A couple of warnings: you are staying in a house that was built over a hundred years ago. All things considered, it's in great shape, but as of now, the exterior drastically needs a paint job. The Victorian nature of the house makes it look a little like the Psycho house. Don't give up, just go inside! However, once you are inside, you are in heaven. Karen is the nicest person you could imagine hosting a B&B. She was very excited to be sold out for a special event at the Star Trek tour. The place looks great inside (see my photos). We stayed in the Rose Room. The room was huge, with a very good bed. The bathroom is large as well. We loved everything about it, except for two small things. The jacuzzi tub does not have a shower. I did not notice this when reserving the room. Of course, a bath is fine. The only other complaint I have is that the wifi did not work in our room. It's a very big house, so I was not completely surprised. Our cell phones worked fine (Verizon). Wifi worked fine in the living room, which is also a very comfortable area. There is a flat-screen TV with Hulu in the living area (which happens to have the Star Trek episodes...). There are very large lawn areas outside the house, which would be perfect for events like wedding. I saved the best for last. The breakfasts are amazing. All home-made. In four days I put on three pounds! With my wife being vegan, we are used to getting no choice for breakfast, but she gave multiple vegan options every day we were there. KAren is really sweet and tries very hard to make everyone happy!

Her Victorian Home is amazing and the bedroom was totally spectacular. Then the breakfast. We had fresh fruit. Coffee and Juice. Bacon to die for and a pastry with cream cheese and roasted sliced peaches. It was divine. Way to go Karen. If I'm ever in your area again, I will definitely make a reservation to stay there.

The residences were constructed in the 1860s by the nearby Whitehall, New York-based architect A.C. Hopson, and are examples of the highest Italianate style that was fashionable at the time. A creamy white marble with a slight hint of green, all from the quarries in Rutland, 15 miles to the east, is the source of their characteristic radiance. The Rutland and Whitehall Railroad was used to transport unfinished slabs to the city, where they were hewn into blocks, then shipped to market. But stone magnates Joseph Adams and Ira Allen made a point of selling most of it while also saving some to use in their own creations. There is no cost to view the buildings, one of which is apartments and the other is this one, the Marble Mansion Inn. Just remember that it's private property and be respectful. Breakfast was a delightful bounty of homemade deliciousness. One morning we were served maple bacon (bacon brittle), company eggs and scones. Everything was perfect! Other breakfast offerings included; fruit, yogurt, bagels, fruit spreads, juice, coffee and a large assortment of teas. I'll let our photos tell the rest of the review.

Definitely not because if you find yourself in the sweet little town of Granville, NY, you're in for a treat: Mickey and Wayne have put their heart and soul into renovating the old Granville train station into a stunning bed and breakfast, the Station House B&B. When we arrived late in the evening to check in, Mickey was there to greet us and make us feel at home. And her kindness and grace poured over into every detail: from the historic photos, to the antique tables and chairs, to the timely holiday decorations, to the abundance of mugs and tea, which were always available. For which I say thank you! Because we were traveling in a party of 8, we occupied 4 of the 5 rooms, which was fantastic because that afforded us the opportunity to glimpse each cozy space. Three of the rooms have their own bathroom, but two have a shared bathroom. For us, it was no problem since we were all family. This one minor detail is something to consider when selecting your room. Each space is unique, from the name to the decor. Every detail is thoughtfully selected and creates a welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel like you're coming home each night. Although the walls were a bit thin in our room, the Ticket Office, James F and I slept like rocks, we were so comfy! But it doesn't end there. Gotta get to the breakfast part, of course! Coffee was always ready at 7AM and breakfast at 8AM each morning. Well, oftentimes breakfast was waiting for us well past 8AM because some of our group are late risers. And my god, the breakfast spread presented each morning was fantastic: tea, coffee, orange juice, pancakes, french toast, bacon, ham, pastries, yogurt, pudding, it goes on! Basically, everything to keep our bellies happy and ready for the long days ahead. Truly, what hospitality! To Mickey and Wayne: thank you for creating such a friendly and beautiful B&B! As I sit and type this back in Denver, I'm longing for that wonderful breakfast spread! It was truly a pleasure to stay at the Station House B&B.

They were great to chat with and just good down to earth people. We stated in the Freight Office. What a lovely spacious room and the bathroom was massive. Our beds were comfortable and the room temp was perfect. Ok, let's talk about the breakfast! WOW! It was more impressive than most 4-5 star hotels I've stayed at. There was a wide variety of food and everything was made to perfection. I honestly felt like when I used to go to my grandmas house...lots and lots of home cooked goodness! We totally can't wait to come back again. Love the place and owners!
