A couple of warnings: you are staying in a house that was built over a hundred years ago. All things considered, it's in great shape, but as of now, the exterior drastically needs a paint job. The Victorian nature of the house makes it look a little like the Psycho house. Don't give up, just go inside! However, once you are inside, you are in heaven. Karen is the nicest person you could imagine hosting a B&B. She was very excited to be sold out for a special event at the Star Trek tour. The place looks great inside (see my photos). We stayed in the Rose Room. The room was huge, with a very good bed. The bathroom is large as well. We loved everything about it, except for two small things. The jacuzzi tub does not have a shower. I did not notice this when reserving the room. Of course, a bath is fine. The only other complaint I have is that the wifi did not work in our room. It's a very big house, so I was not completely surprised. Our cell phones worked fine (Verizon). Wifi worked fine in the living room, which is also a very comfortable area. There is a flat-screen TV with Hulu in the living area (which happens to have the Star Trek episodes...). There are very large lawn areas outside the house, which would be perfect for events like wedding. I saved the best for last. The breakfasts are amazing. All home-made. In four days I put on three pounds! With my wife being vegan, we are used to getting no choice for breakfast, but she gave multiple vegan options every day we were there. KAren is really sweet and tries very hard to make everyone happy!

Kevin and Scott have done an incredible job since taking over the Inn. It is just what you would hope for as far as ambiance, it is spotlessly clean, very comfortable everything in our room worked, not an easy thing in 200+ year old building. Thoughtful things like an open outlet at each night stand for charging electronics, plenty of room for putting your things away. Breakfast was great and we enjoyed the pub/bar that is open for guests from 5-8pm. Very warm friendly atmosphere, we thoroughly enjoyed it!

They are gracious hosts--providing hospitality in a thoughtful and charming way. They are knowledgeable about the local area (and many other topics), AND they cook a gorgeous, locally-sourced breakfast. They even made special egg-free dishes and cookies for me. What a treat! The Cornwall Orchards grounds are well-worth exploring especially if you like gardening, ecology, and permaculture practices. The house itself brims over with history and books--it's delightful. I could really feel the care that went into making this place a special retreat. Thank you both so much for going above and beyond for us. Our trip to explore the Middlebury area wouldn't have been nearly as well-rounded and insightful if it weren't for you. This B&B has been reviewed very favorably on trip advisor and therefore we decided to stay here…read more however we were not impressed given the 250 per night price tag. breakfast one morning was meaty so my vegetarian husband couldnt even partake. the room we stayed in (one of the biggest) was dated. the magazines were from 2005. the fireplace was a nice perk but the innkeepers ask that we have them show us how to use it...but during the day (after bfast) they are nowhere to be found. the robes smelled like an attic. toiletries were samples of shampoo/conditioner that you get in magazines. it may be small things but for 250/night in a small sleepy town, i expect nicer amenities, even during the high summer season. walls are thin but this is maybe a problem in most B&Bs. the innkeepers are trying to sell the place, i learned, so maybe their passion is just not there anymore. also it is not right on the water. the views were pretty tho - faces the lake/mountains. i would not recommend to others. i think i would have given it 4 stars if the price fit the lodging. on another note, hague is beautiful. very different vibe from bolton landing and lake george village.
