Watch out for Home Depot, they have some built-in scams: I ordered enough carpet to receive "free" installation. After I placed the order, I wanted to confirm the yardage and come to find out they added on four extra yards to my order to the tune of over $400. After some heated inquiry, I found that the reason they added the extra yardage on my order was to offset the "free" installation. I canceled the order and went to Lowe's and got much better treatment. I will never shop at Home Depot again. I'm sick and tired of sleazy practices. There's a lovely hardware store near me, Mansfield Supply, which has almost everything and you get personal service, good quality, and fair prices. I have been trying to get my sliding glass door bought and installed since March. I finally talked to a person to find out that this door I picked out because it was in stock shouldn't take long to get installed. I picked it out and put it on my charge card only to just now be told it was a special order door and I can not cancel the order and it won't be seeing at the store until September 27th and then we could set up a delivery and install date. Do not do any major work through this Home Depot. This is crazy I should of gone to Lowes. And no one can explain how a in stock door became a special order door. I drive to my next destination to realize I didn't get the whole order. WTF on line and curbside pickup it the safest way for me to shop. I think the Corporate stores don't care. We ordered curbside and they said it'd be available at 5:30 we had 4 items on the order and no one else has gone into the curbside area with the intention to pick up an order. It's been over an hour, nearing 2 now. If we didn't need the items ordered we would have left by now. What the hell are they doing? They told some bullshit that we were next and our order would be out soon at 6. This is an absurd wait for 4 items when they have no other orders. Advertises dates of individuals injuries right on their uniforms!!!!!!! Shop somewhere else!!! While being assisted by a friendly salesperson. I noticed a tag with a number on the persons shirt. I have been safe for **** days. I said what is that? The manager came over and confirmed all employees wear a badge which shows the date of their last work place injury. EXCUSE ME????? It is NOT my business who got injured or when. Individuals injuries should be private and employees not forced to wear their date of injury on their chest. A truly disgusting and most likely legally violating act of privacy. As a nurse I find this revolting and maddening. I found three associates standing around talking by lumber. I basically had to interrupt them. They seemed bothered. Literally the WORST Home Depot in the State of CT - avoid at all costs! I ordered a medically necessary air purifier from the online store because N Windham did not have one in stock. It arrived. 6 days late and so damaged it's unusable. I ordered it in enough time to accommodate my guests who need this. I phoned the store and asked if someone would help my husband return the damaged item, and help him find something similar in stock because I need it today (6 days after the promised arrival date). The customer service rep was rude on the phone and even worse to my husband, for him to notice it's bad as he works in a max security prison and deals with rude all day every day. They refused to expedite shipping on a replacement. They did not offer to show him what they had. Their reasoning was "online isn't us, we're totally separate" Really? Home Depot is Home Depot. And this one sucks. Every time we go there there's an issue. UPDATE: the order was further screwed up, when I asked GINO over the phone to help me because I'm disabled and can not physically be in the store he laughed and hung up. I ordered a GE fridge online. The point of contact for the delivery was Home Depot in Windham, CT. The store itself is fine but the delivery company is an abomination to the entire world. There must be frequent issues with these delivery companies since the 3rd party delivery company's name is not listed on the delivery slip. The only thing to identify the company is a shipper's number (1019636864), which yields no relevant results when searching online. Considering that the Windham Home Depot is the point of contact and the delivery company is somehow tied to this location, I am making the review for HD in Windham. The first delivery attempt I had ended up not being completed as the delivery guys said the new fridge would not fit. I knew I had measured and that it would fit but they talked me into refusing delivery. After they left, I re-measured everything and could see that the fridge would fit. I took a trip to HD in Windham and rescheduled redelivery for about a week later. I had no issues with rescheduling and both deliveries were on-time. The 2nd delivery was successful but problematic. It's clear that whoever HD uses to deliver appliances tries to get out of doing any actual work. The 2nd delivery "team" comes in, measures the front door opening, the stairs and the opening to the kitchen. One of the guys is quite vocal about how he feels and lacks any sort of mental capacity to filter what he thinks, so whatever he's thinking just ends up dribbling out of his mouth, even if it's bad. He was upset because the openings were tight, and even though the fridge would fit, he didn't want to bring it in even though I said, "it will fit, it can come in". While setting up the new fridge prior to bringing it in, the vocal guy was mouthing off about me to his partner in Spanish. I might not understand everything he said but I got the gist of it. There is a reason why someone like this gets stuck delivering appliances for a living - he doesn't have basic interaction skills and can't handle anything above this in his life. With this in mind, it's surprising that any company would allow an individual like this to interface with paying customers. I also ordered a 12 foot braided line for the water hookup. Once they looked at the setup, they would not hook it up. With all the packaging that got left behind, I didn't notice that they never brought/left me the water line that I paid for. The hookup ended up being easy since I had a water line in place but was going to switch out the old line with a nice, new braided line. I had to buy another water line since HD and/or their delivery company stole the one I ordered and paid for. I won't be using Home Depot for appliances ever again. I refuse to be treated like a scumbag by someone that looks like he just left a maximum security prison. To top things off, Home Depot only allows 48 hours for reporting problems with your appliances so be mindful of that. After 48 hours, you will be left dealing with the manufacturer. Had a wonderful shopping experience. I had an associate walk with me helping me find what I needed throughout the store. This helpful went out of his way to help me find everything on my list and when I needed input on which option to select for tools he called on another helpful associate to give us input on our options. I've been to this Home Depot before with fairly good experiences, but this was and amazing experience. Associates were polite and professional, but also were friendly in a comforting personal way. I can say I have never had this kind of customer service at any other retail store. I believe Home Depot is making progress from the old attitude we used to see. read more

On 12-8 17 I went into Home Depot in Windam Ct to order a new counter and sink. There was no one there to place my order because the lady in that dept. called out. This was a big deal to me because I really do not get out that often because of health reasons. My husband and I purchased a whirlpool fridge and matching dishwasher at your North Windham, CT location on December 23rd, 2016. We were assisted by Doug in the appliance department. Doug was wonderful, helpful, informative and available without being pushy. He helped us make our choices and also helped us with the decision to purchase the extended warranty on our fridge. Our purchase total, including the parts and installation on the dishwasher, was close to $2000. Our products could not be scheduled for delivery until Jan 14th, which was fine and understandable. Lots of people buy appliances around the holidays. We find out on Jan 13th that our shipment is in two deliveries for some reason - and they are scheduled from 10-2 for the fridge, and from 1-5 for the dishwasher, which leaves us stuck in the house waiting, all day. It's upsetting but not the end of the world. We clean and empty out our fridge and await delivery. That is, until the company who you paid to deliver our fridge calls us to tell us their trucks do not drive up hills, and will not be attempting to make delivery of our fridge because our driveway is a hill. We have lived in this house for five years and have had all sorts of delivery trucks successfully navigate our driveway. We were very upset. The delivery driver told us he would be coming up to our house to see if they could even get the fridge in the door, but unless WE provided a truck to get the fridge up the driveway there was nothing they could or would do. They told us we would have to contact Home Depot. They refused to walk the fridge up with their handtruck. My husband walked down to meet them, but apparently they changed their minds and just drove off with our fridge. I called the store to ask what to do. When a manager called me back she was astonished and said this had never happened before. She also indicated that the company did not have a manager or anyone on duty to discuss how we would be getting our fridge. At this point, we are extremely frustrated. BUT that is not the end of the day. Our dishwasher arrives - somehow, the truck made it up to our house. Wonderful. The techs remove our old dishwasher and install the new one, which is beautiful and looks fantastic! They leave. About two hours later, I go into the kitchen to prepare dinner and almost fall on my soaking wet floor. I pull open the cabinet under the sink to find that the hose that the techs hooked up is spraying water. My husband and I are not plumbers, which is why we paid the money to have it installed by who we were assured were professionals. I call Home Depot yet again and speak to another manager, who again was polite and shocked to hear that our dishwasher was not hooked up correctly and we had a hose spraying our kitchen down. He gives us a number to call the company who installed the dishwasher. We call, and are told the techs will call us back with their arrival time, and that they understand plumbing is a serious issue. Apparently they don't, because the techs tell us they cannot get back to us until Monday or Tuesday! Which means my husband and I have to: Take time off of work to be at home waiting. Not only Monday but perhaps Tuesday, And who knows what that call is going to be about? Will we get someone out here to fix things on Monday or Tuesday, or will we be forced to take multiple days off of work? Close off the water to our sink/kitchen to keep from flooding, which we can only do after we call a friend who has somewhat of an idea of how to do this. See again, we are not plumbers, which is why we paid for the professional installation. So here we are, having paid no small amount of money for new appliances promised to be delivered and installed by January 14th. We have half of our order, however, we cannot even use that half that we do have! Home Depot employees have been helpful, but the companies you contract out to delivery and install are lacking and I am very upset. My husband and I wasted an entire Saturday at home waiting for appliances that either did not arrive or were installed incorrectly. I don't know how you can have a delivery company in New England that is incapable of driving up hills, and even tries to push responsibility on your customers by implying they need to get a truck. I don't like to complain, but I feel very disillusioned by Home Depot at this point and thought you should know you have extremely disappointed customers. I have sent PMs through facebook, where I was told to email the social media team my info. I did that on Monday morning. No response. I asked on facebook when I would be acknowledge, no response. TL;DR - DO NOT purchase anything for delivery from Home Depot if you have an incline on your driveway. They will refuse to deliver. Do not pay money for these "professionals" to install dishwashers. I've shopped at this Home Depot for years and I recently was there shopping for spray paint and some electrical supplies. While I was searching for the stuff I needed I was asked multiple times If I needed help and I said that Was all set but when I was in the painting Isle some sales associate lady stopped me and said very rudely "I've seen you wondering in multiple Isles do you need help?" and I'm just Sitting there like REALLY!!! if I need help I'll ask for it!!!! If I'm that stupid why would I be looking for electrical and paint supplies???? I also find a some of the employees at this particular Home Depot to be very Rude and sneaky. I feel like I am being profiled. it just gets really annoying after a while being asked the same question and then being questioned in a very Pompous attitude and having the isles I've been in listed to me in a rude manner. then goes to some other guy that I guess works their too and says quietly to him "I guess They are shopping for business supplies " which was not even accurate at all. I will definitely look for another home improvement store to shop at from now on. I'm not impressed at all. I went back their a few days later to see if there was any improvement with the Staff there and believe it or not it got worse!!! I was told not to shop there anymore because I was going there too much when certain people are there. what they don't realize is I'm just looking for prices for a project I have planed and to buy supplies I need around the house. So my wife and I went to the North Windham store in Valentines Day, 2022 to purchase a vanity for one of our rental homes. Upon arrival, a small display in the front of the store included the vanity we felt would work well yet there were none in that location of the store in boxes. We walked to the rear, where bathroom products are kept to pick one up. Upon arrival to the correct aisle we encountered gates blocking us and a forklift retrieving items from the overhead of the shelves. After waiting several minutes the driver told us she was in training and the aisle would remain blocked. The man that was watching and supervising her said nothing the entire time. Content with letting us waste our time and not at all concerned with making a sale nor helping customers. This was in the middle of the day in a weekend. Peak sale time for this location. No one asked what we needed nor made an offer to assist us and they seemed adamant that they would continue. So, as a landlord and property owner in need of product we went to Lowes in Dayville for our purchase. Ever since new management has taken over this Home Depot location it has been horribly staffed, inconsistent, attempted to prevent pro parking, rearranged where carts located and the store has been a mess. Once again a time wasting experience. I didn't mind waiting 20 minutes for someone to cut the flooring mat because they don't cross train their employees. I don't mind that when they cut the keys they didn't match. But when my veteran father whose own father was a POW in Japan and who is working 100 a week hours during tax season sends me on an errand with his military ID and they won't honor it EVEN THOUGH I had him record a video explaining why he couldn't come. That seems pretty low to me. Why bother having the military discount. Guess I interrupted her personal business so she wouldn't wait on me. The only other register open was at the other end of the store and I have difficulty walking. This Home Depot isn't really different from any other Home Depot out there, but I'm giving them 4 stars for their thoughtful customer service alone. My first and only time shopping there was on Black Friday, and of all shopping days of the year, they decided to provide complimentary coffee, hot chocolate, and Dunkin' Donuts to everyone who walked through the door. Any other retailer would have (cynically) prepared for the worst. Just goes to show that even the slightest thought for the customer makes the biggest difference. read more

Not so much a review of the store as a review of an experience I had there this week. Being that it's late February in New England, wood pellet fuel is in short supply. On a whim I called the store to find out if they had any. I spoke to a guy in lawn and garden who I couldn't tell if he was saying they got some that day or that they would be getting some that day (his accent was tough). I called back a few minutes later and hit 0. I asked the guy who answered the phone, Mike, if the rental truck was in. He said he'd check and put me on hold and, I assume, got distracted and forgot about me. I hung up and called back after 7 or 8 minutes on hold and Mike answered again. He apologized profusely, checked on the truck (it was there) and verified that they had 10 or 12 pallets of pellets left and they were selling fast. I asked if they would likely have any left in 1/2 an hour and he said "probably". I showed up at the store and went straight for the service counter hoping that A: nobody had beat me to the truck, and B: the pellets hadn't sold out. The woman there asked if I had called and I said yes. She asked my last name (to see if it had matched the caller ID) and I gave it. She then told me that Mike (the assistant manager apparently) had them load a pallet onto the truck already and had it pulled to the front of the store warming up for me. So I'm giving the team here 5 stars because they goofed up and forgot me on hold, but then totally made up for it by pre-loading the truck and even securing the load of pellets for me. I was able to just hop in and drive off rather than waiting for a fork driver to load the truck and having to secure the load myself. Since all that time would have been on the clock, they also saved me from having to pay for any extra time. read more

I needed screws for my TV stand so I called the manufacturer to figure out the exact screw I needed. Then I went over to this store to grab them. Whole process took me less than a few minutes from the time I entered to the time I was walking out with the right screws. The staff were really friendly and answered all my questions while even teaching me something I didn't know about screws. I'll definitely be coming back to buy paint soon. Went to purchase a light bulb for a ceiling fan, which I could not find our local Lowes. We thought we found the right one, but when an employee near by heard our uncertainty, he jumped right in to help. We needed a bulb that dimmed and the one we picked out was not compatible. This store is kind of hit or miss but I frequently get stuck going here because there's not much else in the area. I'll start in the lumber department...pick and choose your pieces wisely, many are warped, damaged, and unusable if you intend to make something straight. I have come to this store several times for advertised items, which are supposed to be in stock according to their website, and can never be located. One year I ordered a pellet stove and three months later they still couldn't find it or offer me a replacement. Finally when it got cold they located a stove at another store for me to pick up. This is the type of store where the left hand has no idea what the right hand is doing. It's sad but many of the employees just had no clue where an item could be but they were kind enough not to send you on the wild goose chase alone, they'd go with you to look for stuff. So if you're like me you will probably get stuck going here anyway, because let's face it...where else nearby the area can you pick up an appliance, mulch, and electrical components in the same store? read more

A very nice associate sold us a washing machine with candid comments on what was positive and what was less positive. The price was a bit higher than elsewhere, but I was willing because I live locally and wanted the convenience of easy communication. What a mess. The delivery service is subcontracted and the communication was awful. Not easy to find a human on the telephone. They checked the delivery day repeatedly, with a window for the delivery time, including a double check the day before the scheduled delivery. I started calling at noon at the end of the delivery window and was told the crew was running late but we were next up. I called again an hour and a half later and was told it would be a bit longer. I called again at 5 and was told there had been no earlier calls logged and because we had changed our address (?), we were not on the delivery schedule at all. I canceled the order. I went to Keith's Appliances in Norwich, bought the machine I wanted and had it installed as scheduled, with the old machine taken away, and all for about $100 less than the original arrangement with HD. Delivered on the scheduled day, with a call the day before and again about 15 minutes before the team arrived. read more

The Home Depot in North Windham has consistently satisfied us as customers...the associates are MORE THAN HELPFUL. We had purchased a shed- had trouble putting together- they sent a crew at no additional cost to us to put together. We also purchased a pergola- we had trouble figuring out how to put it together. Two employees came ON THEIR DAY OFF to put this together for us, in the pouring rain...they did not charge us for this service...I am more than happy with this store and their wonderful staff! read more
