These guys are the best. Carl and Brian came and got us loaded up super fast and were nice and professional. We had to call them last minute and the owner gave me his personal cell to be able to make things work even faster. Tldr: This company bails on you, avoid it if you have a schedule to keep. Made appointment for Saturday morning, was told the day before that my appointment showed up as an afternoon appointment around 2pm, and I should get a call 2 hrs ahead. Today I patiently waited till 1pm before I called Mantles when I didn't get the 2hr ahead phone call. It went to the answering machine 3 times, so I left a message. I tried again at 2pm, 3pm, 4pm and 6pm respectively. No one has answered the calls and no one bothered calling back. So they've completely bailed on me and I'm screwed and needs to find a new mover in 2 days time. AND THEY DONT EVEN HAVE THE COURTESY TO CALL AND SAY "WE CANT COME". BTW, I made the appoint 1 month before the move date. Avoid this company if you have a deadline to keep and value your time over....well, anything. Would give negative if I could. These are the rock stars of moving! I moved from Texas back in December and of course it was negative whatever and might as well have been snowing. We hired 3 strapping chaps to help us unload m POD (also a top notch invention if I do say so myself). They were on time, very speedy (hired them for 4 hours but the were finished in just shy of 3), very nice, and uber careful with all of my treasures. While I hate to move, these guys did a fantastic job and will be my go-to movers from here on out! read more

As Stephanie B said, these guys are awesome. Hired a couple guys to help me move my stuff this last weekend. With temps hovering around 100 degrees, they were worth every penny I paid. If you can stomach talking to Tim, the manager, the guys that come to do the work do a pretty good job. Don't expect them to be on time, it won't happen, but you can expect them to work hard, work fast and get done (they are getting paid by the hour, but they don't work like it). Unfortunately, they did break a piece off our bed and filing a claim to get it fixed was a nightmare. It took them a week (and a few extremely unprofessional emails from Tim) to get the guys out to fix it. When I called to file the claim, Tim told me that sh*t happens and sh*t breaks when it gets moved. I wasn't impressed. The movers were not able to get my couch and chair into the apartment, but my dad and I were able to do it after they left. We just turned them both the other direction and they went in easily -- not sure why the professionals couldn't figure that out. We moved from southern Illinois to St. Louis and I read the other reviews about them and that's why we hired them. Like I said, Gene and Jay were great, yeah, they broke a piece off my bed, but all in all, they moved a 2-bedroom home more than 130 miles into a 2-bedroom apartment on a third floor high rise loft and did it in less than 9 hours -- including travel. I have had my fair share of writing reviews of companies and products from a consumer perspective. This review is trying to be fair, but ultimately this company is not professional at all. I confirmed a week in advance for moving services. The company sent me a confirmation email with the date and estimated time of arrival as discussed. The day of the move, they had mistaken the time of the move by saying they had "mis typed it' on their iphone. I declined their services and had to rearrange several things last minute. This company offered no assistance or apology. Folks, if you want to risk being let down by unprofessional movers and alter your arrangements last minute, then Mantle is your company. To be fair, they may be adequate movers...just have be ready to be flexible. read more

Great price, horrible service but you get what you pay for. Furniture damaged, Tim was very condescending and dismissive. They have their rating with the BBB because you are required to sign a waiver excusing them from any responsibility therefore any complaint you submit will basically be dismissed and Tim even said as much in our correspondence. I will pay double to use Two Men and a Truck any day. read more

Jeremy and Otis just moved a 450lb cast-iron tub up 2 flights of stairs; one with a very tight landing. I don't think any other moving company could have handled this job with only 2 guys. Big shout out to Otis and Jeremy! They are the best! read more

These movers were hands down the best I've ever had! They confirmed the day before, arrived right on time, did a walk through, and promptly got started. I have a 2bdrm 2 bath apartment and these guys can MOVE. I don't mean just the speed, but the way they loaded and unloaded the elevators, loaded and unloaded the truck. They knew what they were doing and were efficient as heck. My last move was HORRIBLE with just a 1 bed 1 bath taking 8hrs, this move took 5 hrs TOTAL! (the distance between apartments was the same as my prior 8hr move). They were nice and courteous, not ONE scratch on any piece of furniture, and made this move stress free. read more

Do not use these movers! They quoted us 3 hours to move our apartment and it took over 8 hours. They were lazy and were more interested in hanging out around their truck than moving our belongings. When I called the owner to tell him I wanted him to pay for their breaks, he told me they could take all the breaks they wanted and I had to pay them in cash. One of the movers was hostile and swearing about us while we were moving. The owner even called the movers to tell them we were complaining about their breaks and one of the movers confronted me about it. The situation could have gotten bad very quickly. Do yourself a favor and pay anyone else to move your stuff. We had a great experience with 2 Men and a Truck, and, even though they are more expensive, it was well worth the price. I hired this company because my neighbor had previously used them and had a GREAT experience -- so I called and was informed my move (after explaining in detail ALL OF MY BELONGINGS) would take no more then 3 hours and I would need NO MORE then 3 men. When the move date came there were ONLY TWO GOOD THINGS that happened that day: The movers arrived on time, and seemed friendly enough. When the movers arrived my girlfriend and I were not fully packed so as the movers took our boxes we had packed, we finished packing everything into boxes and then took our clothing to our cars. It took the movers 3.5 hours to move a ONE BEDROOM/ONE BATHROOM apartment which HAS AN ELEVATOR. Ridiculous. It started getting REALLY BAD when the movers (who seemed nice enough) started telling me they were thrilled my move was taking so long because they hadn't gotten much work lately and needed the money. Not only is this COMPLETELY INAPPROPRIATE (even as a joke) it makes me feel as if you're slacking to take MY HARD EARNED MONEY! When the move finally came to my new home it took about 1.5 hours to unpack. I appreciated that the movers took the headboard off my bed and put it back together. But, that was the only thing to say thank you about. I started looking over my pieces of furniture and noticed some things were broken, scratched, chipped. But, I didn't say anything to the movers and decided I would call the owner Monday. I asked one of the mover's what the company price was to move and he told me $75 dollars an hour. That seemed strange considering I was told it would be $300 for three hours but, whatever. So - when they were finally finished (after FIVE HOURS) the "main mover" (I won't say his name, but it starts with a "K") told me my total was $500.00. That was another weird thing to me. So as I was computing how this could possibly be the price -- "K" then said "And the tip is mandatory today". Now, while I understand this was meant to be joking -- it is AGAINST THE LAW. Soliciting a tip is equivalent to stealing something worth $500. Not cool. The worst part about coming to me and asking for this money was they are two very large men. I am a small woman. While I didn't think they were going to hurt me -- it is intimidating. It is my fault I didn't do more research about what to tip movers, but I was trying to be generous so the day before I took out $150 in cash to tip the movers with and put it in a special place in my wallet. When I went to get that money -- it was gone. I cannot say for sure that one of the mover's STOLE FROM ME, but nobody else went into my apartment or had access to my wallet. After all the money had been paid I was NOT GIVEN A RECEIPT! Thank goodness I had gone to the ATM and taken out extra cash so I could tip. I handed "K" $100 (in 20's) and said is this enough and he told me "most people tip a little more" so I eded up giving them $140 dollars. "K" then said I guess that is all right. Wow. Way to be grateful. I was SO UPSET about my move that I called the owner on Monday and told him the story. The first time I spoke to him he was very apologetic and wanted to make it right. He actually begged me NOT to write a review on here and said we could figure something out. I told him I didn't want a free move (since I won't be moving anytime soon) and wanted him to talk to the movers and I would think about it. When we talked next he told me that "It was my mistake" "It was MY misunderstanding" "They were just joking" I was appalled. Here I am a customer telling him my concerns and he has ZERO sympathy. He also told me that my total was $450 dollars. This was very confusing to me considering I had heard WAY TOO MANY DIFFERENT STORIES ABOUT WHAT I SHOULD HAVE PAID! I was pretty upset with his unwillingness to work with me so I had my girlfriend call and he was rude, and unapologetic to her as well. We decided to wait some time hoping he would think it through and see that in business -- "The customer is always right". THAT IS NOT HIS MOTTO. I JUST got off the phone with him. I called and told him that I think I deserved $240 back to me for my tip and for the move discrepancies or that I would write about my experience on Angie's List. My thinking was this: if you just did what I wanted I wouldn't write an awful review, but I would just not say anything or recommend you. But, if you can't even try and make this right at all: people deserve to know. So, after telling him this he told me "I couldn't bribe him." I was lying about "K" telling me my move was $500. I should have been smarter about my tip money and it was my fault. All in all DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY! They will take WAY TOO LONG, "UPCHARGE YOU," break your things, and then do absolutely nothing to make it right. I am so completely disgusted with the owner, I ended up hanging up on him because he was so insulting. I am STILL upset about this matter. read more

The end results were an absolute disaster. During the move, 7 out of 10 pieces of bedroom furniture were damaged by movers. We offered the mover the opportunity to rectify/correct the damage but these efforts were ineffective and unsatisfactory. After the conclusion of this, we informed Mantle's of this situation, offering to either accept a full refund or the claim owed by insurance. Information was provided for insurance claim to be processed. To date, neither a refund has been provided or information regarding the insurance settlement. I would not recommend this contractor to anyone. The end results border on negligence (how can you damage 7 of 10 pieces if the work is executed correctly) and the lack of responsiveness and rectification is unacceptable. Should you decide to hire a contractor to help with you next move, I suggest you do not hire Mantle's Moving. read more

Mantle movers was the WORST moving company i have ever used, Tim under estimated the job so it ended up costing me $240 more than i was quoted, and I ended up moving half my stuff myself because the movers had another move to do after mine. When we started un packing i had more stuff broken on this one move than I had broken in all my other moves combined. The movers completely destroyed 4 of my book shelfs. Needless to say , i would recommend the 3 stooges before i would ever recommend this moving company, they were absolutely HORRIBLE !! read more

I used this company last year to move my mother. While I wasn't happy with the fact that the movers and I left her house at the same time and they arrived 40 minutes after me to her new residence, everything else went well and I decided to use them again. I moved 3 miles away. I made the arrangements online and on the phone. I have the confirmation email, stating arrival time was a 11 am. I advised Mr Mantle that I had to be out of my house by 2 pm and he assured me that would be fine. At 11:45 I called to see where they were and was told I didn't answer my phone the day before to confirm. I never received a call and told him so. His reply was "You should have called me then". I had already confirmed via email!! After several more calls, they arrived at 3:15 - more than an hour after I was to be out of my house. They banged up walls and broke a leg on my dining room sideboard. It got dark and I was told they could no longer continue the move and would have to finish the next day. After a not pleasant conversation with the owner, where I advised him I no longer owned the house and the new owners were standing over me complaining of the damage and demanding that everything be out, he sent another truck and additional men to load the truck, but still didn't deliver the goods until the next day. When advising them of the damage done, all he did was send me a blank copy of the lien waiver, which, in fact, I didn't sign. I will never do business with them again and will discourage anyone else from doing so. read more
