Despite having extensive dental work performed by this practice over the past year, I can no longer recommend this practice. After being advised that my husband was in need of approximately $10k in dental work, we left approximately five messages to discuss best course of action. No one at the practice returned our calls. When I cancelled my upcoming appointment as I believe the practice is no longer responsive to its patients, I was advised that the practice "understood" my husband and I leaving the practice as "the practice was sold." read more

I absolutely love Dr. Perkins and the staff at PSD. This my conclusion review after I completed my Invisalign treatment w/ Dr. Janash and my ortho treatment w/ Dr. Perkins. Dr. J felt my smile (teeth) could be better upon completion and did advise me that my teeth because my midline as so far shifted left that I would not be perfect but suggested a consultation w/ Dr. Perkins. Dr. Perkins said he could absolutely fix my smile and it would be great and after a few months I couldn't be happier. Dr. Perkins is simply amazing. This dentist's office is run like a business and not a healthcare provider. I stopped going to Park South Dentistry because after a checkup they moved me into a financial coordinator's office. I was told, "This is the insurance money that you have left. With that money we can do some elective procedures like caps or braces." I never went back. Today, at least three years later, I received an SMS text from them saying that I owe 56 dollars. The link leads to a credit card entry form. When I press the "look at bill" button, it gives me a pdf that won't open. On top of that, they texted me during COVID when their office is closed and there is no one answering their phone. They are hoping that people will just pay the money. Shame on you Park South Dental. Use this dentist office at your own financial risk. read more

Best place to be BLINDSIDED by bills in Manhattan! This isn't a review of the dentists there but instead their office staff, and more specifically their billing practices. Long story short they tried to blindside me with a $1400 mouth guard bill!!! Went in for a TMJ consult 3 months ago and was given the treatment options of a night guard and two sessions of Botox injections. I asked about the cost and was told my night guard was covered and the injections would be $750 each, which is expensive but I agreed to it. After dropping off molds from my other dentist and waiting OVER A MONTH without hearing anything I called and forced the issue to get an appointment to try on my guard. After an hr long appt of adjusting I was on my way out and scheduling my $750 injections, I was pulled into a side room. While there I was asked how much I thought I would be paying today. When I said I thought my guards were covered by insurance I was told that was a miscommunication from the office and they would be $1400!! I reminded them that I had asked up front the cost of treatment and never would've agreed to it. She said my insurance and most insurances for that matter don't cover night guards and if I wanted the guards they would be $1400 and waiting for me. Sooo those night guards and the $1500 of Botox I was going to get are going to stay right there and I'd advise you to find another dentist and let their inventory stay on their shelves and not in your mouth. read more

Just an amazing, caring, professional experience. I have been going to Dr Lustbader for years and have recommended him to all of my friends and family. He's a great dentist, I have never felt pain regardless of the procedure he's performing. I always get complements on my smile and I owe it to Dr Lustbader and the staff. He his so careful and explains everything taking away any anxiety that usually comes with a dental appointment. Roxana goes out of her way to not cause any pain with her deep cleaning and scaling. Can't say enough how patient she is. I had a Zoom treatment with Jessica. She was so thorough with the preparation, making sure none of my gum tissue would be exposed to the whitening chemical that I had absolutely no sensitivity after the treatment. I went to Park South Dentistry against my better judgment using a Groupon promotion because I didn't have dental insurance at the time. I remember previously when booking there had been like 27 reviews, all 5's, saying things ranging from 'amazing! I got my feet massaged! He's the best dentist ever!' to 'he's easy on the eyes'. All of the comments were posted by people that had only reviewed the Dental office, and reeked of self promotion (probably because they were trying to get Groupon people to sign up). I fell for it, and went. First of all, just to clear things up, to the secretary that wrote he is easy on the eyes...um...I guess we just have different taste. Secondly, maybe I went on the wrong day but where was my damn massage? It certainly wasn't while the most aggressive hygienist I've ever had was yelling at me for not flossing and ripping my gums apart with her instruments of death. I have pretty good dental hygiene - I brush twice, floss usually, but by the end of the appointment I was spitting out pieces of tissue from my gums (not an exaggeration) which has NEVER happened before. Also - although the office itself is nice I was a little sketched out to be riding in the elevator of an apartment building with people who lived there, and then having to ring the bell to an apartment where the dental offices are. It felt kind of like I was in another country going to get some illegal operation or something, totally back door... Will not be going back again. Thank goodness my insurance has kicked in! read more

If you are looking for a dentist, KEEP LOOKING. On the recommendation of a guy from the gym, I made my first appointment (for next week) with PSD on Monday , and arranged my schedule accordingly. On Wednesday morning, they called to cancel and to offer a smattering of different days and times. I hate that. Why make an appointment for a (new) patient if you are not going to honor it? This shows an utter lack of respect for the patient's time-- and for the patient. I know they would like to tighten up their schedule for maximum dollars per hour, but patients are people with jobs and schedules of their own. I was not about to re-shuffle my whole schedule -- again-- and treat my clients as this office was treating me. No dice; deal-breaker; forget it. Thanks for wasting my time. STAY AWAY !!!! I called Park South Dentistry to inquire about a teeth cleaning and make sure it was covered under my insurance. I was told I was covered at zero cost and made an appointment. When I went in, everyone was friendly; the facility was very nice, and I was made to feel very comfortable. When I sat in the chair for the cleaning, the hygienist suggested I go for a "deep cleaning". I am 66 years old, and in all my years going to the dentist (twice yearly for cleaning), I never heard of a "deep cleaning". The hygienist explained all the benefits of a "deep cleaning" and what it entailed (two visits). My next question was what it would cost. A second person (who i assumed was the office manager) came in and explained I would need to pay $240 out of pocket, and the insurance covers the rest. To be clear, they were the ones checking with my insurance. At no time was i asked to check with my insurance company. I originally came in for a cleaning expecting it to cost zero because my dental plan covers twice-yearly cleaning (I confirmed the no cost with Park South before coming in). I wasn't expecting to fork out any additional money but deiced to heed the hygienist's advice and go for the "deep cleaning". I had no issue with the work they did until months later; I received a bill for an additional $330. When I called to inquiry about the bill, I was told my dental insurance did not cover all of the "deep cleaning" costs, and I was now responsible for the additional cost. This blew me away. When I was contemplating if I should get the "deep cleaning," I was told what it would cost me out of pocket; now I am asked to pay more money because my dental insurance company didn't cover everything they expected it to cover. I was NEVER at any time asked to check with my dental insurance company directly to check coverage. Your people at Park South did all the inquiries themselves. They were the ones to tell me what the cost would be. What I also found unfair was that the dentist office had plenty of time to let me know that the insurance was not covering all the additional costs since the deep clean was over a few week period. It wasn't untill months later that they came back to me for more money. THIS IS VERY WRONG. At no time was the onus on me to determine out of pocket. read more

Professionalism, Customer Service and Helpfulness. I've been going to P.S.D. for years. The new location is posh. The ladies at the front desk are friendly and professional. I luv Patricia R and Maria N. Every time I come for a visit they are friendly, professional , and accommodating. I always feel welcomed when I go to Park South Dentistry. But, I always feel extra special when Patricia and Marie are there. It's a great place to go if you want to get excellent dental work. For example, I'm getting cosmetics dental work done. Currently, I have temporary aesthetics. Often, people complement me on my aesthetic work. That goes to show you the dental work is excellent at Park South dentistry. Thanks to Doctor Lustbader. He is careful and meticulous during a procedure. My temps are undetected. I can only imagine when I get the permanent aesthetics completed. During the procedures was informative. CROOKS. The worst dentistry practice I have ever utilized. They upsell and create unnecessary medical treatments that were never needed. They should be reported to the health board. They suggested I get some weird whole jaw treatment that I did not need "to prevent future problems." That was nonsense that I could easily deflect. Then they said I needed a nightguard for grinding. My next dentist, who I saw six months later, said there was absolutely no evidence of grinding. I was bait-and-switched dentists on two occasions for my appointments. I always paid my bills on time, as they were provided. But then they come back around, months and years later, to claim that you have unpaid bills with them. I would highly suggest you STAY AWAY!!! I've been meaning to write a review for Dr. Janash for a few months now. If you're looking for a dentist, look no further!! Dr. Janash and everyone in his office are incredible! From the ease of making your online appointment, to the warm reception staff who are so helpful and nice, to the super sweet hygienist, to the incredible foot massage I received while having my teeth cleaned, I now look forward to going to a dentist. I mean, seriously..where can you get a foot rub while getting your teeth cleaned??? (i know they offer this on two days a week) Dr. Janash is incredibly down to earth and makes you feel at ease. I've been going to Dr. Janash for a few years now, and I've been very happy with that decision. After reading some bad reviews, my guess is that maybe the team wasn't equipped to deal with the loads of people pouring in after putting a promotion on Groupon. That said, they are really a great team. First of all, at least in the past, foot massages are true. I don't use them, but my BF does and he thinks it's really helpful to distract from the teeth cleaning (and feels good too!) The staff is great, they're all young, including Dr. Janash. I can relate to them, I love that they always remember me, both on the phone and in person. Dr. Janash always has great stories (this past year, he went to South Africa for the World Cup!) and he's very smart. And they're willing to work with you. If they don't take your insurance or if not all the services you need are covered, they are helpful in spacing out pricing and helping you get it covered. read more

TWO YEARS LATER, they're trying to bill me $320 for a basic cleaning... a cleaning that was covered under my insurance - or should have been. It was a basic cleaning. I have been seeing Dr. Chandwani for TMJ related issues, and I am so glad I have found him!!! I have spent tons of money and been to multiple other TMJ specialists, but got more out of one appointment with Dr. Chandwani than I have in 3 years with multiple other doctors. Dr. Chandwani spent a long time with me explaining my issues in detail with multiple reference tools to make sure I understood. He talked to me about different treatment options and the risks/rewards of each. And he taught me how to help myself through massage when the pain is very intense. In a time of doctors spending too little time with you for far too much money I have to say Dr. Chandwani is a diamond in the rough. For the first time I felt like a doctor really wanted to help me! Went here for the Groupon whitening treatment last week. I was very disappointed. I've never whitened by teeth before so I didn't know what to expect. I also didn't realize how sensitive my teeth were because after my session, I literally could not talk because it hurt so much. Not to mention, I didn't get any sleep. The gel they gave me for the pain did not help at all. The technician didn't bother introducing herself to me and I had to ask her what her name was, which was Ro. She didn't bother explaining the process to me and just sat me down. She didn't say a word and started doing her thing. That's very nice. Also, she seemed like she had better things to do than focus on my session because she didn't bother checking up on me once unless it was time to change my gel. All in all, the whitening did not work at all. My teeth look the same even though I followed their 48-hour rule of no colored food. I practically didn't eat anything because I was worried it would ruin my teeth. No point to that seeing as it did not work. And their "rooms" are seperated by curtains.... Yes next door patient, I would love to hear how many cavaties you have and your whole life story of how you never took care of your teeth! NOT. Ugh. What a waste of time and money. read more

My primary dentist is in California but I keep missing him every time I'm there. What's a man to do? Well Groupon went along and had a deal for new customers, so I snapped that up and booked an appointment. Originally was set up with Dr. Janash in SoHo, but due to some snafu on their end was canceled and had to re-book at their Central Park office. All easy since it was online. Got there on time, filled out some paperwork, had to wait around a bit but was out within the hour. Skilled hygienists and pleasant staff, though there was no foot-rub like I'd read about. Overall a solid choice. Nice to have someone to take care of my teeth on this coast too. read more

The office is VERY clean and inviting, the receptionist makes​ you feel comfortable, they offer you refreshments while you wait. I've never been to such a hospitable​ medical office before. I rarely write yelp reviews but I would like to warn others about my experience with this dental office. First I want to say that the facilities, the office itself and the staff were all lovely. It's a beautiful office in a nice location with kind people. Unfortunately this isn't about making friends ... I have gone to a (different) dentist for my entire life, however after changing insurance I decided to give Park South Dentistry a try. It was recommended to be by a coworker. On my first and only visit, the dentist took xrays and told me I had no fewer than TEN CAVITIES that needed to be filled, additionally said I may need a root canal, AND said I should have all four of my wisdom teeth removed. I found this news shocking as I have rarely had cavities and it hadn't been very long since I had seen my other dentist, who didn't report the issues Park South Dentistry did. I had no reason to believe they would recommend so many procedures without just cause, so panicked and I agreed to schedule follow ups to have my work done. Once I saw that the costs would be astronomical (even though they take my insurance) I had to hold off, cancel my follow ups with THIS dentist, and go for a second opinion. Well, this morning my original dentist reviewed the xrays that Park South Dentistry had taken, and thoroughly looked at each of my teeth. He determined that i have ONE cavity .... not 10+. No oral surgery (root canals) necessary. Not only was this a HUGE relief, but my second opinion, even without insurance, cost $400 less than my visit to Park South Dentistry. Now I am no tooth expert. It is possible that some dentists air on the side of prevention and recommend fillings that are not necessary. Maybe they have a deal with their oral surgeon and get something in return recommending patients. Or maybe because their office is so close to the Plaza, rent is super high and they need the cash. Who knows. I can't say why they gave me the diagnosis that they did -- but I can say I will NEVER go back there. If this had only happened to me I might be more skeptical, however, my coworker who recommended Park South Dentistry was told she ALSO told she needs to get oral surgery (a different procedure) that costs thousands of dollars. My boyfriend & I both had whitening treatments here. I got bleaching trays and he had the in office session. My teeth came out whiter! The lady on the phone recommended that I try the trays since my teeth are really sensitive. I tried to talk my boyfriend into doing it but he was stubborn and now he wishes he did them too! Anyhow, it was a pleasant experience for both of us. We didn't get to meet Dr. Janish but the people we dealt with were professional & accommodating. Unfortunately they don't take my HMO insurance plan, so it's back to my hum drum dental office I go :(, but if I get an upgrade I would return. It's not your typical dental office, I'll tell you that. Location was convenient, office very modern. I took off a star because elevator was really slow and made us late for our appointments. I was very uncomfortable with there being another patient a few feet away with not much separation between us. I could hear all of the other patient's discussions and the lack of privacy was unsettling. The dentist told me I grind my teeth because once women turn 27 they begin to feel the pressures of society, like marriage and babies, and start to experience stress. I couldn't believe my ears and I had to hold back laughter. I'm cancelling my cleaning appointment and won't be going back. 10+ years of going here, I had my first appt at their new office. It's crowded and no privacy - I don't want to watch the person across from me get drilled- and the new help was literally tripping over each other. Then they try to tell me I need a whole list of procedures that they've never mentioned before. (I was 'A+' 6 months ago.) But I guess they need to pay for all their new equipment. It was disgusting, they kept asking me to sign a strip - without having any idea what I was signing. When I'd refuse or question it, they'd get all offensive. As a previous poster wrote, Patricia was awful and bullying into trying to get you to do all kinds of procedures. (What kind of medical office has a sales room?) I had to ask her to lower her voice, I wasn't trying to fight - I was asking a question - that's all. read more

I went to Park South Dentistry because I bought a Groupon for a hugely discounted Zoom! tooth whitening. The deal was very specific - Zoom was what you were buying, which is exactly what I wanted. When I sat down in the chair at my appointment, however, the hygenist pulled out a Dash whitening box, saying, "We've decided to switch to this system instead. It's just as good as Zoom, and our dentist decided Zoom was too harsh on people's teeth." Well, that was unexpected. I decided to let her go ahead, since it very well could have been just as effective - why should I judge before even seeing the results? I wish my good faith had been rewarded. Unfortunately, the system isn't light-activated (one of the reasons Zoom works so well) and it uses a much lower % of hydrogen peroxide, and when she showed me my teeth after the 45 minutes, there was no change at all. None. I got home and immediately looked up the Dash system. It seems its big selling point is that it's far cheaper for dentists to use because it comes premixed. I guess now we know why Park South Dentistry "switched." I say "switched" because when you go to their website they still advertise Zoom, so it seems they only use Dash on their Groupon patients. I have no doubt that they planned to do this from the get-go, and I would certainly never go to such an underhanded dentist for any of my regular needs after experiencing this second-class-citizen treatment. So thanks, Park South Dentistry, for your bait-and-switch tactics. I've informed all my friends never to go to you as a regular patient and certainly never to buy a Groupon from you, unless they don't want to get what they paid for. The one star in this review is for Groupon, who immediately refunded my money after I told them what happened. read more

Although I can't speak for the teeth cleaning, I was really happy with the results of my Zoom! whitening after visiting Park South Dentistry. They offered a great Groupon deal for Zoom!, and I opted for the in-office whitening session. The dental technician was very friendly and helpful, and she did a great job with the treatment (I didn't actually meet Dr. Janash). It only took about 1 hr total, and the results were immediate. There was a little bit of pain when (I believe) the whitening gel must have touched my gums in one area, but the technician applied a sensitivity gel which made it better. I did experience a bit of sensitivity that night and a bit the next day, but nothing unbearable. Now my teeth look extremely white, and I love the results! read more
