This store sells many nice things for the home that you can buy on the spot, but the store is also the base for people who want to get a professional to help decorate their homes Yates & Kennedy occupies about 500 square feet on Commercial St, and owner Mitch Yates has created areas throughout the shop that teem with personality. The shop, which has been around for over 10 years is chock-a-block full. Antelope horns lean against agate bookends, watermark pillows rest next to small oil paintings, and claw-foot candlesticks, magnifying glasses and a jewel-encrusted crown share table space. A variety of vintage wallpaper serves as backdrops to the diverse assortment. Yates has even created a space for a great assortment of espadrilles and hand screened T-shirts by his best friend, John Kennedy. The shop, like a room with character, is spirited and charming. When you visit, plan to spend some time there; you never know what you'll uncover.

Ultimately I was thrilled that I stepped foot in Yates & Kennedy and I will think of that store fondly each time I gaze upon my gorgeous pillow while at home. We walked in around lunchtime and we noticed a lot of sales signs all over...but we definitely noticed the line of people waiting to pay...it was about 20 people deep ! The sales for off season are really good and you can get a great deal on clothing. My husband was looking for a Provincetown sweatshirt and all of the ones on sale were Cape Cod ones...lots of colors, lots of styles.... The story of these stores started in 1980. Cuffy purchased 300 misprint t-shirts for $1.00 and sold them for $2.00 right after college. That was the start of a successful casual clothing line of stores.

The other viewpoint was the guy behind the counter, he had the longest face and he did not look welcoming nor friendly at all. That put me off with his attitude and demeanor. I stepped out and looked elsewhere. I am a sucker for nice friendly people with a strong focus on customer service.

Belts bags and…read more buckles Despite the inherent humor in it's name, this is actually an interesting and quality leather shop. Of course being in the diverse and occasionally profligate confines of Provincetown, the cool sign gets a bit of attention. The inside of the store is small and cramped but packed with all sorts of leather things. Zillions of belts, bags and some very nice jackets. If it's busy you have to squeeze through the narrow aisles but everyone is friendly and patient and the fellows working there are very willing to assist and show you anything you want to see. Some of the items are quite expensive and extremely nice while other stuff is for the more modest budget. A friend of mine was looking for a new motorcycle jacket and since she is rather petite had to try on quite a few before she found the perfect one. The staff never rushed or became frustrated with her and recommended one after another. I needed a new belt since I discovered leather doesn't like salt water and I found several that should last me a while. Even though it was busy and we both hate shopping we had a great time in that diminutive store. A cool place to check out if you don't object to leather, this place is vintage P-town. Different, eccentric but like most of P-town, never loses it's sense of humor.

When I got on the ferry that night, there was no bracelet in the bag with the belt. I called the store to try and work something out - I'd pay for the shipping if they would send me the bracelet. The woman on the phone just continuously disagreed that it could have been their fault. Very disappointed that they wouldn't work with me - I had the receipt and it's a bit of a stretch that I was trying to milk them out of a 2nd ~$30 bracelet. So much for shopping local. While I like the belt - I will spend my money elsewhere and recommend all my friends to do the same when visiting Provincetown. Other stores and restaurants were excellent!!!
