Cait actually LISTENED when I said my legs and feet hurt and that the whole right side of my body is way worse than my left side and concentrated on those areas. A lot of therapists elsewhere, too many really, ask you what's wrong and then do their same old same old thing. Was glad to find a place that actually helps you work on your pain. I went in for a 90 minute Swedish massage with Julia and she was amazing! I am two months postpartum and was in major need of relaxation and easing of my tired muscles. I can only assume thats what my LMT does in their free time bc they beat me up with the strength of several humans, turned up the heat on me, I was rolled out like a gingerbread man. I came in the place hobbling, a frozen potato I mean it- i had to be carried out on a platter with a ramekin of ketchup. Its a day later and I feel like a new person, really. Wow! I needed an emergency massage after landing in Austin for a business trip. I lucked out!! First, I must say that I am a massage connoisseur. I've tried all styles and have high standards. My massage with Lindsay at the So. Congress location was one of the best I've ever received. Hands down (pun intended). She uses a style called Ashiatsu Barefoot Massage. I've had some footwork done during other Shiatsu massages, but this was ALL feet. Such an interesting and effective way to get in there, especially in my upper back and shoulders. I love that I can manage the appointment from a touch of a button, cancel within 6 hours, reschedule, etc. It also does not ask for credit card info upfront. I've been to both locations and they are clean, cozy, and provide a relaxing vibe. My last two sessions have been with Katie at South Congress. Her hands are like magic. She spends the time upfront to sit with me and feel out what I'm looking for each session, never assuming I want the same thing. I find she is able to tailor my session to meet my exact needs. My massages are short, only 45 minutes, so finding someone who can address and deliver my wish list in a short duration is essential. The massage rooms themselves, are comfortable and zen-like with dim lighting, soft linens (warmed up if you needed for colder days), and a little area to hang clothes/purse, dish for jewelry. I can't say enough great things about Melanie! I came in a total wreck-- and left feeling like a whole person again. Her energy will immediately put you at ease, and she knows exactly where to target based on your reported needs (for example: "this part of my neck hurts!" ::targets weird muscle in my arm:: "WHY DO I FEEL THAT IN MY NECK?").
