My grandfather has not had a good experience with this facility. Here are the reasons why…read more 1)The director of the facility chooses to speak to family rather than the residents themselves involving issues. This contradicts the "independent" living motto and emphasizes "dependent" living. This can be harmful to senior citizens because it takes away their autonomy and makes them feel as if they cannot solve problems on their own. It also excludes residents who are fully mentally capable of communication. Not all residents are created equal - some do not have any major ailments that produce cognitive difficulties. 2)They serve cold dinners to your room and their solution to the problem is to serve sub sandwiches 3)They will skip dinners that you request to be brought to your room, and if confronted about it, the cooks ignore you and act like you do not exist. 4)When you request a drink and it is "out of stock" they do not offer a solution. Instead, they say they're all out and walk away like you are an annoyance. At least there are some good workers who hear this conversation and check the stock to see if it is truly in stock, which then come to find out, the first worker was too lazy to check and it can be provided to you. 5)They do not do laundry regularly. They blame it on staff issues. I'm fact, after requesting for two months for your bed sheets to be washed, they will continue to blame it on staff and eventually you depend on your family to come and wash your bed sheets. 6)You will get bleach stains in your clothes when they do your laundry and instead of it being the staff's fault, it is your fault for spilling something on it. They do not even offer to replace your clothing. 7)If you have circulation issues and get cold easily, and the heater breaks, it will take days to repair it most likely because of staffing. It will also take multiple reminders. Overall, it seems as though the staff talks down to the elderly like they have the mental capability of a 5 year old. They ignore, deny, and blame you on issues that the facility is responsible for. It seems as though it is a waste of money to live here because they ruin your clothes, do not bring meals to your room when offered, do not take you serious or refuse to speak to you about manners regarding your stay, and their equipment breaks in the room that you stay in. I suggest you look elsewhere for a place to live if you have an elderly person you care for deeply and you want them to be heard and respected.

We are told many things about what should happen and see less of these services provided to her. Pricing for level care goes up while the care level goes down. Under provisions there were a few quirks but over all the residents seemed to be cared for. Now that Story Point has acquired the business things are changing but don't seem to be for the better. There has pretty much always been general house keeping issues but now there are care issues. There have been issues with her falling with irregular decisions on sending her to the emergency room weather she needs it or not. The new issue is her eating, my sister walked in found her sleeping covered in food with the bowl and more soup on the floor. They informed her earlier that if my mother needs help they will not help her. Earlier this week my other sister was helping my mother and she was informed that she did not need too that the staff would take care of it. Which one is it ? what do they consider assisted living?

The nursing staff is excellent and takes great care of all the residence. During Covid-19, the protocols they put in place to protect the residence were creative and met all state guidelines. They went above and beyond to schedule ZOOM meetings so that families could still visit with their loved ones. My Mom, at 96, has thrived since moving in and loves it and all it caregivers. The Management Team does everything in their power to make sure their lives are filled with fun, love and companionship.

Of course the transition of moving from her home of many years to an independent living community wasn't the easiest move but she couldn't be happier. And if mama's happy, her kids are happy! The community is gorgeous -- anyone can see that but the staff is incredible! The compassion, respect and care given by the entire team tops any senior community out there. It's obvious they work so well together as a team -- you don't see turnover like other communities. The residents are like family -- everyone looks out for one another and truly enjoy each other's company. Cedarbrook is the most wonderful place for our Mom. We are so glad we found you.
