There was a mixup with our room reservation however Carson took care of us! He also put chocolates in our room for us to enjoy. Carson gave me a bag for ice so I didn't have to go to my room to get the container. He was so friendly and accommodating!!! Very nice rooms. Clean. Quiet. Comfortable beds. Refrigerator, coffee maker, microwave, table and chairs in the room. Our room faced the river. Awesome view. Kept our boat at the hotel docks. Convenience room had ice, coffee, silverware, plates etc. Couldn't ask for better than this, was perfect! Fishing charters located right outside the hotel at docks. They have a fish cleaning station and freezers to keep your fish until you leave. Love that the location is centrally located downtown with great shopping and restaurants all in walking distance. Beautifully landscaped. A bush had so many butterflies I had to take some pictures! Fantastic variety of shops. Loved that we could walk the Riverwalk all the way to Lake Michigan! Very peaceful and scenic with boats going by. We stayed 3 nights and sad to leave. Would definitely recommend this hotel!! Loved our experience here!!!! read more

We stayed the night Sept 30, 2025. What a great hotel! Clean and very spacious rooms! Our room, 106 was pretty big! Couldn't even hear my hubby snore! We had a beautiful view of the river! Hot water for an awesome shower, friendly front service, nice quite hotel. The Riverwalk is right out the back door which we walked the entire thing! It's so beautiful and quite! Mold in air conditioner. Terrible customer service. Would not stay here. We decided to book a room here last minute and got the last room available. Immediately upon walking into our room (202), the air felt damp and it smelled really musty. I turned on the air conditioner and it smelled like mold. When I looked inside the vent, I could see it was covered in mold. There was also mold in the bathroom around the edges of the shower After that I returned to the front desk and explained that I didn't want to be a bother, but because of my extreme allergy to mold, I would like a refund so that I could book elsewhere. The man at the desk immediately took a condescending tone for the rest of our interaction, and told me I was wrong and that it was not mold and that I didn't know what I was talking about. It was 100% mold. My company does large scale mold remediation; I've seen LOTS. When I said that we'd just have to agree to disagree, but that I would still like a refund, he rolled his eyes and doubled down on his assertion that I was wrong and said that they have a policy of no refunds and refused to issue one, pointing to the no refunds disclaimer on the receipt. I had a choice of eating the cost and leaving to get a room elsewhere, or staying and putting up with the mold. We stayed and my allergies were miserable all night long. That was hands down one of the worst experiences I've had as a customer of any business, period. I was talked down to and treated like straight garbage. There are so many better places near here. Location, location, location, convenience, convenience, convenience. Walking distance to all the shops, restaurants, farmers market (Sat), liquor store, cigar store, shopping, etc. If you like fishing, for $75/head, Slipknot charter departs directly outside the hotel and the hotel even has large freezers on bottom level to store your catch. Sure it's not the Ritz, but it serves the purpose well. The rooms are a bit dated, large in size and the layout is a bit odd. A few examples, in our room, there was a sink in the bedroom, in addition to the sink that was in the bathroom. Our room had a ton of room, yet, the bathroom was tight. The curtains that outfitted the windows in the room were scant and see through (no black out and less modesty); and if you are on the bottom level facing the garage, the garage light will shine right into your room all night long. On Sundays, apparently a church rents one of the conference rooms downstairs, the only reason I mention this is as an fyi because the parking fills up. Parking provided is two level (top & bottom) with stairs from street to river walk level if needed. The bottom level parking is covered and accessible via an alley just pass the hotel on the right. There is a shuttle to the casino that picks up just outside the hotel at street level. The beach and lake are a straight shot down the street, a healthy walk or a short drive. If you forgot to bring anything, like we did with bug spray, the family dollar across the river has just about anything you need, shop like a local. Breakfast is a simple diy offering of bananas, packaged oatmeal, juice, milk, coffee, small cereal boxes and bagels and cream cheese.The ice machine is located in the same room as breakfast on the top level. If you are looking for a heartier start, the ice cream place on the corner is pretty popular and I hear the 1907 is good as well. Tim who manages the property is absolutely terrific and a fantastic source of information and local history. He has a handle on all things local. And in light of recent legislation in MI, looks like Manistee will be joining the growth economy but no B2C will occur. I'm not sure why this place has such low stars. It's fine as far as hotels go. Pros: it's in a great location. Walk down the cute old downtown street or by the river to a lot of great restaurants. The view out of our window is the greenery and the river. The front desk people are very nice and helpful. It's clean. Cons: It's definitely not updated, very 1970s style. Overall it's not the fanciest hotel you'll find, but it does the job. read more

Great location. Great service. Listen, this is a dated property, but for under $100 a night and having a river view, you can't complain. The rooms are large, very clean and it's nice to have a window that actually opens. You're within walking distance of pretty much anything in the historic district of Manistee. It was a pleasure to have the window open and listen to the local foot traffic on the Riverwalk and downtown areas. When I closed the window for the night, it was very quiet in the room. The parking lot is small, which during higher visitor volume could be a pain. But not impossible to handle. From May 2016. This isn't a review on the stay here because there didn't end up being one. I had booked a room for two wedding guests I was paying for who didn't have a car. The convenient downtown location would lend itself to walking around since the guests were sans vehicle. Upon my arrival into town for the wedding, I confirmed that the guests would have no trouble checking in without me there with them. Everything was fine up until this point. On Friday night my husband attempted to drop off the guests at the hotel after the rehearsal dinner. The hotel was dark and locked up even though it was only around 10pm, if that. There was an emergent number posted 2316290435 but they were unable to help b/c they were off-premise. We had to scramble and get alternative rooms at another hotel late at night, and not within walking distance which made for extra coordination on an already busy wedding day. We stayed at the Manistee Inn & Marina in October, 2011. Very disappointed. The hotel was very rundown. Most of the hallways and stairwells look like they haven't been cleaned/vaccumed in months. The rooms are in awful shape (holes in the wall, things falling apart). I guess there had been in flood in Spring 2011, but nothing has been fixed yet. The front desk said they were in the process of repairing the hotel. Downtown Manistee is pretty dead too. There are two bars, both were pretty good, and a seafood restaurant. Otherwise, not much going on. The hotel is right in the middle of downtown Manistee, right next to the river. We stayed in Manistee because we wanted to take a weekend trip up to Sleeping Bear Dunes, but nothing was available in Empire or Glenn Arbor (and we didn't want to pay $200 a night to stay in Traverse City). Thankfully we didn't spend a lot of time in the hotel room. Our rate was $55 a night plus tax. I wouldn't stay here unless you are just looking for a place to sleep during the night. Call ahead to see if the renovations and repairs (that have been going on(?) since Spring 2011) have been finished. read more

This place is a dump!!! Avoid this place like the plague. Parking sucks. The lot is tiny and if you aren't paying attention you'll drive right by. Which would be a blessing trust me!! There's a double glass door that goes past a kiosk with brochures for all the attractions in the area which distracts you briefly from the old, raggedy stained carpet. You come up the the "Desk" and maybe there's a person behind it.. most likely there isn't. WHen I checked in Eric was there and the transaction was easy and pleasant enough. He confirmed my room rate and handed me my keys.. that's right KEYS! Wait, what?? Keys with the name of the place and the room number... welcome to 1983. There's no fridge but if you buy a cooler they will give you some fishy smelling ice from the freezer downstairs. The trip to the room is down the ugly stained carpet past the less than adequate "Breakfast room" (Closet) and left to the end of the hallway. I open the door and my Nonsmoking room smells like an ashtray... YUMMY!! The second thing I notice is the carpet in the room is worse than the hallway. REALLY?? Gross! The room is huge or maybe it just seems that way since there's not much in it and the TV has a screen the size of an iPad so you can't see it from the bed. The AC unit is visibly missing parts but seems to work. There's no problem hearing the loud ass AC over the tiny TV either so that's a plus! Noticeably missing are outlets for charging your phone, iPad or iPod. I had to move the alarm clock to the other side of the room to make a place to charge my phone at night. LAME!!! The bathroom is the size of a postage stamp and the way it's set up you have to close the door to sit on the toilet or get to the tub. STUPID! Coffee maker in the bathroom?? Yes!! That's just what I want, to make coffee and poop in the same room.. PERFECT! Way to have your finger on the pulse of the guests. The bed is horrible and seems to be sloping toward the head so it feels like your head is lower than your feet. I survey the room and trot my unhappy ass to the front desk to see about a room swap. I'm informed that they're booked. This is on a WEDNESDAY.. I'm told that I can switch rooms but I'd have to move in the middle of my stay because that room isn't available on Friday night. WHAT???? Give that ass clown the crap hole you tried to give me. If it's the same room type then he won't know. That's two nights away. He'll never know you switched. At this point I'm on the phone frantically trying to find a room someplace else.. this place sucks and I'm not going to spend one second more here than I need to. Well as it turns out the rest of the town is booked. I'm stuck here for 4 nights. Damn it. The housekeeper came by the first morning and I was still in my room. I told her i was leaving soon and she excused herself. When I returned that night I found she never came back. No towels, no made bed... nothing. In four nights she came ONCE! Totally unacceptable. I go to check out on Sunday and sign my bill and leave.. Finally I'm free. This is where I made my final mistake... I didn't check my bill. I was overcharged $90+ dollars and didn't notice it till I got home. When I called to speak to someone about it I was told they couldn't make any decisions and the manager would return shortly. I wait a couple days and call back and was told that she wouldn't be able to give me a refund but a credit towards a future stay. HA! I told her flat out that wasn't going to happen and she said she'd see what she could do. Still haven't heard back.. it's been a couple weeks now. (What happened was I was quoted on the phone one price and was charged a totally different price.) Time to call American Express and cancel the entire charge. I guarantee they'll call me back then!!!! Stay anyplace else.... Tent, your car.... bus bench. this place is horrible start to finish! read more

I stayed at this inn with 7 girls total for a night. First of all, I spoke with the manager (Tim I believe) at least 3 times before we stayed there and he was very polite and accommodating each time. He gave us a room with 3 beds and a cot for 110 dollars. I was nervous before getting there, but when we got there and saw the room, it was everything we needed. The room was clean and much larger than I thought it would be. He stopped by the room to ask if we needed extra towels since we had so many people staying. How thoughtful! There was also a large breakfast with more than I expected. The view out the window was of the river and very beautiful. I appreciate his hospitality and the accommodations and I would definitely go to this inn again. Very home like!! After reading the reviews others have posted, I believe that this place has been updated and redone. I definitely didn't see some of the bad things that others have posted about. read more

The hotel manager, Tim, was friendly, helpful and very accommodating. When he saw we were traveling with our adult children he upgraded us to a more spacious room since one was available and it had a view of the river. We walked the River Walk to Lake Michigan which is located just behind the hotel. We will definitely be staying at Manistee Inn & Marina again. read more

The manager at the hotel was very nice and the hotel didn't look bad. Its an older hotel so except it to seem a bit outdated. The rooms seemed okay. There were ants in my room though. Will probably not stay here the next time Im in Manistee. The good thing is that the hotel is right in downtown and within walking distance of the local shops and restaurants. read more
