The drinks are great, the ladies at the bar are super friendly and the environment is great but the dj doesn't know how to keep a crown dancing. It's Friday night and there is no one dancing because the flow of the music is terrible. Will be back just for drinks.

Married couple and entire wedding party here... Weird as shit!

I dont know what to say... We went to P&L... My first time going whilst living here for 4 months... I was disappointed. There were girls walking around in bikini tops and jeans shorts that had no business doing so. *As bigoted as it sounds... Its still true* The shirtless men were sculpted which made them more noticeable. There were boxes I wanted to do box-jumps on... But too slippery from all the spilled drinks by dancing fools. The drinks were waaay over priced, but the sexy bartender did hook up my birthday boys drank so that was nice. The girl at the coat check/cover charge box was rude. You know who you are, because you know you be rude... ALL. DAY. LONG. Then a wedding party of about 40-50 came in and stole the show. It was awesome to see a bride in her $8000 wedding gown (trust me... it was nice) saturate all that spilled alcohol. Not my place for an after wedding throwdown... But they were having fun. This was the only "dancing" place we went to that night after McFaddens, because we did not want to pay cover again for something just as terrible... The only reason this isnt 1 star is relativity to the rest of the joints there and the sexy bartender that took care of the birthday boy. Ive been to these kinds of dance/bars places before... And I did not expect this on the P&L.

The service manager saw us eyeballing the menu on the board and answered out questions, then invited us in. My family of four was sat in a booth in the middle of the restaurant with good visibility around the entire establishment. Ambiance was good, considering that its not inherently a family place. Old tap pulls adorn the ceiling and the light is just bright enough to not strain your eyes, but not so bright that there is glare off every surface. I ordered a cowboy coffee (espresso with tequila, very interesting) and a waffle smash burger sandwich. The table got fries as an appetizer and some kind of fried donut thing that I could have sworn was a Zeppole. As always, let's start with what was good... The appetizers were very good. The dips on the fries were both amazingly good. So much so that I used them on my side of fries after the kids ate all the ones in the basket. The waffle smash burger had a good flavor considering I had never paired a waffle with beef. Prices were agreeable for Westport, but its Westport so there is a slight premium. Servers were pretty much everywhere, so it was never too long for any request we had to be taken care of. On the flip side of that, there was a server doing side work dead center of the restaurant which was kind of awkward. I am used to seeing side work done in somewhere inconspicuous so it was just a little odd, but not off putting. Now let's look at the things that could be better... The dipping sauces for the Zeppole were not thick enough to actually stick to the delicious treat. The berry sauce really needed to be reduced further because it was too thin by far. Delicious, but thin. My waffle for the smashburger sandwich was too oily by far. I think this may have been an intentional choice considering that the waffle serves as the "bun" for the sandwich and maybe the oil was an attempt to keep the juice from the burger and the sauces from turning the waffle into mush. It worked... but it did take away from the flavor by obscuring the taste of the waffle itself. My egg was cooked to specification, so that's a win, but my partner's egg was overcooked. Consistency! Very important and yet not guaranteed, I think. The biggest problem I have with the brunch at Beer Kitchen though isn't the food, but the menu itself. There is not any way to construct a decently priced "simple breakfast." If you're not that hungry, or adventurous, you may find the menu difficult to contend with. I would consider adding something like "the Oldtimer" and have it be two eggs, a meat, toast, and fruit. Price it at 13.99 and leave it alone. Overall, the Beer Kitchen is a nice little brunch spot. So much so that we intend on making it a semi-frequent stop for us on days when the kids want to venture down towards the Plaza. 4 stars. Has room for improvement but is a solid experience for what you pay.

The bartenders are always amazing, and are up for offering a sample if you're between a few options. They are always patient with me as I make my decisions! The ambiance is very chill, with pool and lots of tvs that are showing everything possible. They do trivia every Wednesday, and that is a great time! My only complaint is that the place can get pretty loud because of the acoustics, but when it isn't super busy (or if it is nice outside) that is ideal! Last but not least, they have a Nightmare Before Christmas party day, which includes a beer goblet and a series of special beers each year. Take the KC Streetcar if urban parking is not your thing. The nearest streetcar stop is the Crossroads, so it's only a couple of blocks to walk, eezy peezy. Service is friendly and timely, you can cheer for the locals or whatever else might be on a screen at that time, and enjoy one of dozens of self-service taps. Get a beer card from the bar or your server, grab a glass from the rack to the left of the taps, put your card on the reader, pull the tap, and ZAM! Bob's your uncle. Pull for just a pint or sample up & down the line and just know you're paying by the ounce. What's not to like? Taps on Main has a strong wing game and they're serious about keeping it that way. There are almost a dozen sauces or rubs that you can get, and order your wings by 10 or 20. I'm one for sweet heat, so the Korean Gochujang is my target. Wings are sauced nicely, not smothered, and a basket of 10 wings is gracious plenty for a 'serving'.
