I am going to add that a lot of the negative reviews are 5 years old or so. We have been getting consistently good pizza and subs from Manhattan Express for at least two years. As well as good delivery service with Slice. Just tip 20% They deserve it and orders are always early. read more

I had my first experience with Manhattan Express Pizzaria today placing an on line/delivery order. I have been in the food and beverage industry all my life and often leave positive reviews. Rarely I will make a negative review citing they perhaps had a bad day however I could not overlook this experience today because not only the order came wrong but I had to deal with young people who clearly was over their head with my questioning and dissatisfaction. I ordered two subs and some soda. When the order was delivered there was one sub and a styrofoam box of romaine lettuce and Italian dressing. I looked at my original order and noticed there was only one sub on the receipt and an order for antipasto salad, below this order was my instructions for the 2nd subs, extra onions, dry . When I called to explain the problem he ignored me insisting that the instruction under the antipasto salad were for the 2nd sub and clearly there was something wrong . I made it clear I was not going to pay 11.99 for a box of cut up romaine and he asked me to send a pic of the salad to him but I could not figure out how to send that. He then said since I refuse to send the pic, there was nothing he could do. I will never do business with this place again and I suggest all of you out there considering to order online with this establishment to double and triple check your order before you place it. They may have screwed me out of 12 bucks but in the end, it will cost them business not only with me, but others if they continue to ignore making things right with decent customers~ read more

Tried this place a handful of times. With each time the service and food gets more disappointing. A month ago, we ordered delivery and were told 45 minutes. When it was 15 minutes late, we called to inquire about our food and stated that it had been an hour since we ordered. We were told "It's only been 55 minutes not 60" in a rude tone. No "I'm sorry it's late, let me check on that for you." I would've been completely understanding, as I work in food service myself. But the attitude, that's not okay and way more disturbing to me than a late order. We seriously regretted leaving a 20% tip. Nonetheless, we ended up waiting an hour and 45 minutes for our delivery. The food was cold, the garlic knots were burnt and oily, and the breaded mushrooms were oddly wet. The pizza and Chicken Alfredo were okay. Tonight, we decided to give Manhattan one more shot. We figured maybe the other times we caught them having a bad day. My boyfriend ordered what he liked - Chicken Alfredo. I decided to second that. We were told delivery would take 90 minutes, which was totally acceptable for a Friday night. It ended up being 45 minutes this time. It was looking up! I thought the Chicken Alfredo was pretty good, the chicken a little weird (breaded not grilled?), and tiny bits of what seemed to mushrooms, but it tasted fine. I hadn't made it halfway through my meal when I bit down on something small and sharp. A little thorn that pierced my gums. Even the complimentary bread that comes with the meal, which seemed to be the only part I enjoyed in past, was hard as a rock. The knots were burnt again and the wings were low quality. Their pizza is ok but their customer service sucks. Late with deliveries and id say 8 out of 10 orders are wrong.

We couldn't even get our food before receiving terrible service. To be visiting for the first time from out of state I would expect respectable service. The cashier was short, rude, and not helpful. Attitude does not make for a happy customer, and I was absolutely shocked at the blatant ignorance. Ordered from there weekly sometimes a few times a week for the last year plus! They screw up my order when I get the same thing every time (not the first time)when I call to ask them to remake it and tell them I'll bring back the one with rocottia cheese in it an Italian guy gets on the phone and tells me I didn't say no rocottia cheese the girl who took the order says so! Thing is I'm allergic to rocottia not to mention two other people in the room heard me! Pretty poor business when I've spent I'd say over thousand in the 1.5 years! I love there chicken garlic parm pizza but no more. Not smart to save what 5$ or so to remake it when I will spend hundreds more! With an attitude no less! Their pizza is usually very good. In my opinion among the best I've ever tasted. I would recommend the pizza. The chicken wings are pathetic, little things that are overpriced. $8.99 for ten tiny wings. The wings sold by their local competitors are about twice as big and for less money. Pizza is very good, BUT pick it up yourself. It means a lot to me to support local businesses. I understand that it's difficult to keep up with demand. Multiple times I've ordered only to, at best, have it picked up or delivered late by over 30 minutes. There have been multiple instances where my order has just been forgotten, but it sure goes through on my credit card. The oversight is laughable. Our firehouse orders from here about once a week, and we're usually pretty happy with what we get. Delivery has never been a problem, the pricing is reasonable (and about on-par with other places in the area), and there's a fair amount of selection. There are several gourmet pizza options. Our meat-eaters have really enjoyed the meat-lovers pizza, and our vegetarians have been getting the eggplant bella. There are a few other vegetarian options as well, meaning your veggie friends don't have to settle for "just cheese" again. So that's nice. The pizzas are a reasonable size: about the same as fresh basil. They're larger than pizza hut by a fair margin, but smaller than bottistis or riverside. I have been here a few times and usually it is decent. Last night they forgot my wings, which luckily I realized before getting to far and went back to pick them up only to find out they hadn't been made. I wait for that, and when I got home I found that the fettuccine Alfredo I ordered was filled with mushrooms which I am allergic to. I called the location and was told rudely by the girl there that is how the pasta comes. I let her know online it does not list mushrooms as an ingredient and she said well that's how it comes u less you request it without. The owner trying to pass off being from NYC and Italian which he is not. We are from NYC and requested that our pizza be cooked well done, the pizza was brought out and requested that it be cooked for an additional time. He refused and sent the pizza back to us saying it was fine and we eat what we get refusing to cook the pie for an additional time. Confronted him on this and he refused, then reluctantly agreed to put it back in saying that my mother-in law didn't know what she was talking about. I said to him that in 3 months he will be out of business. Will never set foot in this establishment ever again. I grew up in Staten Island and have been recommended several pizza places, which to me were all garbage. Too doughy and no flavor . The one downtown we ordered a pie and got a wanna be sicillian for a regular round pie. For me this is the closest to city pizza I've had since we moved up here. Great pie. My son called to check was told delivery guy was already there knocked, waited 15 mins then left! My husband called right after and got the same thing and wasn't even offered to have the food re-delivered and was hung up on!!! I call while I'm in NYC and was told the same thing! I only left 1 star because I had no choice!!! I had been a long time loyal customer of this restaurant because I thought the food was alright initially , I ordered regularly and thought that I had found a gem. I was WRONG! A good restaurant doesn't only apply to food, it applies to customer service, management. I called with a problem regarding the food , I wanted to bring to their attention that we had ordered food the day before and unfortunately my family was really sick all night (I don't have to explain that, I'm sure that you understand) I made it clear that I wasn't seeking to be reimbursed . Anyhow the minute I said my kids got sick I heard yelling and defensive behavior calling me a liar and saying that's impossible and nobody else got sick etc.... he yelled at me and told me nobody gets sick there ever and that we got sick somewhere else... This is a pizza to fulfill your basic pizza cravings. It's pretty good and similar to pizza I've had in the city. They always deliver on time, and pretty hot pizza. Service is quick and efficient. However, I'm not able to attest to eating in the store itself. Veggie, broccoli, and cheese pizzas are delicious. BEST SAUCE TO CHEESE RATIO. Garlic knots are pretty great too! The sauce that comes with is mediocre. The wings aren't bad; my brother, who's a big wing person, likes them. It's hard to find a good pizza place in Amsterdam. I had Manhattan Pizza a couple of times before with great luck and generous amounts of cheese (which is important in our household). This last time their prices had jumped and everything had LESS cheese on it than usual. I spent over $75, and to top it off their delivery was about a half an hour later than the promised time. Furthermore the driver said he called us but we had no missed calls on our phone and it didn't even ring so maybe he dialed the wrong number.
