Was on vacation visiting family. I had a tooth ache. Family member recommend me this office. I called and they gave me a same day appointment. The receptionist was very friendly over the phone, the check in process was so fast, they had sent the patient forms to my phone so I had them completely before I got there. In the beginning I found the place easy to get to and the staff was pretty straightforward. The care I received from the dentist herself was great. Dr Nupur Patel was awesome She was thoughtful and reassuring and she did a great job albeit unfinished and here's where the compliments stop. The staff was horrendous first of all after I was done and I already left they called me on the phone to come back because they had forgotten to take a final X-Ray to submit to my insurance company. Of course I didn't come back that day because I was already in the car on my way home. I did come back a few days later to get that X-Ray done but the assistant was kinda brutish taking the. X-Ray because she was frustrated she couldn't get the right angle. It was a little painful but anyhow they were supposed to call me back to do the capping on my tooth after the root canal and they never even bothered to call me back since May 2024 until October 2024 and no call back. I know that I can be the one to call and 9 times out of 10 I would but why? Do I want to go thru what I went thru with that awful staff again. Dr. Patel was great! I found her and the rest of the staff to be very nice and she was very patient and took her time to explain everything and answer my questions. I'm generally terrified of the dentist which is why I haven't gone to one in 3 years but Dr. Patel's calm demeanor really put me at ease throughout my visit. I had to get a deep cleaning and she made it as comfortable as possible. I would definitely recommend her to others like me that are afraid of the dentist. The office was very clean. My son and I have been seeing Dr. Patel for a few years. It started out well... never any wait time, she always explained what she was doing and what was needed, easy to schedule appointments. Slowly but surely I noticed a change... longer wait times, incorrect scheduling, over scheduling. Once I called in, spoke with reception and made an appt with Dr. Patel. Imagine my surprise when I come in and am told my appt is with someone else. This Dr told me I had multiple cavities that needed to be filled. Which didn't make any sense because I was just there 2 weeks prior for dental work (cavities & a root canal) & was returning due to sensitivity. My last appt with my son will be my last. His appt was for 10am along with 5 other ppl with Dr Patel. We waited over 30mins to be seen. She does his cleaning first then takes X-rays. Throughout the entire process she seems extremely rushed. After the X-rays she tells me he has a few cavities and for me to make an appt to get them filled. Excuse me???? I'm here now, he's already missing 1-3 periods of school, let's fill them now. Her reply is she's extremely busy and we would have to wait 30mins - 1 1/2hrs. Excuse me???? So I proceed to reception to inquire because that's who does the scheduling. I'm now told that she only has one other patient because the other 3 didn't show and she can do the work now. I felt like I was forcing her to do her job. It's almost time for me to get a check up and I've decided that I will not be returning to Uptown Dental Group again. During my first visit, I was not numbed enough for my fillings. They numbed me again and it felt like the needle went in a little too far. I had pain in that area for at least two weeks after my fillings. The second visit was with Dr. Patel. Her overall demeanor is unpleasant. It's possible she was having a bad day but among other things she used my bib to wipe her hands (while I was wearing it). I've never had a dentist do that and found it very off-putting. I was not done with my visit and asked the hygienist to replace the bib. read more

I literally just left my dentist appointment and had to write this review immediately. I'd like to start by saying that Ricardo did a great job with my dental cleaning and the woman who took my x rays was very sweet as well. The remainder of the experience however; was not the greatest. Once cleaning was undergo Ricardo stated he saw a possible cavity on the left side of my mouth. He said it was small but other than that stated my dental hygiene was up to par. Once he completed the cleaning Dr. Patel came in and stated "you have a couple cavities" as per the x-rays. She showed me on the x-ray 3 cavities. So intially one cavity turned into 3 cavities and upon actually looking in my mouth another cavity was discovered for a total of 4. I advised her that I had time to work on 2 of the 4. Those two being on my left side. She advised to me that my insurance does not cover tooth colored composites and only covers metal. With that being said I would have been charged $50 However, I've gotten work done with my previous dentist who also does not use metal fillings and my insurance covered so I informed her of that. She then went and got management who advised my insurance covers tooth colored fillings for the back but not for the front (all four cavities as shown on the x-rays appeared to be located in the back of my mouth) Ultimately, I let two of the four cavities be filled and was told to raise my hand if I felt any pain or discomfort. Needless to say I raised my hand about four times because I felt a stinging sensation from the drill I suppose. I am writing this review to inform and advise future potential patients as I feel I would have been ripped off out of $50 due to confusion or what appeared to be a lie about my insurance and coverage. If you can find a different dental facility I would. I strongly recommend Dr. Armstrong of Armstrong dental studio. read more

Recently, after almost two years, my upper partial broke. Unfortunately, the dentist that original had this partial made, retired. So, I had to pick a new dentist. I choose 116th Uptown Dental because it was convenient to get to and they were in my health insurance network. The first day I get there, I was told I couldn't get a new partial because my insurance wouldn't cover a new one until next. Which was fine. So, I asked them to fix this one. This is where the red flags began. This is like maybe 20 minutes into this visit... I was told by one of the front desk clerks, "" a repair for my upper partial would be $900.... My response: Absolutely no... then it went down to $600... Of course, I still said no thank you.... Then I was told by Dr. Patel, there's a mistake, its $250. Im still not agreeing.... Dr. Patel words, "Let me call the lab and see what the price is". She comes back and now the price is $110. From $900 it dropped to $110? I felt I was being haggled to see what I would pay. Big red flag for a doctor's office. I wasn't buying sneakers. Out of desperation, I agree to the $110 because I just wanted my partial fixed. At this time, I get a lower back missing tooth molded as well for a clip-in type of tooth. Dr. Patel was trying to sell me an acrylic clip-in rather than the free metal one that t insurance would cover. The acrylic had a price tag on it....I forget what it was but I said no....I want the metal. I come back in to receive both partial and clip-in.... The clip-in was not metal, it was acrylic. Dr. Patel realized the acrylic was free, so she decided on her own, lets switch to the acrylic. It would have been nice if I was in on this decision considering I am the patient. Again, another price change Just a few weeks of having the upper partial, it broke again. This must be the worse dentist I have ever went to. I have absolutely no trust in the dentist or the staff. Office staff & receptionists more concerned with planning their personal lives, eating and social media (tomorrow's outfit, family events, weight loss/bbl surgery, scrolling instagram, YouTube on their monitors) than customer service. Went here for a regular check up/cleaning. The dentist was straightforward and cleaned fairly ok. I had to come back for a cavity procedure and made an appointment two weeks in advance. Day before the appointment, the office called to confirm and told me three different time slots that were never the original scheduled time. On the day of the appointment, they called and canceled. I purposely took time off for this and they were not flexible with dates. I eventually canceled future appointments and will never return. Based on my brief experience with them and other reviews, they lack in professionalism & transparency. While dentists may do their jobs well, people who handle appointments, clients' concerns/questions, and process payments are not good. Because they're sketchy, I had to document my call in case they make a false claim to my insurance and charge me for something that I never got done! read more

Been going here for the last two years. Dr. Chang has been great and worked with me through my long Invisalign process, making adjustments and paying close attention to detail with how my teeth were moving. The rest of the staff and assistants that worked in the back were always friendly and professional. I feel comfortable in their hands. My only reservation has to do with the front desk staff. They have always been professional, but at some appointments they had conflicting information about how much I owed on my Invisalign balance. I had been keeping my own records of payment, so I was able to show them what I actually owed. This hasn't happened in a while, so maybe they corrected for whatever glitch they had in their record keeping. Overall, though, it's been a positive experience working with them. read more

Once there the front desk supposedly check all the info with the insurance company and performed basic cleaning. Almost a year later I got a call from the office saying the insurance did not cover the cleaning and I need to pay $160. I came in believing that I didn't insurance that would work here. I wasnt treated differently however they did double check on the information that I gave them. It turned out I gave them the wrong card and that I did have insurance. I hadn't been to the dentist in quite a while, I received no judgement just treatment from Dr. Voilet Jang. She was kind and dillegent and filled my two cavities. I had already paid upfront for my cleaning and thought I wasted money because I did have insurance but they just changed the charge to what I owed for the cavities. One time almost up to 2 hours, which is unfortunate as I try to leave work early to be on time. I never, ever write reviews - for anything. But my experience here was so horrific that I hope to keep others from having to go through what I did at this business. I was charged over $4,100 and had to go in for 5 visits for a single root canal. I had to repeatedly miss days of work, and even sometimes went in just to be told that they couldn't finish the work for one reason or another. I would make an appointment to see a specific dentist, only to arrive and be told he hadn't come in that day, so I'd have to see someone else. The ordeal started on my first visit, when the receptionists were incredibly cold and harsh. With each successive visit - after they'd made me pay for all work in advance - their behavior became increasingly rude and disrespectful. You have to speak to them through a glass wall, as if you're at a pawn shop. The waiting room was dirty, and there was even a roach motel under one of the chairs. The ONLY reason I kept returning was because they had taken my money in advance. The hygienist could barely speak English, so after asking her to repeat herself several times I'd end up just having to nod my head as if I understood her. I can not over emphasize how badly I and my wife were both treated here. At one point my wife broke down crying and sobbing because of how hostile and rude the staff was to her. And it wasn't just the inhospitable and socially inept treatment we received - they were also unbelievably incompetent. Once the crown arrived, and I went in for my fourth visit, it would not fit and they had to order another one. I ended up having to wear a temporary for a month. This was by far the worst experience I have ever had with a dentist's office in my entire life. My advice - avoid this place at all cost. read more

On the first day of my appointment; she was extremely busy and bouncing between room to room. She didn't explain the conditions of my mouth. After an hour and 30 min wait. Dr Grinello came in and immediately asked me if I planned to get implants for a missing back tooth. I told him no, I came in because I had a cracked tooth. He proceded with his exam and found a cavity and confirmed that my tooth was indeed cracked. He could remove the tooth or possibly do root canal. I don't want my tooth out so I said let's do the root canal. He then told me he would have to get approval from my insurance and it could take between 10-15 days???????? Root canal is basic procedure and my insurance does not require pre approval. I asked what I should do about the tooth (it hurts) until we received approval he told me to take tylenol LOL! Then told me to schedule an appointment to get the cavity filled! Why would I come back and have a cavity filled when I have a tooth that needs immediate attention. Make it make sense! Horrible! Been a patient here for few years now. I always look forward to my cleaning and check up. This was my first time with back after my previous Doctor had left. The new team is horrible! Rude and quick to get you out. The new doctor is inexperienced. My gums are bleeding. She didnt do a thorough cleaning and polished only my top teeth. She did not floss my teeth. I had a very bad experience with this office. Dr. Patel is very unprofessional. Do not go here!! I was charged for a crown and asked to come into the office for placement. The day of my appointment they told me the crown was not there and delayed in delivery. I lost a day of work and had to reschedule. This happened on two more occasions! I lost 3 days of work and lost out on over $250! They continued contacting me saying I missed an appointment that i was never told about, again on several occasions. I was charged in October and it is now April of a new year and they have not assisted me and now refuse to give me a refund. They charged the insurance when the new year came in to get the new rates. Insurance scammers! I asked after the second time to cancel the service and they continued to order the crown they said they ordered three other times to now charge me.
