Outside this hotel is ugly! Thankfully inside is much better. The rooms are a tad on the smaller size, but perfectly acceptable. A nice Queen bed that's nice and soft. I slept very good  a small dinning table with 2 chairs. A mini fridge and microwave. A decent sized tv. The lighting is a little dim, a center room light would have been nice. The room was very clean. In the bathroom the vanity is small, and the tub is prefab, however at least it goes to ceiling and doesn't stop at 6'. I wish the Hallway wall and door and more sound proofing, but between rooms seems good. Also the blackout curtain could be better. The pool and hot tub are decent. The service was very good and friendly. They have a complimentary breakfast that is cooked in the onsite restaurant, Oli appreciate that. Sadly I didn't try it because of plans, but still good on them. Overall a 4 1/2 star review. Compared to a Hotel/Motel for a smaller town and the issues being so minor, I'm going to round up. We stayed here for my birthday weekend getaway. At the end of the day: it's a hotel and it did it's job while being budget friendly. We had a King suite with a tub. While everything appears to be dated, the tub was nice. Just be careful of the water temperature, it did not like to be consistent. The bed was like a rock. Then the breakfast was nothing to get excited over. However, the real disappointing part was the amount of phone calls we received from the front desk about the "no smoking" policy. As a current non-smoker and the smell being nauseating to myself, I'd understand and appreciate one phone call. However, it was to the point of harassment and was extremely annoying; especially since the bedroom phone hardly worked, it was missing over half of the keys, and I did not want to spend my relaxing time answering the hotel room's broken phone. Bed bugs present as of 8/26/18. Very disgusting, have reported it with the County Health Department. The staff were not very helpful when trying to report it in person to the owner or manager or when I called back later on. Check your bed, take all of the sheets off and move the mattress. Look closely. We took pictures. I see they've remodeled recently and from the outside it's not impressive but the interior was average. If not for the bed bugs I would have given it a 3 star rating. This hotel must be at least 30 years old and although recently SOMEWHAT renovated, it remains dirty and poorly maintained. It was our "hotel of last resort" over the July 4th weekend while waiting to transfer to Little River Casino. One night was even too much. The price we were asked to pay was excessive given the accommodations and appearance of the facility. I was working at the paper mill and called this hotel home for 6 months, 3 months of that during the beginning of covid. I don't know if y'all remember how crazy that time was but, the staff here made it work and made it work good. It wasn't just a hotel. They made it a home. Not a great place. No coffee in the room. No TV listings. The phone had buttons missing. Had a room for two people but only one hand towel and one washcloth. Had to ask for more. Have to ask for shampoo. Had to flush the toilet three time to get the poop to go down and it wasn't a lot. On the good side, front desk girl was very nice and the beds were comfortable. read more

Do Not Stay! Booked (2) night stay we checked out after (1) night because items were stolen from our room. We were charged for both nights then they charged us $190 for a supposed missing comforter. We chose this hotel based on location, price, and other reviews. We would chose another option next time. Here are some of our issues in no particular order. The entire property was over grown with weeds. The outside of the buildings were covered with old dirt and cobwebs. No kidding. The carpet in our room was so filthy my white athletic socks were black on the bottom after wearing them in the room for a few hours one day when we just needed to rest. The coffee in the lobby was practically undrinkable. I could go on, but this gives a pretty full picture. The good news was that the AC worked. read more

I was in Michigan for a motorcycle trip a couple of weeks ago and stayed at this hotel. It is located right in the middle of town within walking distance to restaurants and bars. The Hotel itself is pretty simple. It is very clean, just not fancy. The highlight of the stay was the Manager, Tim and his family. They live at the hotel and basically planned our riding excursions each day. They sent us on the best roads, told us where to eat, and we're just awesome. I generally like to stay at a Hampton Inn, but I would have really missed out if we hadn't met these folks. read more

Don't judge a book by its cover. It's a pleasant surprise. Rooms have been all redone, one of the most comfortable beds and clean updated rooms, great Wi-Fi and a good breakfeat at a good price. Don't let the outside appearance give you pause, this place has been given a major upgrading in the past couple of years and the inside is VERY nice. I paid $66 in mid July 2017 and felt I got a bargain. Great quiet clean modern room.....nice breakfast room.....friendly staff. This last Thursday we had booked Thursday night and Friday night. 60.00 per night. When I checked in they told me Friday would be 81.00 because it was a weekend. Long story short. The desk gave me 15.00 off of the 81.00. Second we get to our room. The maid has a machine plugged in our room but the machine was in the room across the hall. I asked the maid if she was sanitizing for bed bugs. She said oh no I wouldn't do that to you. Well I tore our room apart.i did t find any bedbugs. Turned on the air conditioner, sat on the bed. HERE COMES A BED BUG WALKING A CROSS THE NIGHT STAND. I put the bug in my card key envelope. Take it to the front desk. Tell her to refund my money. YOU HAVE BED BUGS. I only give 1 star because I have to. They lost our reservation from hotel.com. Just plain canceled it. Mind you, this was over a very busy weekend and my wife and I were 3 hours from home with very little options. We actually had to change cities (Ludington) and our trip itinerary. Also, the hotel we finally found in a neighboring city 30 miles away was double the cost. Most importantly, we were never even offered an apology. Nor did they assist in finding another hotel. If it was possible to leave 0 stars, I would. I am furious about my experience at Manistee Hotel. They refused to check me into a room that I had already paid for, despite calling and saying I'd be a late check in earlier in the week. They had my key sitting on the desk, my name was in the system, I showed him my receipt, but the man at the desk refused to check me in. I was livid. I was hesitant to stay here. And I should have trusted my gut. When we walked in, there was a half eaten muffin on the ground. That stayed there for the entirety of our trip. The floors were not cleaned in the two days we stayed. Both hotel rooms had empty toilet paper rolls. We were told they had no extra pillows and no towels because at night, they have the laundry room "locked up." Our room had no phone. The walls had a bunch of patchwork done that just made the room look cheap - which, it was. Our first room had a balcony but the screen door was broken and just chilling on the balcony leaning against the door. The guests go in and out and talk loudly in the hallways with no regards to anyone else. The entire hotel smells of stale cigarette smoke and strong cleaner. The guy working the desk had a shirt on that was too small and his hairy belly was hanging out ... while it appeared he was attempting to look professional, he had a gross old ball cap on and his button up shirt was stained. Unfortunately this was a last minute trip due to a family emergency so we chose this place and i wish I could go back in time and not choose it. It's a shame there is some place this run down and not taken care of because Manistee is one of my favorite places on earth. I have been vacationing up here for the last 17 years - but, we always stay with family or at the InstaLaunch campground. If you have your choice between camping and this hotel, camp. It's cleaner and cheaper. Why I gave it a 2 star rating: The price. We couldn't beat it. The woman who worked the desk on the second day - she was super pleasant and super helpful. They let me have 2 plastic spoons without charging me. Our view on the second night didn't suck. You either get the old tennis court or Lake Manistee. Not that bad at all! Per the Yelp reviews and Google reviews you'd think this place was the hotel from The Devil's Rejects but this place is legit. You get a good firm clean bed/pillows, clean bathroom, air conditioning, fridge, microwave, tv, and clean towels. Wtf else you want for a motel level location? Breakfast is included and is basic. Toast, bagels, coffee, waffle maker, eggs, cereal, milk, muffins, included are for this place is pretty damn good. Eggs are microwaved but what do you expect? Fucking omelet bar? Hot tub and swimming pool are fine as well. But most important of all the have a Game Room with Street Fighter 2 and the X-Men 4 player beatem up from the 90s. Games were last updated when the hotel was. If you're in Manistee for some reason and want a cheap stay, don't be swayed by foolish reviews expecting The Bellagio. Pool turned my hair green! But thats not even the worst part! When I went to the front desk just to tell someone i was calm and collect until i met DEB. Deb the pool lady? (I hope she wasn't a manager but judging by the bugs in our room I wouldnt be surprised) Deb was immediatly defensive and said it couldnt be from their pool it had to be something I did...she then tested chemicals and showed me there was almost no presence of chlorine in the pool ( a problem in its self!) I began getting agitated assuring her I didnt care what the chemical test showed. I just wanted to let her know her pool turned my hair green. She was rude aggressive and even said "what do you want me to do about it? Its not our fault" I was and am visibly mad and becoming angry at this point I took Her name and said thank you. But not once was I told "sorry" or "I Will look onto this"or any other hint of proper customer service. I was only told I Could take care of it myself and it was from chlorine which their pool doesnt have....ps. Deb its not from chlorine it from improper chemical balance in the pool. Google it. Had a reservation booked for the first time I have ever been to Manistee. Tried to check in early and the lady said check-in is at 3pm which I totally understand. Great hotel with close location to Lake Michigan. Breakfast was very good - you get vouchers for the on-site restaurant. The hotel has coffee and hot chocolate available all day also. The game room with old-school arcades were fun for my husband and son. We had a nice view of the City of Milwaukee ship from our room window. Front counter man was rude! Told me I could book with a lodging card, when I came to check in, he told me they didnt accept lodging cards while giving me a lecture about it. Towels have stains. Room was cleanish. The hotel smells musty all throughout. The bathroom in our room had mold on the corners in the tub. The carpets in the entire hotel are gross stained with dirt and who knows what else. The floor in the room had dirt marks from mopping with dirty water. I will not stay here again, trust me, you shouldnt either. The only thing convenient was the price and that the hottub and pool were open until 11. read more

I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel! The beds were extra comfortable and clean and had all white bedding. Kind of reminded me of Marriott as far as the beds. The bathroom was updated and clean. I was disgusted this places was not worth 110 for a night. The pool area was dirty, the carpets have not been swept in god knows when. Their Continental breakfast was coffee and toast. My wife and I stayed at this hotel on 9-23-17 and there were bugs all over the room cob webs as well front counter person didn't offer to exchange the room explained that there near woods and a hill it's normal but it is not he was rude and was no help the next morning we spoke with a Brenda who listened to our concerns and contacted the manager to have them handled waiting to hear back if they will refund our money it's is not good business practice to lie to a customer and be rude I won't recommend this motel to anyone . read more

This hotel is dreadful. Do not stay here! It should be called the MyNasty Hotel. The rooms (305, for example) are filthy with body fluids on the floor and chairs, and hairs under the pillows on the beds. The dresser drawers are losing their bottoms. The bathroom walls were covered with more hairs, some from above the belt, some from below the belt, and the bathroom walls are also sticky with who-knows-what. The bathtub did not drain, so we had to purchase our own drain cleaner because maintenance only visits the hotel once or twice a month according to the hotel staff. The front desk does not have extra towels at night, so you might have to go without them. The restaurant uses powdered eggs and little else for their low-standard breakfast. That doesn't even take into account how dirty the restaurant is. There are no coffeemakers in the rooms, and don't be surprised if the front desk has forgotten to make any. The pool water was milky white, and guests actually permit little children under 5 into the hot tub (one of whom emptied her bladder, and the front desk staff did nothing). Beware the fact that housekeeping does not care if you put the "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door -- they will enter anyway. Other guests complained about bugs and cockroches in their rooms, and there were a number of bugs flying around the hallways. There was much more that was wrong, but this should be enough evidence to prove that you should not stay at this nasty hotel. read more
