Front desk staff, Chaun, was pleasant and provided information about the local community. We were welcomed with fresh cookies and coffee/tea. The room was recently modernized, nice flat screen TV with good amount of channels, and nice sized room. The room and bathroom looked and felt clean, inside and out. Building looked maintained. The sink was separate from the rest of the bathroom; the bathroom was a good size with a shower/ tub with curved shower rod! The shower had good water pressure. The shampoo and conditioner was good - which was good since I forgot conditioner. The bed was a little softer than I'd prefer, but was still comfortable. There was a desk with a chair - which I tuned into a make up vanity. There was also a kinda-lazy boy chair - it was nice to have another chair option. The freezer didn't freeze anything, but kept them frozen. The a/c worked great, and we even had to turn to it "fan only" in the middle of the night. Breakfast was self-serve waffles, cold cereal, yogurt, juice, water, coffee/tea, hard boiled eggs There is no public restroom in the lobby area, so if you need to use restroom while enjoying breakfast, you need to hike back to your room. There is no elevator, so ask for a room in first floor if you need it. Big negative, although this is a non-smoking hotel, we saw hotel staff smoking outside the back entrance (this was the smoking area). I don't like people smoking at the doors because the smell always travels inside and I don't want to walk through a cloud of smoke. If traveling back the the area, I would stay here again. read more

I hated my stay here. We picked this place after sailing over to MI from WI on the car ferry. It seemed like a reasonable distance before continuing our journey. I thought it would have a nice view of the small lake in the town based on its location. You could see the lake from the hotel, but not from our room. The room I selected was expensive, one of the most expensive rooms in the hotel. It was no different from any other cheap, generic hotel room except it had a hot tub in it and a shower. I should have saved my money. I just wanted a nice King suite. One of the things I really hated about the virus is that it caused most hotels to shut down their breakfast buffets. Instead of hot breakfasts where you can serve yourself, you were given a bag of carbs to go. Thankfully this practice has died out, and has been dead for a long time as the virus diminished. Not here. In June 2022, the management of this hotel (notice in the lobby) is claiming that the risk of covid prevents them from providing a buffet, hot breakfast. I don't know it for a fact, but it would be my opinion the way that this hotel is run that it is simply a money making exercise, squeeze as much out of the hotel as possible, who cares about good experience for the guests. I've tried to think of something good to say about this place. I can't think of much. I slept OK is about all I can do. Apparently there are only 4 hotels in Manistee. Based on my experience, you'd be better served at one of the other ones. read more

Telephones and toilets The Super Eight Motel in the town of Manistee is a decent, clean, safe and convenient place to stay. Just an ordinary motel with nothing special but at least you won't get eaten by bugs, attacked and murdered or catch some communicable disease. For some reason we ended up with a handicapped accessible room and got a weird shower that had two spray heads and a toilet with a phone right by it. Never seen that before but it was kind of cool. And the sink was outside the bathroom in the bedroom. With didn't get to use the phone while in the crapper but everything else was nice, quiet and comfortable. Not a fancy place but a decent and cheap place to spent a few nights. read more

A very clean, fresh look hotel! I was completely happy with the staff and the stay. The manager Chuck Smith was so helpful getting reservation figured out! We have never been to Manistee and it was just amazing! Our room was fresh, and clean. Beds were COMPLETELY comfy!!! Our evening attendant Chaun was awesome due to us having a wrong TV guide in our room and confusion. Lol. Our morning lady attendant named Dawn was sweet about letting us relax and eat before leaving to our charter. We would recommend this Hotel!!! read more

I'll be honest. I've shyed away from Super 8 in the past. I typically stay at larger chains for work and didn't think they could compete. Super 8 of Manistee proved me wrong. Our room was clean and comfortable. We opted for the whirlpool room. I'm always very cautious and clean the whirlpool myself before we use it. However it was sparkling when we arrived. The fridge was large enough for beverages and leftovers. We mainly chose this location because they didn't have a pool. We were vacationing without our kids so we were looking for a quiet place that wouldn't be over run with children. We love our kids but sometimes you just need a little adult time. Most of the guests were couples. The breakfast was mostly cold options with waffles. Coffee was good. The staff were friendly. We will definitely return if we are in the area again. read more

We weren't expecting much since super 8 isn't packed with amenities but we were surprised at the entire experience. Let's start with the hotel staff. VERY friendly and knowledgeable. They went out of their way to sign us up for the rewards and provided us with local attractions. Very professional! So we enter the room. Opening the door, we are greeted by sedated classical music in a gorgeous and modern room, with flooring that was so soft my feet were screaming with delight. Seriously the color patterns and furniture were functional and sharp. The cleanliness is the best I've experienced at a budget hotel. While the Continental breakfast was truly continental, it was probably the healthiest I've eaten in awhile! Overall, I not only would recommend this hotel to family and friends, but I'll be returning myself! This place is managed and maintained well. read more

I must say I've never stayed at a Super 8 but the price was right for the short time we were going to be staying and we decided to give it a shot. I was quite impressed. The room was surprisingly clean and cozy. Comfy king size bed. I especially liked the giant picture of Mighty Mac over the bed. Very cool addition, especially since it was Michigan themed. Most rooms give you a generic picture of a boat.... The bathroom was clean as well. The lobby was disappointing and small. Two complaints I had are 1. No elevator and 2. Not enough parking and poorly lit lot. It's a pain to lug your suitcases up stairs and to your room. I understand some hotels are grandfathered into the no elevator rules but it's annoying. The parking lot is narrow with only one way in and one way out. It seems like the lot has less spots than there are rooms. Plus the fair back of the lot. Has no lighting. Doesn't seem very safe. Someone could easily go back there steal your car and no one would know or see it. I'd still say stay here if you're going to be there for a short time, it's no frills and the price was right. read more

Drip...drip....drip.... The air conditioning unit kept us up half the night. After it shut off it would drip so loud it drown out my snoring. The other half was the paper thin walls that allowed us to hear the next room over whispering to each other. I would have gone 3 stars is the rooms were nice but they were just standard Motel type rooms. The second star was because we got a microwave, free Wifi, AND a fridge. Next time I'll pay the extra twenty and stay at the Days Inn down the street. read more

Stayed here one night with my husband and baby. I'll just give a list of pros and cons. Pros: Staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. Water pressure was great. Location was nice- Right at the start of highway 22 and next to some amazing breakfast restaurants that have some really great food! Beds were comfortable and the sheets felt clean. Cons: The rooms smelled like smoke and mildew. Very dusty and terrible air quality, my baby was sneezing all night. There was a thin layer of dust over everything as well. Maintenance was lacking pretty severely. They attempted a remodel but it really just looks like someone threw a bunch of mismatched pieces of furniture in the room. The fire alarm woke us up, false alarm. Very loud, people slammed doors all night. Seemed very pricey for what we got. Overall, I'd try to find another place to stay if I were to stay in Manistee again but if I ended up here it wouldn't be the absolute worst thing. read more

For a 2 star hotel this was extremely clean and had a new feeling about it. The rooms were decently sized and had very helpful staff!

Let's all remember that it's a Super 8, not the Ritz. That being said, I thought this was a nice hotel. Room and bathroom were clean - king bed very comfortable. Check in was very easy and staff member was friendly. We didn't eat breakfast there mainly because the area was full. It seemed basic with the obligatory waffle maker. My only complaint is was the parking lot. When we arrived, there were few cars so we parked right by the door. When we returned much later in the evening, we had to park in the back parking lot which had ZERO lighting. Even a couple spotlights would have been a nice touch - that must be the reason no one uses the back entrance. That and it's covered with spiders. read more

We stayed in the Super 8 in Manistee one night only, on our tour around the east coast of Lake Michigan. I grew up on Manistee Ave. in Chicago, so felt a little bit of fondness for the town. Really liked the town. The Super 8 was comfortable and clean. Not the newest game in town, but the staff were all friendly and helpful. Really enjoyed our stay here. Passed on breakfast which was very basic, chose to go to a restaurant. Overall, we were pleased. read more

The continental breakfast was very nice and the staff continued to keep the food stocked and fresh. The entire hotel was completely remodeled and the price we paid was under $100. Ewww! Not clean, people hanging out in the parking lot smoking. Booked room for 5, was given two queens, 4 pillows, 3 towels. Found a medication capsule on the floor in the room which ended up being a blood pressure medicine, hydralazine. With three young children, what a freaking nightmare! Smoke alarm kept going off when we gave the kid their showers. A/c was on high and we had just left the beach, so the kids were freezing, so we turned on the heat. That brought a strong smell of burning to our room. Good times. Only perk was staff was friendly and we were given more pillows when we asked. Will NOT stay again!! read more

Not a lot of good options in Manistee it seems. I just might be used to higher rated hotels. This one is ok... definitely overpriced! I've stayed in far nicer hotels for the same money. That being said.., hotel staff is pleasant and friendly. The room looked clean with the exception of the old stained carpet. The queen bed comes with 3 pillows... not 4 which seems odd. The blankets on the bed are super old and the bedspread just looked gross. There is a recliner in the room that looks pretty old and dirty. I used it to throw the nasty comforter on. I couldn't sleep at all. The noise from the hallway echos loudly. Every door sounds like it's slamming. There is a washer and dryer right in the hallway which is loud. It's not off in a room- it's right in the hallway. There is no elevator so if you can't walk up stairs- make sure you request a first floor. If I had paid $75-$100 less for the night, I may have felt better about it but this is so not worth the money! There is a fridge and microwave in the room. The fridge runs a lot but it's a nice convenience if you need those things. All in all it's not terrible but I will try somewhere else in the future read more

Pretty much what you'd expect from a Super 8. It was clean and relatively comfortable with friendly staff. A couple complaints I do have though: no elevator to the 2nd floor and fake/generic Cheerios at breakfast being loaded into the bin labeled with the real Cheerios placard. The elevator is not a big deal for me, but for my mother, climbing the stairs was an unexpected chore. read more
