If you are not white, they are not really welcome you. Their meat is good but service is a nightmare. (service at the hot food/sandwich was just fine) They are super racist. The lady at the cashier keeps ignoring me and sister because we are not white. No any smile nor greeting and say Hi to the other group behind us. On the final day of my road trip I had to pay a visit to Mahogany Smoked Meats. I had only ordered one of their great smoked hams online but had never visited the place in person until the morning of June 21st. I walked in knowing what I wanted to order. I wanted a slab of their double smoked bacon but they were sold out. Looking in the freezer I saw that they had double smoked bacon ends and pieces. Sold! I bought that and ordered a breakfast burrito. Walking up to the counter a friendly young lady said I could make my burrito that way I want to. She handed me a paper with all I could have placed inside. I chose double smoked bacon, smoked pepper jack cheese, avocado and potatoes with a side of spicy salsa. After filling out the slip I was told it would take about 10 minutes. I patiently waited and when my order was ready I took my bacon and burrito out to my vehicle. I ate my burrito in my vehicle, because my dog Frankie was inside. The burrito was wrapped in foil, was big, piping hot and smoky delicious. That double smoked bacon was awesome. I usually don't order potatoes and these were cooked to perfection. In all the whole burrito screamed flavor and their spicy salsa added the perfect touch that completed the flavor profile. I look forward to next summers road trip for a return visit and of coarse I will be ordering one of their smoked hams for the holidays. By the way Frankie loved the burrito as well. read more

Service in the grocery area was pretty good (we took home some smoked sausages), but service in the food/restaurant area was insanely slow and poorly communicated. The lady working behind the counter was really nice, but took orders slowly and didn't call names out when handing out orders. If the food wasn't as good as it was, I'd say it wasn't worth it. If you're looking for a quick pit stop, the bathrooms are nice but be prepared to walk across the property to get to them. read more

Jerky line is crazy at this place! This establishment has been around for over 100 years since 1922 So you best bet it's some best dried meats the Mammoth area. Very old general store rustic. If you enjoy suffering with spiciness, try the habanero beef jerky. Extreme heat that lingers intensely! I was sweating after eating the first piece. There's always a line when we stop by here leaving Bishop, so be prepared to spend some time waiting here. I bookmarked Mahogany Smoked Meats to visit on my recent work trip to Bishop and was glad we had time to stop by. At around 5:15pm on a Thursday, the location was pretty empty, but I noticed a lot more cars in the parking lot in the morning the next day. The employees that we chatted with seemed pretty apathetic, but understandably it was near closing time. Still, they answered our questions and gave us samples of the jerky we wanted to try. I really enjoyed the sweet & spicy and teriyaki brisket jerkies. The other samples I tried of the regular beef and turkey jerkies were on the tougher side for my taste. I also got a pack of the salami and pepper jack cheese to bring home. The brisket jerkies are my personal favorite items, even with their premium pricing per ounce. Worth the treat! The salami and pepper jack were good, but not noticeably smokey tasting. We didn't get a chance to try the sandwiches, but they sounded great. read more

Super lax, chill rest spot for a quick bite to eat on the way to mammoth. They have a deli side and a beef jerky, other jarred goods side. We got the breakfast burrito and the pastrami sandwich. My bf said the sausage in the burrito had some weird chewy hard bits in it and had to spit out... but my sandwich was good!! Tasty and came with potato salad and pickle spear. So we know this place for their beef jerky and bacon... stop off here almost every time we go to Mammoth. This trip we decided to grab a sandwich for us and our kiddo. We shared a BLT and got our little a grilled cheese. Pricing is amazing! Sandwiches don't come with anything else (other than a sliced pickle) but we were fine with that. I don't know why we were so surprised that the BLT was so delicious; their bacon is to die for, but it was sooo good. And the kids grilled cheese was just as good. We stopped off on our way home too to stock up on some more beef jerky. Grabbing sandwiches here will be added to our new tradition tho. The sandwiches are huge from the "Favorite's"! I ordered "The Stroke" which had pastrami and corned beef. It was loaded! They toast the buns and add mayo and mustard. The service was fast, it took a few minutes for the sandwiches to come out, but it's well worth it. It's a red shop in Bishop across from Wave Rave. It's clean inside with a few tables to dine in! Came here for the breakfast burritos, they give you a check list of things you want to add to the burrito. I got it with breakfast sausage with a multitude of other veggies. The burrito was packed with all the ingredients, so each bite had a multitude of flavors in it. I think for $13 per burrito, it is a little bit on the pricier end, but worth a try. I asked her not to put the sticker that they put on the bags and hand it to me instead of I was going to wrap the meat when I arrive back in LA and she's like we sell these stickers I explained to her that I do not want to buy a sticker I simply want the sticker that she puts on the bag hand it to me instead of her putting it on the bag at the store. She already have taken it out by now from the role that has about a thousand of these stickers and it instead of getting me a new one she literally put back the one that she almost put on the back back on the peel off paper and handed it to me. So good had to visit on the way back. 1oz sweet&spicy Turkey, 1oz habanero buffalo, 2 oz chipotle beef, 1 oz teriyaki ~$22 in total. Buffalo is gamier and less tender. Side note: On my was out of Bishop Mon 3-30-2026 I visited, hoping for a breakfast burrito, about 8 am. No one at the counter, one customer in line ahead of me. I've been coming to Mohogany for decades for their jerkey. There is a great variety of meats, including some wild game, and styles. The prices might seem expensive but its value to what you pay at markets. Today, we tried the sandwich bar. We're normally customers of the bakery down the street but thought we avoid their crazy weekend line. Sadly we were disappointed. It was just an okay sandwich bar. I've been frequently Mahogany Smoked Meats since the 1960's. Their jerky is absolutely incredible. My favorite is the Cowboy jerky. And that's for two reasons. The flavor and texture is incredible! But, the Cowboy jerky makes me slow down and enjoy it (gnaw on it), unlike most of their other jerkies where I can inhale a pound in an afternoon. The Cowboy jerky contains massively thick chunks of steak. If I was in the John Muir backcountry and being chased by a bear , tossing one of these to him would stop him in his tracks, and afford my escape. Seriously though, don't feed our bears. And while they are famous for their jerky, their best item IMO are their slabs of double smoked bacon where you can slice it as thick as you want. The best bacon ever! And Easter wouldn't be Easter without ordering one of their whole hams. Lastly, try to find their ham hocks. Those ham hocks make the best split pea and navy bean soups ever!!! read more

Always a must stop whenever I go up to Mammoth. It's located near the north end of the small town of Bishop, just past the Vons. Parking is very dry easy and they have clean restrooms in the lot. They sell jerky, pig ears for dogs, and theres also a deli. Their BLT from the deli is a MUST HAVE! It's a bit expensive ($11.50) but it tastes so good. However I feel like this place is a victim of shrinkflation considering the decreasing portion sizes. read more

Honestly this is my preferred sandwich spot in the Bishop area. Each time I am in Bishop I stop here. There is a much shorter line and the sandwiches are much more substantial and flavorful. Weve had both the handyman and the turkey sandwich. Both are well balanced with meat and sauces. I do wish there was vegetables on it but this is a meat place afterall. They do include a pickle and potato salad with your sandwich and I dont usually like potato salad but theres is not just creamy but flavorful. This was a must stop location on the way up to Lake Tahoe, as we stopped in Bishop along the way. Granted I didn't know there was a Tahoe location too. I've only come to the Bishop location. If you're ever cruising up the 395, this is a must stop shop for either the jerky or to dine in for some great sandwiches. If it was earlier I would of tried their breakfast burrito everyone is talking about. Since they were out of pastrami and we were allowed to substitute some of the meats, I had a Handyman Sandwich without the turkey. I believe I added some corn beef, which made for a delicious sandwich. Of course we picked up a variety of jerky to go. So take the time and stop in and enjoy some wonderfully smoked meats. read more
