I went here for many, many years and always loved everyone there. Then suddenly things changed and the dentist I saw was abusive and mean. I asked for someone else but still this dentist insisted on seeing me and telling me off in an angry manner. I have never had a dentist talk to me in such horrible way. We all know going to the dentist can be stressful and a hassle but Manhattan Dental Care made it as easy and painless as possible. I got a Reminder for my appointment the day before, was welcomed by name the moment I walked into the office (and this was my first visit), had thorough X-rays taken, and then had an amazing session with the dentist. In the past i have had super painful and aggressive cleanings that left me dreading ever having to go back again. But this one was so gentle and thorough and he went above and beyond to address my personal needs and requests! I'm for sure going back as a regular and would highly recommend them! read more

I hadn't gone to the dentist for a long time, mostly because of my negative history with dentists and medical care in general, but I am so glad my first trip back was to Manhattan Dental Care. Everyone there is helpful, clear, and most importantly, patient with nervous people like me. Aspects of scheduling, dealing w insurance and payment, and most of all, treatment, all great. It's comfortable, and Cheryl the administrator is patient and courteous with all my requests for appointments, rescheduling, scheduling, and insurance follow-ups. I was recommended to Dr. Jacobs, but I started with Dr. Park, who has been very thoughtful and sincerely concerned about the treatments, and their durability. She took the time to scrape in some particularly tricky areas beneath my implant and around my wisdom teeth - I feel she dug into every nook and cranny. I have been a patient at Manhattan Dental Care for about 10 years. My dentist was Dr. Jacobs and after she left I saw Dr. Cheung. My last visit is why I left and am now seeing Dr. Jacobs again. I get my teeth cleaned every six months. At my last appointment Dr. Cheung told me I needed four fillings and two crowns. I had just been there six months before, had x-rays taken, had an exam done by Dr. Cheung and was told nothing was wrong. I spoke with coworkers, who are also patients of Dr. Cheung, and they have had the same experience. Unfortunately some of them have already had their crowns and fillings done. I googled Dr. Jacobs (her new practice is also in the neighborhood ) and paid for another exam with her. Only one tooth needed a filling, the other 5 teeth do not. Dr. Alisa Neymark decided it was "best" to redo my old fillings before anything else so I thought this must be okay and a good idea. I should have gotten a second opinion from another dentist before agreeing to the procedure. (I did ask three dentists afterward and they all said "If your filling is fine and the tooth isn't bothering you, it's best not to touch it."). I wish I hadn't agreed to the procedure. She must have drilled too close to the nerve in the filling removal since it was a highly uncomfortable procedure, the most discomfort I've ever had at a dentist. Also, it is now almost 2 months after the "new filling" procedure and I still can't chew on that side of my mouth since the tooth is very sensitive now. Rudest receptionist. She barks on you to finish paperwork and has the worst attitude. Every time I picked up my phone she yelled at me to hurry up! I was looking through my phone to get information for the paperwork - what did she think I was playing scrabble?! That office is filled with women and since I work with an industry full of catty women I could tell the attitude I was receiving was because of how I looked. Sat down in the dentist chair as the doctor spoke to me about treatment that she said she wouldn't be able to do since she had another patient. But I had gotten there 15 minutes prior to my appt like I was directed in order to fill out the paperwork. Why wouldn't they tell me to sit down first and I'd finish the paperwork after? Waste of time. Then to get charged for a completely pointless visit? Psh. **UPDATE** So after being rushed out of there and told that they couldn't give me a crown on tooth #2 because I needed another root canal on #3 -- I just left an endodontist that confirmed I DO NOT need a root canal. Those b-words basically just didn't want to do any work on me and sent me on another pointless dentist appointment! WASTE OF TIME!! I was very disappointed and never visit Manhattan Dental Care again for following reasons: *The reception is not trained, they force me to sign and write down unnecessary info that are not required from persons who have an insurance. *I was diagnosed by a receptionist before showing my teeth to the doctor. Of course it was all wrong. Ridiculous! *I made an appointment with Dr Jacobo because of this Yelp post as several people recommended her. However, I understood she is not for everybody. Dearest Hygienist, You should read this review because you are the single greatest human being cleaning teeth right now. You also have the prettiest nails. I felt like a rock star after my teeth cleaning and you were SO fast! The receptionist is also nice and I never have to wait long to get in the dentist chair. I have a pretty horrible dental plan with aetna dmo. Manhattan dental was nicer than any other office id been to under my plan, in a nice doorman building. Reception was clean and friendly. Jennifer, the assistant who cleaned my teeth was thorough and made it as pain free as possible. I saw dr jacobs briefly to discuss a filling I needed done. Because of my insurance, it is going to cost 115, a bit steep. Dr. Jacobs seemed very nice. I was in and out of the office in under an hour. Pleasant experience, which I don't say often about the dentist... I found this office on account of yelp reviews so I felt it was only fair for me to post my feedback. I literally just left the office and couldn't wait to come on here and tell everyone about what a great experience I had. I had a cleaning and initial x-rays/consultation. I met with the hygienist and Dr. Jacobs. Both were the sweetest! Once the dr. explained what I would need done, the receptionist was able to tell me right then and there what my out of pocket cost would be and was able to map out my appts for me. This place was such a breath of fresh air after my previous subpar dentist! Growing up, I had very poor dental hygiene and no dental insurance whatsoever. You can only imagine the kind of toll that has had on my health and self esteem. After a rather terrible experience at another dental clinic (I got a "cleaning" that didn't really do much at all), I switched to Manhattan Dental on the recommendation of friends. The location and staff are excellent, everyone is really warm and no one is trying to swindle you by offering useless procedures. 5 stars for great service, seeing me on schedule & for professionalism of staff! Today was my first visit to the office. I actually selected this office as my PCD due to the Yelp reviews I saw. I scheduled a month or so in advance due to availability (Plan Ahead). I arrived about 20mins before my scheduled time & filled out the new patient forms. (Note if you do not have a specified copay you will have to fill out a financial form & provide credit card information). After I finished I was seen on schedule for my appointment, I can't tell you how refreshing that was! Jennifer was my dental hygienist she took my X-rays & performed my cleaning. They do move you though, so not a super personalized experience but perfect for getting the bi-annual screening and cleaning over and done with. This review is in regards to Dr. Klein and Cheryl. They are the absolute best. They took me as a last minute emergency after another Periodontist absolutely botched my gum graft. I have literally been going to this dentist for 12-15yrs but the last few times I have been here I been turned totally off. It all started in January when my permanent retainer started moving around and I made a emergency appointment to get it cemented back down. The doctor persisted I go for a deep cleaning first which I was only able to schedule like a month away due to THEIR availability. I had to cancel and reschedule that appointment due to other health issues and that appointment was scheduled for april. REALLY! A whole other month I have to wait to get this retainer fixed. The retainer ended up breaking in my mouth so I scheduled another emergency appointment because not only has the retainer broke but my teeth has moved. The same doctor saw me and he ask do i have the piece so that he can cement it back down because he seen my teeth moved. . So your telling me first you didn't cement it back down because I needed a deep cleaning but now that you see I am angry and my teeth has moved you will fix it?!?! Now i have to shove out 1000 dollars to fix something that could of been prevented. I grew up at this dentist but after this deep cleaning this will the last time I step foot in this place because this is one of a couple issues I have had with them. read more

She was too lazy to verify my insurance. She turned me away from my appointment because she didn't know how to check my insurance. Manhattan Dental Care was the best experience I have EVER had at a dentist / periodontist office. I went in with a crazy amount of problems because I had not taken care of my dental needs for years. Upon meeting Cheryl and Dr. Jacobs and Dr. Lee, we set upon a course of action. Needless to say, this was more of a marathon than a sprint, but I could not be more impressed with their care, their staff, their office, and the fact that when I actually run into them on the street I feel that they are more friends than care-givers. (Thanks Rhonda!) I had numerous procedures, including wisdom teeth removal (which ended up being entirely painless unlike many acquaintances of mine - I never even needed a Tylenol after all 4 were removed - two at a time, of course). I was amazed. An extraction and a bridge later, I could not be more pleased with my experience with them. The best part, again, is the relationship you form with them. I know about their families, kids, grandchildren, etc. And they know, and ask about my family as well. I cannot recommend this practice more, and I'm so happy that one of their patients, whom has taken his family there since they were children, recommended Manhattan Dental Care to me. My endodontist suggested Manhattan Dental for my post root canal crown. He didn't steer me wrong. He suggested that I see Dr. Jacobs, but I needed to get in quickly, so I ended up seeing Dr. DeVito. I was a bit worried, because Dr. DeVito seemed so young, but he did fantastic work on my crown. He's professional, nice, and really cares about your comfort. I CANNOT give Dr. Johanna Jacobs any stars. She said I had a cavity, but I seriously doubt whether I had a cavity. When she informed me I had a cavity during my first visit with her (for a routine check-up/cleaning), I asked her to show me on the x-ray, b/c I felt absolutely no pain or unusual feeling in that area in question. Upon my layman's examination of the entire x-ray, there was absolutely nothing indicating to me that I had a cavity in that tooth - nothing different about that area where she said I had a cavity. When I pointed this out, Dr. Jacobs sarcastically said she could not teach me about dentistry. I had my reservations but had it done. Since then, I deeply regret having done this dental work without a second opinion. Less than 2 years after I had the cavity filled, it came off. I went back to Dr. Jacobs to get the cavity filled for the second time. After Dr. Jacobs finished filling the cavity for the second time, she said she'd be on vacation soon and recommended calling another dentist if my tooth started to hurt and if "[I] needed a root canal." I was STUNNED when she said this! I remember her face turned all red when I questioned her about why I would need a root canal. My tooth did not hurt any time prior to getting the second filling. Luckily, I did not have to get a root canal as of this date, Sept 2015. I haven't gone to a dentist for several years due to my experience with Dr. Jacobs. Recently, I decided I should go to a dentist and called Manhattan Dental Care to request all my medical records. I felt I needed the records, b/c I'm not sure exactly what Dr. Jacobs did with my tooth/teeth. The office manager confirmed that I was previously treated by Dr. Jacobs, BUT she said all my medical records were deleted, including x-rays and notes of what was done on my teeth. She indicated that some of the older records were digitally saved but that my medical records were all deleted. This is absolutely terrible! If they were planning to delete my medical records, she should have notified me. Again, I deeply regret having done the dental work with Dr. Jacobs without seeking a second opinion from another dentist. read more

My family has been going to Manhattan Dental for years. Cheryl the receptionist and Jennifer the hygienist are the true stars of the practice. The dentists seem to pass through on their way to private practice, but these ladies provide the continuity, professionalism, friendliness that make me almost look forward to my visits. I came here after a horrible experience at another dentist in which they screwed up a crown and had it not fitting properly,cutting into my gums and causing a lot of pain and inflammation. I was a complete nervous wreck and also worried about spending more on top of the $1500 I already spent at the horrible dentist...
