sure it's one we'll go back to buying! Took home also a little bit of " ensalada de gallina" which was really good and fresh. While we waited had tequeños and they were really good as the rest of the items we got. The owner greeted us together with the staff really nice and friendly.
