One small item I was looking for was empty on the shelf. They looked it up on the computer and said "It is on the truck and will be in the store today by 2:00" I came back and the shelf was full. Mansfield Supply, the name says a lot. I've been going there for almost 12 years and have always enjoyed the folks manning the store. They are all very helpful, knowledgeable in just about everything "hardware", and service is number one for them. I live in Storrs and am so glad that they are located so close to me, 1.7 miles, which is much closer than HD or L's. They're open every day they say they will be and don't close early. The selection of items in their store gets me by on 90% of my DIY projects. Nuts and bolts are a specialty for them, and fasteners of all kinds. Plumbing, paints, sheet rock tools, garden items, automotive items, power tools, hand tools, rope, springs, and much more. I consider them almost personal friends. Blessings to them all! read more

Came in looking for a turkey baster to help take out oil from my car because I had put to much in early that day. I tried using it but it wouldn't into where you put the oil, so I went back in looking for something else. The worker recognized me and saw I was struggling and as a UConn student I really didn't have the tools to lower the oil level from emptying some out of the drain. He quickly responded to the situation and helped without hesitation, bringing out everything we needed, and doing it himself. This is what you want in a family run business. Ugh. I've been here quite a number of times since I moved to Coventry in August 2014. The first time I went in, I was excited to support a local family owned business in my new area. I usually make it a personal mission to avoid chains if I can. However I was very disappointed on my first visit and every one since. The prices are high which I would have been willing to overlook if the service was good. The main issue I have is that everyone who works there is so incredibly miserable! To encounter such sour faces and unhelpful attitudes every single time I walk into the building is more than I can bear. Not once have I ever been asked if I needed help finding something (even when I was browsing in different departments) or even experienced a smile when checking out! Customers are your livelihood! We shouldn't be treated as a burden! This past visit was the last straw. My husband and I stopped in on a Saturday night a good hour before closing. We approached the elderly cashier to ask about a palm sander. The woman practically rolled her eyes at every single question we had! Trudging back to where the power tools were kept like it was such a chore! After selecting one to purchase, she said "well, I guess I can go see if we have one in back". Sorry to bother you! Sheesh! After bringing it out, we asked about the clip in pads for the sander. Again with a barely contained contempt, she led us to the seperate section where we could find the pads. Listen, lady, next time we need replacement pads we won't bother you at your store. So sorry to put you out. And heaven forbid! We asked her yet ANOTHER question. This whole time: not a smile, not a greeting, nothing but thinly veiled hostility for a PAYING customer! I go out of my way to support local businesses and I recommend everyone do the same. But steer clear of this one, they don't deserve it. If you hate your business and your customers so much, sell it to someone who might have a little pride in customer service...maybe even the bare minimum of a smile on their face when they come to work. I'm going to Lowe's from here on out. This is on my "never again" list. Maybe until I see "under new ownership" hanging out front. read more

I have been doing business with Mansfield Supply for over 30 years. Yes they "may" be more expensive that going to a big box store, but that is not always the case especially for true hardware items (as opposed to power tools). I am not sure what happened when Kira M. visited the store, but her experience is not the norm. One does need to get help from one or the owners to find many of the items. There is inventory downstairs and out back in a separate building so it not exactly "self service". My most recent purchase was poles to hang bird feeders. They did not have the style I wanted in the rack next to the front window. I wanted to match the ones I had purchased there several years back. We ended up going down stairs and sorted through several dozen poles before finding the right style. Often if I am looking for a specific item, I will call ahead. They are always willing to look throughout the store to see if they have it on the shelf. There isn't much here in Ashford so it is very convenient having them close by. read more

THE BEST PART? The gorgeous circular wood counter at the register. It's rare to see that, and to me it shows their commitment to craftsmanship. We searched for a hardware store while in the Pomfret area this weekend. We needed a bunch of carabiners for a project, and we knew we were not very familiar with the area. Yelp listed this hardware store, and the app guided us right there. As we walked in, I could instantly see how clean and organized it was. It is clear to me that they take pride in their store. We walked around for a moment or two, and I peeked down some aisles. It looked like they were well stocked, and I felt like they had a wide selection. We were greeted by a gentleman at the desk, and he asked how he could help. We told him what we needed, and he walked us right to that display. We paid for what we needed, and off we went. I regret that we were on such a fast track that day, and we couldn't explore the store a bit more... I hope to go back at some point. The only reason why I had to give them 4 stars instead of 5 is because I felt like the prices were high. But it's a great store, and I'm always happy to support a local establishment. read more

Went here a few weeks ago to pick up a few odds and ends for our recently purchased house. I found the prices to be a little bit high but that is expected compared to Loews and Home Depot. I appreciate that it is a small, independently owner business. Despite it's size the selection of products was pretty good. However, the service was terrible. The two employees working that day side-eyed me and acted as if I was imposing on them by asking where something was located. In a pinch, I returned. I am glad I did because my second visit was much better. This time around a middle aged man helped me find what I needed and was super nice. Even helped me bring things out to my car! So I guess customer service is luck of the draw. I hope that my first experience was a fluke & can be chalked up to people having a bad day... read more

I don't live around here but was installing a light fixture in my girlfriend's dining room, and because her electrical box is recessed, none of the mounting screws that came with the fixture were long enough. Even worse, they were in the mounting bracket with locknuts and I could not get them out, so off to Mansfield Supply I went. Not only did they have the longer screws, but they used a saw to remove the old screws (no charge for this) so I could install the fixture and everything fit. They were super helpful and accomodating. Plus they had some light bulbs for the fixture because it used the smaller chandelier bulbs. Great place! Mansfield Supply is the greatest. I often go in with a problem that tends to be a bit weird and which I have no idea how to solve. They have always been helpful. They have most often been able to order things that they don't normally stock: large beveled mirror and a large thick low iron glass. Hats off to Mansfield Supply. read more

Mansfield Supply is the best. You may have to turn to HD for lumber. Other than lumber, you can find everything you need in this small store. There are household items, paint, tools and any plumbing or electrical part you might need. But more than anything their knowledge and service is incomparable. read more

Mansfield Supply is a wonderful family hardware store with extremely helpful and friendly staff. They go out of their way to help me with my various home improvement projects. The store is well stocked and well organized. The store has hardware, tools, gardening supplies, lumber, and they even have window screen repair. They also have free delivery in the area.
