I can't say enough great things about the SAP Center and the San Jose Sharks experience. Every time I come here, it's consistently top tier. The lounge area really stands out. It is always clean, well kept, and comfortable. The bathroom lines are short even during busy times and the bathrooms themselves are very clean. That alone makes a big difference during games. The food in the lounge is also excellent. The hand carved pastrami is fantastic and something I look forward to every visit. Huge shoutout to Patrick Lockwood who is an incredible Sharks365 rep. He goes above and beyond every time, is always responsive, and makes sure all of your questions are answered. You can tell he genuinely cares about creating a great experience. Also want to recognize Nick in Section 114. He is always kind, welcoming, and brings great energy to the game. He does an awesome job getting fans hyped and makes the section even more fun. Do you know your way to San Jose? Yeah, it's bigger than you think, one can get lost in SJ...good lawd! Well, I'm glad I just come for the Sharks games these days, ever since the stadium was called HP (before that it was Compaq) - good times! When I was a kid, mom used to drive me down to SJ for the flea market, or visit family/friends, and I hated coming. It was always hotter than SF. Sharks games are much better and way more fun than the flea market. I promised my kids I will never take them to the flea market HA. If you're lucky enough to score tixx to club level seats, that's the way to go. I think my son is spoiled now from all the action being up close, he'll never look at nosebleed seats the same. The in-seat dining is convenient. The host constantly checks on you and makes sure you don't need anything else during the game and definitely comes around for last call. If you choose to checkout the gourmet dining section just walk right through the doors, show your tickets to the usher. The food served here is the same from the arena's restaurant - talk about fine dining options. The prime rib is $25, turkey sandwiches on ciabatta bread, three pizza options to choose from, etc. I have to say the BBQ chicken pizza my son ordered was delicious, way better than DiGiorno's LOL! Bottled drinks (even water) and alcohol are pricey, comes with Sharks territory. When I come here, I head straight for the carvery station, tri tip sandwiches and loaded tater tots are totally worth it. We usually have our game plan down before we get there like eat before the games, or get a hot dog afterwards from one of the street vendors, smells sooooo good! Came here in November for Hockey Fights Cancer night and it was just like the other games I've attended here......crowded, loud, fun, great fans! Oh and not to mention the Sharks. They always put on a great game whether they win or lose, it's fun watching and getting into the game with the other fans! You can get all sorts of food from nachos and hot dogs to prime rib before you enter your seats, as well as alcoholic & non-alcoholic drinks. Plenty of bathrooms, plenty of food & drink vendors and theirs also the Sharks store so if you want to buy swag you can. There's plenty of parking across the street for $25 or you can do what a lot of fans do which is park in the San Pedro parking lot and walk about a half mile or so to the SAP Center. I love this team. There is no greater team entrance than that of the Sharks. I dare you to try and prove me wrong. Playoffs are the best because they hold street rallies with freebies and each seat gets a towel, t-shirt, and wristband. Make sure you get there a little early, to make sure no one else swipes yours. The store line can be ridiculous before playoff games. Avoid it if you can. It's a bummer that they don't have the store side entrance open long before the start of a playoff game. They close it off and make you battle with 17,000 other fans in the hour between doors opening to pick drop. I would give them 5 stars if they would stop choking during the Playoffs, played better at home and kept their ticket prices reasonable. You keep losing, yet the ticket prices keep going up? It doesn't add up Sharkies. You have to be careful to avoid seat Nazis. They can be a real drag. Some people expect everyone to sit perfectly still, all the way against the seat back for the entire game. I almost got into fistacuffs with a relentless witch in section 215. If I leaned forward to get my water or turned my head too far (in her opinion), she would tap my shoulder and threaten to call security over. Thank you, Sharkie for not just being prompt to my daughter's birthday party but you made her special day even better. I remember feeling so excited when I saw your Sharkie mobile. Yes, admittedly I was excited to see you however, the glow and smile on my daughter's face was priceless. To request for Sharkie to appear at your gathering, it will depend on the schedule of the games. Sadly, we lost in round 2 against the Kings so Sharkie was able to make it to the event. Filling out the form was quite easy but it was a long process; where the event is, when the event is going to take place, directions, and a bunch of other stuff I have already forgotten but let's just say that Sharkie remembered us from the Shark Tank (now SAP) and from Stanley's Sports Bar. I don't know who Sharkie is but he certainly is personable, funny, and passionate. I loved that he was willing to participate and initiated things in 100 degrees weather. I had my BBQ at Cataldi Park in late June. You can imagine Sharkie was dying inside. We offered him food but he declined. Not sure if he is allowed to take it but I wish he would take a bite out of the Sharks Territory cake I got from Sugar High Dispensary. The table covers and decorations, even the plates was all teal and black. My daughter's birthday was complete... she not only got a Joe Pavelski jersey, a Sharkie pillow from me but the goodies you gave her during your visit as well. I recently started being into hockey. Sharks game are so much fun, the entertainment is always on point and there are nice incentives for various games: from bubbleheads to tshirts, there's something for everyone. The players are very entertaining, always throwing pucks to fans when practicing. The music is great everytime (old school rock and roll is a great way to keep you pumping) and the 'games' in the intermissions are pretty fun to watch (I'm still hoping that one day I'll have the lucky seat number). 50/50 raffle is a great idea, supporting a great cause while also having a chance to win some extra $$$. Tickets are usually at an acceptable price, unless they are all sold out and only resales are available, then you will spent a lot of $$ on cranked up tickets. SAP is very well organized, the lines outside are pretty short usually and you can get in (even with a bag) within a few minutes. The staff there is also pretty friendly and always have a smile on their face, I've always had good experience with them. In terms of parking, you can find cheaper places around the area, I would never pay $20-$25 for a few hours of parking when I can go to San Pedro or the like and pay $7. The food at SAP isnt great, so I always eat in San Pedro Square, but hey, that's not the Sharks fault. Go see them play, it's pretty fun. read more

We got our hands on some inexpensive tickets and had a great time! I loved how interactive the fans were. The audio, lights, everything was good. No one seemed to be too rowdy or noisy. Parking at the arena was $25 and the surrounding areas about $20. One thing to note is the surrounding area is a bit sketchy. While looking for street parking there were several homeless people. It is so much fun going to any sporting event, but especially the Sharks, and especially with people who've never attended a professional hockey game before, like I did with my boyfriend and his two teenage sons last night. Everyone had a killer time, especially when the Sharks won in the overtime shootout. Go Sharks!! When the NHL was on strike in the early 2000s I watched Bridgeport Soundtiger games all the time out on the East Coast where I attended college (Connecticut). I had never really watched hockey before then so when I moved back home to the Bay Area I fell in love with our local Sharks. Going to games is an easy drive from the East Bay (and only a $75 Uber from Concord). Make sure to show up on time because the beginning of the game and the Sharks players entrance is awesome. Most of the fans stick around to the end but it's usually not too much of a mess to get out of the $25 prepaid lot. (There's also a nearby parking structure that's very convenient.) Food and drinks at the games are typical. Beers run about $12 for the souvenir cup, $6 for popcorn/peanuts/ice cream and then of course they have hot food too, like hot dogs and nachos and more! I find it easier to eat ahead of time though so that you aren't in your seat distracting others from the game. (NHL is a little bit different in that they ask you not to lean forward in your seats even during game play). If you haven't been to a game, go buy some seats on the middle of the rink for the best view (around $75.00 each for upper deck), and have a great time! GO SHARKS!! read more

I honestly never thought about giving a review about a professional sports team until I saw Jillian Fisher do a video about Yelp reviews of NHL teams. Might as well put in my 2 cents in. The fact that this team hasn't won the Stanley Cup (yet) doesn't dampen my enthusiasm & love for this team. I've been a fan since Day 1 when they played at the Cow Palace. I've seen some great games, some brutal games, but the best I've ever seen was Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final game vs Pittsburgh and the first SCF game I've ever seen live. I went to my first Sharks game a few weeks ago and had the BEST time! I've never been to a hockey game before so I didn't know what to expect, but it turned out even better than I thought. We sat in the second row behind the Sharks bench and in the seats right next to the walkway to go back into their locker room. Absolutely amazing! My favorite player is Logan Couture so I got to stare at him the whole game along with Ward, Pavelski, Thorton, Wingels, Marleau, Dell, Vlasic, and all the other Sharks players. Donskoi was out so we didn't get to see him, but I got to see a lot of Peter DeBoer and the other coaches. Gotta love men in suits! Even though they didn't win (lost 0-4 to the St. Louis Blues) I still had a really great time. Their arena isn't super big, so there isn't a bad seat in the house. Also unlike other professional sports (football, baseball and basketball in particular) the tickets were reasonably priced. I definitely want to come back and see another game. The Sharks have done right by the fans from the start. When I lived locally and worked downtown I opted into a shared pair of season tickets. The venue is outstanding. Getting in and out can be a challenge if you don't plan ahead. The staff from ushers to concessions are always engaged and friendly. The organization is very engaged with the community and really goes the extra mile. I was fortunate enough to get tickets the the Stanley Cup finals last year, in their 25th year, and was there for what now stands as the only home victory in the finals. I hope that record is broken this year. I'm so glad the 2016 - 2017 hockey season has started. First W for the boys in teal last night. I can hardly wait to get out to a game soon! The Shark Tank is home away from home for me. With the exception of my actual home and work I've probably spent more time inside the HP Pavilion than in any other building. I've easily attended over 90 percent of their home games since 1996 when I became a full season ticket holder. Prior to that I had only attended games sporadically from the Cow Palace days on. That amounts to a lot of Round Table Pizza, Una Mas and Philly cheese steak sandwiches over the years. I've changed my seats on several occasions but I've finally settled in comfortably in the upper bowl and my top row seats in Section 214. Yes, with the exception of the oxygen deprivation up there the seats are the best for viewing the entire arena from end to end, and the cool fact that I can stand up without blocking anybody's view is a huge plus too. I happen to love photography, and with those many years of hockey experience from a spectator's point of view comes some very memorable out-of-the-ordinary moments. These are moments not seen very often in a typical hockey game. No great saves, no hat tricks, no winning goals, no on-ice celebrations, not even a speck of shattered glass, based on some of the moments I've captured on film and on memory card here are some of my most memorable photographic San Jose Sharks moments to date. Number 1 will always be reserved for that day in the future when a Sharks player hoists the Stanley Cup over his head. 6. I wouldn't call myself a fair-weather fan, but when it comes to sports of any kind I root for whatever team Bill Murray's rooting for (Chicago all day) and also for hot soft pretzels with melty cheese. As the world's biggest fan of semi-spicy soon-to-be congealed melty cheese, I find myself at an adequate amount of sport-ball events, most recently the San Jose Sharks hockey game. Also, #LeftShark. We had what I think are pretty great seats at this game and we def paid a high price for... at least for I'd like to be paying to watch a bunch of dudes sweat it out while I freeze my t*ts off in the icy arena stands. I guess in comparison to what I would have paid in Chicago it was still a deal at under 2-hundo and a solid $7 to park 15-minutes from the stadium. The things I loved the most were simple but left me feeling endlessly entertained and I will list them now (I just had some alcohol and that's the very best segue I could come up with to go into this, FYI). 1. All the players skate out of giant shark head who's eyes light up red while smoke comes out. 2. That massive shark head then raises to the ceiling and whenever a goal is made by the Sharks the eyes light up again and tons of smoke drops and hangs in the air like a faux fire emergency. You can't legally yell 'fire' in a packed auditorium, but you can apparently do all the stuff to signal that it might be happening... who wouldn't love that kind of excitement? 3. Whenever the opposing team (in this case, the Chicago Blackhawks) got a penalty, everyone in the crown stands and does this thing with their arms and hands that, in all honesty, kind of looks more like gator jaws clamping down, but I didn't care. The Sharks beat both the Redwings and Penguins last week - the teams that played in the Stanley Cup finals last year. A work friend and fellow San Jose fan things that the Sharks are this season's worst 1st place team. Although they are on a nice winning streak right now, I'll withhold judgement on that opinion until I see how far they get into the playoffs. My son and I returned to the Tank for a rare afternoon game on MLK weekend against Edmonton. We had taken in a night game against the Nashville Predators and the poor kid's body clock just couldn't make it past the 2nd period. This time around we had almost the whole day ahead of us and thoroughly enjoyed the game for the nosebleed section of the upper bowl. Here were some other highlights: The Sharks won 4-2! That means 2 points.eh? and free pizza! "Oh Canada" is a touching sing along at the Tank. My son learned that the proper way to respect the Star Spangled Banner is to stand, take your hat off, put your hand over your heart and sing along. Making strange hand and arm motions at certain times during the game can be cool and dorky at the same time. There's still plenty of free parking on or near Stockton if you're willing to walk just a little bit more. And when your kid begs you for the Sharks souvenir of the day (slippers), try not to get too angry when insists on taking them inside of a store afterwards and loses them anyway despite your warnings. read more

My kids were not too happy that I didn't renew our Shark's Season tickets. And I regret it too, because the Sharks are indeed one of the most successful and winning franchise in the Bay Area and one of the best teams in the NHL. If I try to get those Season tickets back and if the team is still winning, it would be near impossible. "Hey being a ticket holder for both the Golden State Warriors and the San Jose Sharks are not cheap, you know!" At one time, I was also a ticket holder for "all" four Bay Area teams. How I got them? I have my connections and hook-ups. It's a good thing that my agency is big and have some of my closest colleagues as a Shark's ticket-holder as well. One of my colleague is leaving out of town for the holidays and have two extra tickets for the Saturday game versus the New York Rangers and Tuesday night game versus the Vancouver Canucks. The only problem is that all of us can't go to the two games with just two tickets for each game. So I took my daughter to the Saturday game and wife took Jr. to the Tuesday night game. Consider it, a early Christmas present from my co-worker. My goodness, our seats were at Section 103 and those were some great seats with the face value at $125.00 each (Yeah, pricey indeed). My kids, esp. my daughter loves Sharkie, the team's mascot and Goaltender Evgeni Nabokov. There is something cool about a guy behind a goalie mask, when she sees him protecting the net from opponents from scoring and making an incredible save, she yells, "Nabby, Nabby!" But when an opponent scores past the Shark's net-minder, she frowns and looks down worrisome in tears. I just picked the arctic sport within the last few years, while my kids know the hockey terms such as: icing, offside, cross-checking, neutral-zone... way too early. My daughter also got a bonus treat when "Nabby" was named top star for the Saturday night game. She cheer happily and will always cherish that night forever. Tuesday night, Daughter and I was watching at home, while Wifey and son were watching the hockey game live at HP Pavilion. Watching the hockey game live is a completely different atmosphere with spectator's adrenaline is pumping. The Sharks won both games and "Nabby" was star of both games. What a Christmas present! With the Shark's ongoing success, I should be knocking my head for not renewing the Shark's Season Tickets. read more

That's where the Sharks play. My son: Okay, because last time I told daddy that I wanted to see the Sharks, and he took me to San Francisco to see the seals and the fishes. I want to see the REAL SHARKS! Me: (Laughing hysterically) Well- Daddy tried! That is still a very cool outing! Don't be ungrateful! My son and I attended our very first Sharks game a few weeks ago, and had a blast! Sharks have an amazing fan base! A fan just walked right up to me, and gave me an extra practice puck for my boy. He showed me where to go next time so my boy can watch the players practice. After hearing warnings from friends about the temperature, I was happy that it was not unbearably cold. I was comfortable without a jacket, though it is a good idea to dress in layers. I also heard a lot about the noise level, but my son and I did not seem to notice. He was jumping up to cheer loudly every time something was happening on the ice. He especially enjoyed watching the fights! The food selection at the arena is okay. I wasn't really in the mood for fast food, so we ate at home, and packed water. I did spoil my boy with goodies since it was his first time. We bought popcorn ($4), dippin dots ($6), a hockey mask ($20), and a goalie stick ($15). My little love was in Shark heaven! Despite the Sharks loss to the Flames- I had a fabulous time! The energy in the arena is amazing, and the fans make it fun. The whole production is just fantastic! I regret not getting out to a game sooner! I'm not a sporty girl, but I am now officially a Sharks fan for life. Got to support our hometown heroes! I look forward to attending many more games! read more

The one star yelp rating is tied to the Sharks online ticketing system. I love the Sharks and am a fan for life (I was there the first season), but they really need to update their technology. Long story (see below) short, I was trying to buy a partial season ticket and their system didn't let me, forcing me to pay a lot more on stubhub for tonight's game. Somewhat my fault for waiting (although the plan came out two days ago), but their system needs an upgrade, as I understand they have other problems with renewals, etc. If they upgrade the system, I will definitely change the review. Nevertheless, Go Sharks! Details: I was trying to purchase their online 5 game plan, which is perfect since I travel a lot. The system asks you to select one game from three options in one field and another single game from three options in another field. The third field has multiple games and asks you to pick three. With that, the "pick 1" categories asks you to select two items (see photo), which would make the total seven games. The pick 1 fields will not be marked as complete until you select two games in each of them, but then the "pick 3" field will only let you pick one game. The "find tickets" button never lights up with any combination. I am not sure how you buy this plan online. Again, Sharks fan for life, please just update the system so more fans can enjoy the best experience in the NHL. read more

And this past Saturday, a dream came true. Mystified and left pondering for an entire month, I was most happily kidnapped onto an Amtrak train heading south for the late afternoon.
