That was my experience upon entering Winston's and browsing the menu. Which, might I add, did not display all available options or reflect current prices. How can you NOT ask questions?! Anyway, when we arrived Winston's looks like a brownstone type of home that has a restaurant occupying the first floor. We happened to find a parking space right in front - go us! Street parking seemed to be scarce. The food is excellent. The most authentic tasting Jamaican cuisine I have had in a long time. It's evident they know what they're doing in the kitchen! I ordered the curry chicken with rice/peas and cabbage. Also, a side of macaroni and cheese, which was freshly bubbling out of the oven. We eat with our eyes first, right? I could not resist! And it did not disappoint, at all. Plenty cheesy and gooey while flavorful, too. The curry chicken packed a delicious punch of flavor with each bite as it fell off of the bone. The cabbage, my favorite, shredded into perfect slices and a little spicy kick, perfectly combined with the few potatoes and carrots included with it. The rice/peas was delightful as well. A great meal! By the time we were ready to exit, the service had become much 'friendlier'. However, it is not lost on me that it's only because the owner, Mr. Winston himself, came in and greeted us. He was so jovial and inviting. Prior to that moment, the gentleman behind the counter had MUCH attitude. Overall, the food is what will bring me back here. And I WILL be back!
