My friend and I just happened to stop here before camping at Four Jeffrey's and it will now be the only grocery shop we go to in Bishop because of the high quality people (I absolutely love the store clerks) and huge selection of food (at amazing prices). The selection and customer service of this sweet locally-owned neighborhood market couldn't be better. I love shopping here. However, the prices are just a bit over-the-top. Especially considering they serve a historically disenfranchised part of the community and others living in poverty in West Bishop. I understand them needing to charge a bit more than a large chain store, but they go a little too far. Also, the way the fresh vegetables are packaged in plastic together as if everyone is shopping for a family of four leaves out the opportunity for a single person to, say, purchase one zucchini. I think they can do better for their community. read more

It's good to know if I need anything when I'm in Bishop, I can go to Manor market and they will have what I need. Soft Sourdough bread, beers, wines, produce, water, dairy, meats, specialty items, hot coffee, a small selection of fishing tackle for fishermen and women. Love these local neighborhood markets. My 1-star rating focuses on management's lack of commitment to pandemic safety and unwillingness to ask staff to comply with Inyo's local health officer order mandating use of masks indoors in public settings. Inyo County has recently had the highest COVID-19 case rate in the state and one of the highest in the nation. We have lost a lot people to the pandemic. Wearing a cloth face mask provides some benefit to the wearer in terms of reducing the risk of acquiring infection, but such masks are better at protecting others-reducing the chance of transmitting unrecognized infection to other people. When you Manor counter staff refuse to wear a mask in the name of "freedom", you're basically saying "F*ck you" to the many members of our community who want to reduce the number of people damaged and killed by the pandemic virus. Our family have been customers for years and historically Manor's mostly young staff have been diligent and helpful, so it is distressing to experience this change. We would like to continue frequenting Manor Market but will not do so unless Kyle and Co. decide to get responsible and follow public health orders. read more

This family has been in the Owens valley for many many years. Their beautiful small market is full of delicious produce meats cheeses and all kinds of Organic healthier choices, especially those of us who are forced to eat gluten free. Who knew a little gem like this could be found in Bishop? I was driving past looking for a quick bite on my way into the backcountry, and I picked up a breakfast sandwich to quell the hunger. Walking around the store, there was plenty to consider (alas, without refrigeration and not wanting to pack in the weight, I opted to stay with my freeze dried provisions), with a large and decent wine and alcohol selection. There are also a number of take-away hot food options for lunch if you are on the go. For car camping, this would certainly be the spot to provision up. On the way out, I stopped again, this time for gas, which was also quite reasonable. I am not in town much, but this would be one of my stops in town next time I am headed that way. read more

During the pandemic I began using the Vons pick up and go option. Not out of FEAR but out of a necessity to stay away from idiots in the public. When I heard Manor Market believed in freedom of choice regarding masks I started shopping there. Was pleasantly surprised that everything Vons was out of Manor had in plenty. This is the closest place to Trader Joe's in the Owens Valley. They've got a great selection of cheeses, microbrews, and seasonal local produce from Apple Hill and backyard gardens. It's on the way to the Buttermilks so if you're heading from SoCal you can save yourself a trip to Von's. There's also a drop-off recycling facility out back. read more

Stopped by here on way to go camping. Had specific agenda. Here are my thoughts: Clean organized helpful staff. I came in for one item and it was for rice paper to make spring rolls. I called it to ask and they had it!! Was so stoked. Got there and there was an aisle for Asian condiments and stuff! I was surprised! Grabbed the rice paper package and something caught the corner of my eye. Un, there's Wasabi mayo??!! What in the world?? Ok I'll try it!
