Nice little hotel for the weekend. Hubby and I booked a double queen room as his sister was supposed to stay with us. but plans changed last minute. Glad we booked when we did though because it was all booked up for the weekend. Great sized shower- lots of space for all toiletries. I am not a fan of the sink outside the bathroom as there isn't much privacy, but other than that and a couple of updates here and there, a very sweet little hotel. Very clean. The housekeeping staff made sure to clean daily and kept the room tidy for us. read more

Walls VERY thin. Listened to the room next to us, doing the diddy all night long. They were VERY loud. Needs some upgrades!

As we walked into the room, the first thing we noticed was a musty smell reminiscent of cigarette smoke (seems like despite the non-smoking policy, people may still be smoking in the rooms). The pillows were uncomfortable and I woke up with a stiff neck the next morning. Definitely has a budget inn vibe (not necessarily a bad thing), for example: misaligned doors, thin walls (you can hear stuff going on in the hallway). Our mattress didn't appear to have any bed bugs. Amenities are pretty nice: pool (which we didn't try), internet (didn't try), TV, breakfast, refrigerator, shampoo/soap, coffee maker, styrofoam cups, etc. Breakfast was comprised of break, cereal (frosted flakes, fruit loops, raisin bran and a fourth I have since forgotten), yogurt, microwave omelettes (!?), coffee and waffles. Parking lot is spacious and well-lit at night. Soap smelled weird and left a weird residue. The main issue we had was that there was some pink, viscuous liquid that was hidden in the plastic bag containing the styrofoam cups. As my girlfriend was picking it up, it got all over her (we couldn't see it originally because the cups were upside down). The consistency was as if someone performed bloody spits into the cup because they couldn't quickly find the trash can. I couldn't really smell anything either. Needless to say, this seemed like terrifying, hazardous, mystery liquid and it made us super uncomfortable. We washed it off the clothes multiple times in hot water and also discovered during that process that the inn's hot water is great and very hot. The staff seemed pretty nonchalant about it, but offered no explanations as to what it could be. We didn't try to change rooms because apparently the inn was completely booked. My girlfriend tried to get a discount (which was denied), but the whole ordeal just made me super uncomfortable. Now that some time has passed, it seems like whatever it was wasn't a health hazard (neither of us are sick in strange ways, though now I have do have a cold). But solely based on this, I wouldn't recommend staying here because it seems like cleaning is not very thorough. read more

Very, very nice hotel for the price. Room 101 was very clean and updated. Check-in was quick and the staff extremely friendly. Breakfast was okay; breads, waffles, apples/bananas, yogurt, cereal, a huge pot of oatmeal, some type of pre-made frozen egg product that you warm up in the microwave yourself, etc. read more

I walked in and asked about reserving a room and asked to see it first, room 307. The room they showed me had a strong odor of urine and was very out dated. The pool was disgusting. The hot tub had a bunch of something on the bottom of it, nasty hairs floating on top of the water and a gross film. Exterior doors don't have a keypad so anyone can come in at anytime. I have children and would not feel safe there. You get what you pay for. We found a Super 8 right down the street that was much nicer and much newer. read more

I stayed here for one night with my mother. Came into our room, room 259, and immediately noticed that the window faced directly out at the adjacent brick wall, with just a few feet in between our window and the brick (see picture). My mother and I found it quite laughable, because we just couldn't believe it. I can safely say that I have stayed at a variety of hotels through in my life, other Days Inns included, and I've never had a view quite like that. There was almost no natural light in the room whatsoever, and the room was almost constantly dim, even the next morning. There appeared to be other rooms that faced the brick wall at this location as well, so if you are calling ahead to make a reservation here, I'd advise you to request a room that faces elsewhere. Once we laughed off the view, we went about using the bathroom and discussing our plans for dinner. This was when the real problems began. The toilet seemed to flush very, very slowly, and there was no light in the bathroom, so you had to leave the door open to do your business if you wanted to see. We left the room and went out. When we returned after midnight, we determined that the toilet was now not flushing at all. It would swirl, but not recycle. As you can imagine, this did not make the shower desirable but, being totally exhausted, we made the decision to notify the front desk in the morning. It had gotten a little chilly, so we turned on the heating unit and holy cow did it smell just like burnt hair and must. We had to turn it off immediately. And, to top the night off, I went to lock the deadbolt, and there wasn't one. Meaning, the latch component was present, but the lock was not- you swung it over onto a bunch of nail holes where the component used to be. Combined with the fact that there is no exterior keypad entry at this hotel and you can just walk in, this was a little uncomfortable. The next morning, I went down to the front desk and let them know about the toilet. The woman working, who seemed nice, immediately offered to send up assistance/plunger, but as we were minutes from checking out, I let her know I just wanted her to have a heads up to give housekeeping. Then, the clincher- a member of the housekeeping staff standing nearby let me know that they'd been having issues with the toilets throughout the entire hotel for TWO DAYS. We were not informed of this at all, at check-in or otherwise, and I feel that we should have been. Especially given that our reservation was made in advance, they had time to bring this to our attention. Furthermore, if the entire hotel was having issues flushing, I suspect a plunger would've just been just a temporary fix to a bigger problem. On my way back up our room for our bags I overheard another conversation between housekeeping staff about yet ANOTHER toilet issue in a different room. By this time, I was shaking my head. I felt so terrible for the housekeeping staff! If the toilets don't flush, it seems like it will only be a matter of time before they begin to overflow, and then what a mess that will be! Days Inn, in general, is a basic hotel. For the price, you expect a clean bed, a working toilet and shower, and to feel safe. I can overlook the view, bad as it was, but I can't overlook the issues with the plumbing, and the missing deadbolt, as well as lack of communication from the staff about ongoing issues in the building. Needless to say, we will not be back, and will try a different hotel for our trip back to Manistee next year. read more

Okay let me start with this, 189.99 for a hotel room! I was okay with it at first because I was under the assumption that it was a nicer hotel. Boy, was I wrong!! Let me start I've traveled across 5 states in the last four days and stayed in great hotels! For the same price for one night here I stayed at 3 beautiful hotels. This place reminds me of a hotel that someone would bring a lady of the night to. I feel like they should pay me 200 a night to stay in this dump. Everything is outdated, there were bugs in our room, a/c was broken, bedding had white spots, and room had odd stench I couldn't put a finger on. Don't stay here as soon as I wake up I'm going to demand a refund for the second night I purchased. read more

Room was clean. The cold water in the shower smelled musty but other than that it was fine. About a 7 minute drive to the beach.

Worst hotel in Manistee. Save your hard earned money. Plaster is falling off ceiling, stained carpet, room smells, damage to doors, it isn't clean and although many hotels suggest you don't wash the sheets every night, they don't clean or replace anything without you telling them to and we were there for a week. Owner is pompous and doesn't keep the hotel up inside or outside. read more

Let me start with the positive, the beds we comfortable. The first room we had smelled bad when we opened the door. The smell of smoke and something bad we couldn't figure out. I took a shower and realized the water smelled horrible and the drain wasn't draining. The electrical didn't work so couldn't dry my hair. We called and changed rooms. The second room didn't have the smoke smell but still had a bad smell. My sister took a shower, it took over an hour and a half for the tub to drain of that horrible smelly water. We used bottled water to brush our teeth. There was an old flosser on the carpet. We got out of there ASAP.. Would never stay there again. read more

Do not stay here. There are other places in the area (Manistee National Golf, Casino) where you can get a much nicer room and experience for the same price. The smell of sneakers and sulpher from our room hit us in the face once we opened the door. Thankfully turning on the a/c cleared it out soon but the bathroom and the water had the same smell. Apparently the water has a really high mineral content, it stained the toilet bowl yellow..ugh. It got to the point that we bought a couple of cases of water to drink and brush our teeth with. The morning breakfast was lacking in variety....lots of white bread carbs. I've stayed at nicer places in bigger cities for less money. Gouged. read more

Probably OK... if you're Caucasian only. My boyfriend and I booked a room for three nights at this establishment Memorial-Day weekend. It was a last-minute decision to head up north for the weekend and all of the nicer rentals and B&Bs in the area were taken, so we decided to give it a try. At first I thought it was pretty decent. Nothing luxurious, but clean and comfortable and right on M-22, conveniently located near many of my favorite destinations in the area. Unfortunately, as we were packing up our things before check out, "housekeeping" came knocking on our door. My boyfriend was still in his underwear, so I told them to hold on, but after he'd thrown on some clothes, we started schlepping our bags out of the room. When I opened the door to the room, three female staff members were standing outside the door. "We know you were smoking pot in the room. We could smell it in the hallway." Really? Right as we were packing our bags and preparing to leave, someone thought they smelled illegal drugs coming from our room and came to inform us there would be a $150 charge levied against us. My boyfriend is too polite and, being a minority, is wary of entanglements with small-town local law enforcement, so he paid the unnecessary fee just to get us on our way. Apparently the hotel staff is trained to sniff out substances that aren't there--not one shred of proof was offered that we were smoking *anything* in the room--but are apparently powerless to do anything about the squealing children that were running up and down the hall outside our room around 11pm the night before. And, frankly, the timing was just too convenient. Just as we were checking out. Wouldn't have anything to do with us being an interracial couple from downstate would it? I was prepared to write a decent review of this place until they tacked on an extortionate fee at the end. Left a bad taste in my mouth. Will definitely stay at a nicer hotel or rental property next time. I bumped up the price range to "moderate" since their "smoking fee" nearly doubled the cost of our stay. read more

Clean, functional and quiet on a chilly fall weekend. Breakfast buffet was a bit sparse, maybe because few people were staying there. But if you want cereal, toast and even make-them-yourself waffles, it's OK. Staff was friendly, although they try to tack on a small charge for the in-room safe - pay attention to your bill when you check out. read more

The manager, Todd Newenhouse, is a coward who won't even return a complaint call after creating a huge mess with my credit card created by an employee who he admitted had not been properly trained and should not have handled the transaction the way she did. They charged my card after I told them we were not using it to pay, then charged my husbands card as well. The placed a hold that lastest 5 days and woudl do nothing to assist in correcting the problem. I had no access to my $250 for the whole of that 5 days and bounced checks and they refused to reimburse. NEVER STAY HERE UNLESS YOU ARE WEALTHY AND CAN HANDLE A POORLY TRAINED AND RUDE STAFF OF PEOPLE. read more

The staff is very friendly and the rooms are clean and comfortable. It is probably better than you'd expect for how inexpensive it was. My only concern was that the pool area was kind of gross. Way too many chemicals in the pool and even some lint and hair floating in the hot tub. But if I hadn't used the pool I'd have been completely satisfied. read more

I wish I could give this place no stars. The place was renovated last year, apparently. The room smelled awful, and three rooms later, it was apparent that the awful smell was just part of the ambiance and not the room. There is no fitness center and no nice area to run outside. I attempted to cancel the reservation as plans had changed with work, and they refused to cancel. I had to contact my corporate office to cancel, and even then was charged an extra night. Honestly though, the $90 loss was worth the hotel switch. The manager, Todd Newenhouse, was unwilling to negotiate or even reason with me. Days Inn has now lost my support and my experience will make it back to the company business travel coordinator. With so many options in this small town, I would suggest looking elsewhere. The poor service and outdated rooms are not worth the $90 you can spend at the golf resort down the road. read more
