This park is also great for hiking. There's a great trail through the woods. Beautiful flowers with a large field and unique trees to walk or bike through. Overall, clean and fun park for a nature escape or game of disc golf. Last note, dogs are welcome as lone as they're on a leash. So great outdoor escape for all people and their furry friend!

We parked in the lot off of Plainfield/Naperville Rd on the west side of the street. The parking spots were spacious. There is limited parking but it was not full and had plenty of spots. There was a handicap port a potty, which had no toilet paper and stinky. But if you got to go you got to go. There is also a small area with picnic benches under a pavilion. We wanted to do about 5k walk, so we went south on the path and there is an underground tunnel that connects to the Sunflower trail. We went to the Sunflower trail first, which connects to Henslow's trail. Lots of trees and shrubs. The Henslow's trail is grass and dirt path. Close to the end it goes downhill back to the tunnel. There are wooden posts with the trail name with arrows pointing the direction of the trail at the intersections. Will have to try the Sprinkbrook Prairie Trail that is 5.5 miles. Note, Be sure to check for ticks, I did end up taking some home and found them on my clothes.

Such a delightful place that is well maintained and equipped to help friends and families make happy memories. The property is vast for a "way-out-there" feel, as opposed to nearby Herrick Lake which has the outdoor party ambiance.

What interested me about Brookfield Woods compared to the other trailheads nearby is that it is the mile marker starting point for the Salt Creek Trail System. As for my visit, I entered off 31st St which has a Brookfield Woods labeled sign at the entrance; and the first feature that immediately caught my eye was its one and only picnic shelter which sat off to the right side of the parking lot. I also could not help but notice the many recreational bike riders prior to exiting my vehicle. As an outdoor fitness enthusiast who has been running for years, I would categorize the difficulty level as easy because the terrain is flat! I encountered mostly walkers, a few joggers, and many recreational bike riders along this path. While on it I felt that peaceful sense of being in nature as I heard birds chirping, the wind blowing, and the sound of the flowing salt creek which was off to my left while going out. I even got glimpses of chipmunk and squirrel running across my path; some even startling me at times when close by which also kept me in the moment. On my turnaround headed back to Brookfield Woods, I encountered a Canadian goose which I am absolutely terrified of! I am even known to alter my run routes just to avoid them out of fear of being attacked! It hissed at me as I went around it; it is like it instantly got its little goose panties in a bunch. I swear my heart rate increased as I eased by it because the last thing I wanted to experience was getting my ass kicked by a Canadian goose. That is a losing situation that I am unsure how I will bounce back from, but bye bye goose! I spent a little over forty-minutes during my hike on the path but could have easily gone longer if I were running instead. There are a variety of activities you can conduct on the Salt Creek Trail System path which extends 7.1 miles out; some of those activities I can certainly see are hiking, running, walking, biking, or even in-line skating. Brookfield Woods space can be used to conduct a large gathering; and its large field is acceptable for some recreational activities you can engage in. A well-maintained area, consisting of that one picnic shelter; and even a portable restroom right by the starting point of the path. There are also waste and recycling bins within space with one located at the start of the path, and another near the picnic shelter. And on top of it all, it has an acceptable amount of parking spots available. Other than my encounter with the Canadian goose, I had a pleasant experience at Brookfield Woods as indicated in this review and would return. As a runner, I can see myself returning just to explore more of the Salt Creek Trail System. ~An adventure a day keeps the doctor away. ~ Thomas G

My visit here was to check out the frisbee golf course and I was pleasantly surprised at a few features. First, there is quite a bit of elevation changes across this course, which make it more fun and challenging than some of the other nearby courses. Second, the views in the park are beautiful, particularly at sunset. Third, the course takes you on a wide variety of different nature and shooting situations. Fourth, you don't really run the danger of throwing your disc into water, holes, or other unrecoverable situations. It was not too busy here when I visited and parking was plentiful. I would gladly visit this park again for some more disc golf in the future.

This is a delightful park, with a small pollinator garden recently put in (on Greenfield). The pond…read moreis a pretty good-sized one, edged with pretty natural (tall) wildflowers (milkweed, etc.); I envy the kids in the adjoining school with their water view. Lots of water lily pads. When I walked around today I saw a duck and what I think was a crane. And apparently I didn't even see half of the park as I didn't walk as far as the playground or paths shown in other's photos. Lots of benches scattered throughout for folks who'd like to stop and maybe just enjoy for a while.
