Dinner with Nancy after going to the Vintage Market at the American Royal building.

It was going along pretty well with a good server and decent food...until it wasn't. The Three Sauces Enchiladas had very little sauce on them, and just dry meat wrapped up in a tortilla doesn't taste great. I asked our server if I could get a little extra cheese sauce. She asked if I'd be OK with with a slight up charge. I agreed because usually that means about $1-$2 extra. But when we got our bill, a "slight up charge" for a little sauce was $6! I thought there must've been a mistake, as their idea of "slight up charge" became the price of a whole other enchilada with sauce! Server said "Well, that was a half order of sauce." I reminded her I hadn't asked for a half order of sauce, and that it might be wise to be clear with patrons about what a "small up charge" means. She said she couldn't help me, and sent a very unpleasant and irritated manager (or owner?) to the table. I explained the situation and she was adamant that she wouldn't do anything about it because I got a half order. I again said I hadn't asked for a half order; I asked for a little extra for my 3 dry enchiladas. She continued to be argumentative, and wasn't going to do anything for me. I said "I don't think you'll like the review I'm going to post on YELP" as she was walking away. Then she turned back and angrily adjusted the price. I hadn't been to Manny's in probably 25 years. And it'll be 25 more before I'll ever go back. I don't ever remember dealing with such an unpleasant manager in any restaurant.

Service and atmosphere were pleasant! Food was decent but my group was not a fan of the margs. If you like straight tequila/salt vibes, then this good be for you!

Amazing lunch menu specials. Service is quick and frequently check on you to see if you need anything extra. Ambiance is very cozy with pics of owner and different guests who have come through and eaten here. Today it's decorated for Christmas and looks very chicque. I love the classic look of the restaurant. Feels like home.

Update time - Manny's still gets you seated, gets you fed and gets you back your way - quickly. All the usual tasty menu options are available. They're cooked and served in filling portions. Service is quick and concise.

Yummy food and delicious margaritas. I cannot tell you how many times I have driven past the cute sign but tonight I finally decided to walk in. I grabbed a drink at the bar while I waited for the rest of my friends to meet up. They will not sit you without your full party, as is expected around the area. The bartender was nice. The Manny's marg was strong and delicious. Once we were sat we snacked on the salsa and chips. The house salsa was well seasoned but very mild. I was disappointed until I realized there were two different types! The spicy was peppery and perfect. The menu I had smelled of mildew but it was clean. I got the birria quesadilla. I have never had anything tastier in my life. It was cheesy and the meat was so tender and perfectly seasoned. Loved it! The food and drinks were delicious but a bit pricey.

Went to Mannys the other day with some friends and it was good per usual! It's always busy so I'm surprised our wait time wasn't that long. I don't suggest going between 7-9pm because it's BUSY. Especially on the weekends but we came on a weekday so it wasn't terrible and every one was chill. They always give chips and salsa to start and I have to catch myself that I don't get full off that because the salsa is good! I think they make it in house and you can tell! I got the burrito frito which is a fried burrito with melted cheese on top. I was skeptical but my friend told me it was good and he was right! The cheese made the tortilla softer after being fried and it was well worth the stomach ache from eating dairy lol I also got a strawberry margarita which will sneak up on you if you're not careful lol

We haven't been here in years largely because we lived out of state but just hadn't made it down here but once. Parking is always hard and a deterrent for us. Tonight we got lucky and even on a First Friday here in the Crossroads and a beautiful night. Got a front row spot right across the street in the lil dedicated lot. I had Chicken Enchiladas which were best in class, a rich mole' flavored enchilada sauce with fresh moist chicken. Loved them! Husband had a taco, pork burrito with pinto beans. Very much enjoyed his meal as well. Waitress was very friendly and helpful, we were cold with the fan above us on and she had it turned off for us. Which was nice. We will go back because my meal will be cravable (is that a word?). Pretty quick turnaround too so we were able to get to the Royals game in time which was a bonus.

Super cute and quick to sear a group of 8 with no reservation on a Friday night! Food was good value, $26 for steak fajitas. Nachos weren't the best (chips with white queso dumped all over them) but I would definitely return for the fajitas!!

I've been coming here since I was kid. I remember when Manny would walk around the restaurant to say hi to everyone. This is one of my go to restaurants for a quick, affordable and good meal in downtown KC. Highly recommend their margaritas and of course the Manny's burrito.

Spent Saturday evening here and we always love the place, the bartenders usually know us from coming in over the yrs. The food was delicious and full of flavor. They're quick and efficient and the food never disappoints. KC staple for sure. If you're in town and want good homemade Mexican food, stop by

I came to Manny's on a Tuesday night before 6. They seemed a little short staffed - the restaurant didn't seem very full, but I was told there weren't any tables and that there was only bar seating. I was quickly served some chips and dip. I ordered a taco "sin carne" with veggies, but decided to add chicken. The taco they brought out was tasty, but huge, and impossible to pick up. I had to deconstruct it with my fork, which was a bit of an awkward way to eat it, but the grilled veggies were flavorful. The restaurant itself was kind of dark, and I didn't get a good view of the main dining room since I was seated at the bar. Overall a decent spot to grab a quick bite, but nothing special about the experience.

Now I couldn't dip in the au just because it was beef but I appreciate having the option. The Mexican rice was light and flavorful. I just took a swing at it, picked up a menu, and stood there. It took a while for somebody to acknowledge that I was there. The person who took my order was super involved, which is cool, but they needed some help, and the person who came by to help them seemed to be rather impatient, so that was one of the first things I noticed. They do bring your food out in a reasonable amount of time, delivered to your table. You have a number that attaches to a metal wand that they give to you. So the water station is set up in the back, you get your own water, but they were out of cups. They had a really cool aesthetic to it, with like the garage door where you can see all the downtown. The only problem was that the sun went down, and it started to get rather cold. Nobody ever closed the door, but I ordered the Asada fries. 3/5 heavy on the seasoning, but not so much on the flavor, it came across. It's kind of salty. I thought it would be different than what it was. The portion size was fine, and the green sauce that they offer you on the side really makes it better. Also ordered the CHORI queso dip lied on the chorizo for the portion size. The flavor was also a three out of five. The chip that they give you with it has a nice, good texture and reasonable seasoning. My wife had the mushroom Tinga tacos. She gave him four out of five. She really enjoyed them. The atmosphere is cool. The weights staff are really cool. I'd consider coming back on a Thursday. They have this cool thing that you can try new and upcoming dishes, and then they also have brunch, so I'm thinking about giving them a second shot. The food was done at the quoted time and was accurate. The one individual I encountered was friendly. The menu was very straightforward-tacos, burritos, and a few other items, all can be customized. I had to get an order of chips and queso. I really liked their queso. It had good flavor and wasn't overly spicy. The chips were fresh and held up to the queso nicely. I'm definitely probably alway going to order this when I go. I also tried a taco with carne asada. The tacos are the street variety but they are really good sized. They don't skimp on the meat. And the carne asada was really good. No gristle or gross bits. It was chopped finely and I'd definitely order it again. I also had to try a burrito. I tried the El pastor for that and added on all the toppings-cheese, sour cream, lettuce, tomato, and avocado. I also opted for extra meat because it was super cheap-like $1, so why not? Again, I was not disappointed. I did throw my burrito on the good 'ol George Foreman when I got home because they don't grill it at all and I wanted some grill marks on that tortilla. Otherwise, the el pastor was flavorful and tender and the toppings were all fresh.
