We eat gluten free and we're always happy when we can find gluten-free pancakes and this place had some of our favorite ones. I was dropping my son off for college so I won't get to go for some time. But my son will! We got Sugar & Spice pancakes and they were delicious. We loved them so much we went back the next day and I got Maple Walnut which were just as delicious. I can't wait to go back next time I visit. The staff were so friendly. It's one of those places that you know if you live nearby they will become like family. read more

Wonderful customer service & yummy pancakes - win/win! We came here for brunch on a Saturday while visiting Vermont. The man in the front who greeted us (I believe he's the owner) was so friendly and gave us great recommendations. We couldn't decide on which pancakes we wanted since they all sounded good but he let my friend and I order a stack of 4 pancakes, each one with a different flavor! I've never been able to do that before. We ordered the sugar & spice, maple walnut, blueberry, and chocolate chip. It came with real maple syrup, which was SO good. We loved the blueberry and sugar and spice the best. My friend is also gluten free/has celiac and they had gluten free pancakes available! She absolutely loved them and was a big fan of the sugar and spice pancake too. They have a store that sells keychains, real maple syrup, maple candy, and more! My wife and I checked out Maple Sugar and Vermont Spice during a weekend getaway. We showed up at peak brunch time and were greeted by a substantial wait. Thankfully we were relaxed and the area is beautiful. The gentleman who owns the place was very nice and they moved the customers efficiently. My friend recommended this restaurant, he absolutely raved about it. They were certainly crowded. We waited a pretty substantial amount of time after ordering but the restaurant was quaint and the staff was pleasant. The food was awesome! Well worth the the wait. I had a "hungry man" style breakfast. It included pancakes (I upgraded to the pumpkin pancakes), sausage, bacon, eggs, toast, and home fries. Each was cooked perfectly. The maple syrup was excellent with the pancakes. My wife really enjoyed her omelette. Portions were good. I would certainly return. read more

Very large restaurant with counter seating, tables and more space upstairs. The basement has a small shop where you can buy Vermont maple syrup and other small goods. I walked in on a weekend morning in November for breakfast and did not have to wait to be seated. Classic diner style food, tasted very homey and was delicious. Finished work for the day and just past lunch time. I was heading to a different restaurant but saw this one on the way. Now there's no shortage of restaurants in Killington but finding one open is the challenge. Well Sugar & Spice is open and looks inviting. Light lunch crowd so no issue with seating. I have the best waitress but in fortunately I didn't get her name. Turns out the close at 2 PM, but I got in under the wire and absolutely no pressure to eat and leave. I order a bacon cheeseburger which came with home fries and pickles. My waitress brought extra pickles. Yeah So the burger was great. Cooked perfectly, home fries for lunch? Interesting but worked well. They also sell all kinds of gift items and remember this is Vermont so Maple Syrup is oozing everywhere including at Sugar & Spice. Wow, what a fun little tourist trap restaurant. I felt like I was in Cracker Barrel, Vermont version. You want a 1000 piece maple syrup-related puzzle? This place has got them. What about every article of clothing that has the VT state on it? MSVS don't mess around! The food here is really good, like what all of the other reviews say. I ordered the Reuben and it was just a greasy good mess. We also ordered a short stack, because that's what you do when you're here. And yes, the maple syrup (real maple syrup) really is delicious! The pancakes here are so good! I love that they have a store inside too and I made sure to get my maple syrup here. Service was surprisingly fast too, given that it was fairly full, so maybe it's better to browse the store after eating in case your food gets ready while you're still browsing. Warm, country decor with basement floor as country store stocked with VT goods, you can't not help but fall in love with this place. We've been here multiple times and it never disappoint. They don't take reservation unless you have party 8; or more; but the kitchen runs efficiently and food comes out quickly so the wait usually is not bad. This is a must if you're in the area! What a true authentic Vermont experience with delicious real maple syrup and great hospitality. From the hostess to our waitress to the owner, everyone was truly kind and sincere! We tried a few different things on the menu, pancakes, pumpkin pancakes, sugar and spice pancakes, home fries, bacon and Canadian bacon. Everything was very much enjoyed. Our waitress gave us great suggestions and you I literally felt I was at Burger King - where I could have it my way, and I loved that. Came here on a Sunday at 12pm for 7 people - it was packed! Over an hour wait, so we enjoyed the store/fresh maple syrup being made in the basement. They had tastings of the maple syrup, maple cookies and maple popcorn - all things you can buy downstairs or at the checkout on the main floor. They also have hoodies, socks, Vermont mugs, and other Vermont tourist items for purchase. Grab your items and pay at the main floor up stairs. We were seated on the third floor, right under the roof of the gorgeous cabin! Love the decor, pails as lights, snowshoes on the walls, newspaper clippings, etc. You can order from the main menu or their daily specials. The menu has both breakfast and lunch items and they tend to be on the sweeter side. Love that the menu has history of the sugar house! I got the hot chocolate for $2 - it comes with a mug full of whipped cream and a teapot full of delicious hot cocoa, at least 2 servings! Highly recommend for adults & kids! Prices are extremely reasonable, all under $10. When you order, make sure you ask which type of syrup they're serving with breakfast - but whichever type, it will be delicious! I ordered the "pigs in a blanket" ($8.95) - Vermont pork sausages wrapped in pancakes, plus hashbrowns. Whenever I go to killington I stop here for a breakfast. It's faster for carry out but it's definitely busy. The food is definitely delicious, especially the pancakes. They have a separate shop that sells maple syrup and other maple related items. One of my favorite items (since I don't like too much sugar) is the mustard they sell. I highly recommend the Vermont maple horseradish mustard. I wish I got more, but it's amazing and I get a lot of compliments on it when I bring it out with cheese and crackers. read more

I love breakfast. I especially love Vermont breakfasts and have fond memories of a place near Okemo mountain. We came here for breakfast one day, and the next day when I was looking for a place for lunch, I said "you know, that breakfast place is open until 2..." and the kids eyes lit up. Nice people, great food, very reasonably priced. This will now be our first stop when we come to Killington, and the last stop when we leave. read more

Ok. Finally, they had o put in a disclaimer on their website about the issue with the containers utilized for packing their syrup. I am guessing that more than one person complained about this issue, and I am glad! It's unacceptable that they advertise something and then you'd received something totally unmarked... kind of like ordering something directly from NIKE and instead receiving a pair of MIKES from "WISH" or "TEMU". Good way to cover their butt! Still, unacceptable that they are mailing out syrup in containers that are not marked "100% Vermont Product", and who knows where it is actually coming from. Best bet is to purchase the product at the store during opening weekend where they are actually boiling the sap in the lower section of the restaurant, because online, it could come from anywhere, since it is not 100% guaranteed being from Vermont. Hard to believe that, in over one year, they are still having trouble finding plastic containers with the Sugar And Spice markings. Sounds like BS to me so they can keep mailing out fake Vermont syrup and sell the real stuff at the store for the mountain tourists. read more

No stars. We had a family celebration this morning for my daughters birthday. The food was absolutely terrible and a hair was found. We were chastised for not bringing it to their attention immediately. The lady, I assume the owner, was downright derespectful and rude to my family. We are Vermonters and had been there over the years on and off and always been served delicious food and excellent service. Apparently the owners are stretching themselves thin with the acquiring of a new downtown Rutland restaurant. I understand it was busy. I Do not understand the lack of respect we received. We will no longer be going to any establishment under their ownership from now on and will be telling people why whenever asked. read more

Yum! This place knows breakfast. Everything you might think about a perfect New England breakfast was here. The location is not only a great diner/restaurant, but also a gift shop with everything maple (candy, spices, syrup, etc!) My friends and I got quite the assortment of dishes because everything sounded delicious. The sausage biscuits and gravy was an excellent and filling dish. My friends also enjoyed their breakfast sandwiches with eggs, apple and cheddar cheese. We couldn't help but try the pancakes to share and they were amazing, especially topped with real maple syrup. The service was excellent and efficient. We also needed to put our name in for a short wait, though we only waited for about 10 minutes which wasn't bad at all.
