Carries an assortment of good brands and products. Expensive prices, assumed due to scarcity of market. Customer service is not good. Even worse if you've already spent money. I was constantly interrupted and spoken over as I asked simple questions, even when it was accepted that I would not receive my money back for a product that I could not use. Difficult to get expertise or valuable opinions on products from people working here as they do not use a vast portion of the products that are sold. This past Wednesday I decided to take a chance with both visiting and purchasing items from this Norfolk Virginia (East Little Creek Road) location of Manhattan Beauty Supply. The employees I interacted with andor received help from were cordial. I had purchased some Diane brand 2 qyt 10 pack curl rollers, a Kalissa wigpop brand wig, a wig cap, some multiple hair headband accessories in blue red and black colors, Eco brand black castor & avocado oil hair gel, African Pride brand Moisture Miracle Rose Water & Argan Oil soft & smooth curl mousse 8.5 fl oz, Annie brand soft twist roller set (at least 42 twist roller set pieces of approximately 7 inches long). The store had a top notch variety of hair products, hair wigs, clothes, jewelry and even a vast variety of hair relaxers of various company brands. Obviously, I am happy to have taken a chance with visiting here and I intend to keep a receptive mind to visiting again sometime in the near future. Went to this store Wednesday in the middle of the day when it was very slow. Ive been coming here for 4 years ever since i moved here and I am a fan! But after yesterday...Im so disappointed. Came to pick up a few things for my hair and this younger guy Indian asked me if i needed anything and I said no. He gave me a smile and pretended to walk away. (Clearly saw him watching me when i was the ONLY one in the store...) I get it people steal but being a business owner myself, thats not how you do business. The make things worse, he saw me walking towards the front to look at the acrylic nails and not even 30 seconds later, he asks me if I needed a cart (i had 4 smalls things and I told his absolutely not, thanks. THIS MAN PROCEEDED TO TAKE EVERYTHING OUT OF MY HANDS and says "I'll put this at the front for you :)" I've never felt more discriminated against in my life. The husband and wife who are the owners should be ashamed to have that young man working there. He got scared that I was going to run out with the product so he takes everything out of my hands. I've paid HUNDREDS at a time at this store for awhile now and even planned to buy bundles here the next day but absolutely not. Will not be returning to this business who has that man working and obviously has no history is customer service. Shameful. read more

So while out and about last Saturday afternoon, my wife wanted to stop by the Manhattan Beauty Supply Store. I had absolutly no reason to go here because it is a womens beauty supply store. and I didn't think they would have anything for me. Though my only thoughts were I'll be waiting while my wife had a field day with my hard-earned-money. I was the good husband and hung out with her. While she was shopping away, putting me in the "poor-house" I came across some mens shaving products that I could use for a really nice price. I thought to myself in my Forrest Gump voice "that's good!" Anyway I looked around the store and it was like a beauty supply store on steriods. They had wigs, extensions, weaves, hair care products, brushes, combs and a make up counter where you women can get your sexy on. They even put the make-up on for you, you don't have to do a thing. I was startled a little when we walked in because every employee greeted us with a "WELCOME TO MANHATTAN BEAUTY!" I almost used the bathroom on myself. Speaking of the bathroom, that is what I needed to do anyway. A bubbly employee directed me to a very clean restroom. You know I actually had fun in here. The store is big and well lighted. Friendly employees and great service. My wife got everything she wanted plus some. Guys, if you take your lady here, be sure and have some extra money cause she may just spend away in here. We drove to Norfolk from Hampton for some other reason but this place is even worth the drive by itself. Surely five stars. I'll go back again, if I have too. Happy Yelping! read more

My favorite section is the wig department, though, and there are so many beautiful human hair options! i've never seen a hot pink HH wig until I went here...it was gorgeous. Went in store an it was huge, which is very nice. I didn't see anyone to point me in the right direction, after a lil while I heard a voice that welcomed me, however the voice was so far away. I looked around saw a woman scurry about her business, I made my purchase & left. Had there had been a sales person to help me I might have actually spent more. Well I figured no big deal, let me try them a second time months later which is today. I heard them on radio & they are close to my house, I went in again to look at the wig selection an get some costume jewelry. The store is huge which is great, but hard to find the sales people. I know what I'm looking for when I step inside, I need sales person to point me in the right direction. I don't like being in any store all day. Well the jewelry is in the back, by the time, I had found it an a young man on the phone said "hello" to me quickly as he walked passed talking on the phone. The manager did my eyebrows yesterday, and she completely ruined them. She filled them in before I left, in gonna assume she did that to cover up her mistakes. I called the next day to get my money back and was told I was ghetto. She yelled at me over the phone and called me ghetto. I will be disputing this with my bank, the customer service sucked.
