FYI - I am from NYC. I've been to Jamaica, all over.. from home-cooked meals to resort/restaurant food... I love Jamaican cuisine. I came to Bethlehem PA to visit a few brothers. I wanted them to get out the box and find me some good food that is not from a pizzeria, WaWa's, GIANT Supermarket, etc. We settled on....... JAMAICAN! "Yes!", I thought. But, tbh, I wasn't expecting much out here. But boy, I was proven wrong with Cherry's Caribbean Palace: - Curry Goat: Soft, tender, hearty, healthy meat. It was cooked perfect. Not gamy or chewy, but exactly what you'd expect when you think curry goat. Perfect, mild, yellow, Jamaican curry style flavor. - Curry Chicken: You know Cherry's is authentic by how to they chop up the chicken. Bones and meat - it's not a thoughtless dish. You have to work at it, but so worth it. Doesn't seem like it's those hormone-pumped, farm raised chicken. Again with perfect, mild, Jamaican curry flavor. Not too spicy at all. - Jerk Chicken: Fire, in the traditional island jerk sense. Made a few of us sweat. Healthy, meaty portions. Skin was perfectly cooked with the jerk. It wasn't falling apart, like other places. - Jerk Pork: It's jerk, but you can taste the Jamaican pork, 'bbq' aspect, if you know what I mean. It has a, imo, a bit of tangy hint. Which is why I rate it Delicious. - The beef patties: oh man, the beef patties. The ground meat inside was not liquified (think pizzeria beef patties), and it wasn't dry crumbs (think supermarket fast food beef patties). It was top notch. You can tell because Cherry's cook their beef patties with a little slit/hole on the top of the patty (I assume they do this because they know how they want to cook the meat inside). Frickin' loved the beef patties. - Oxtail: the meat itself was quality; not full of ligaments or fatty parts. It wasn't dry and overcooked. It was perfectly made. And the sauce, ooh, the sauce. It's not like how other restaurants would use the same kind of base & spices, but at Cherry's, they have a specific oxtail sauce that is distinct, and quite lovely. - Everything came with rice and peas (great consistency, soft, but not watery or clumpy), perfect balance for all the spicy entrees above. - Everything came with cooked cabbage (fresh, crunchy, and not slimy) - Everything came with sweet plantains (ripe & sweet with a little tinge) Call ahead to order! Much better to work with them direct - not Uber eats! They are good people. When picking up. The gentlemen let us know that they'd bring the food out to our car. It might look like a 'hole in the wall' (no offense), BUT IT'S THE REALEST FOOD. It made me and my boys' stomachs very happy. So this is the second Caribbean place I've found in Bethlehem and I am pleased by both. Cherry's is just a hop, skip and a jump away from my hotel so that made it a no brained when I got hungry. The place is small and I am not sure if they have indoor seating but there is a table and chairs set up outside for diners if you'd prefer that. When you drive up it is tucked back from sidewalk some so you could drive pass it if you're not paying attention. I ordered the jerk chicken with cabbage and white rice because the rice and peas weren't ready yet. The smells coming from the kitchen are very pleasant if you happen to be walking by. My food was ready within 5-7 minutes. I got back to my hotel and the smells lit up my room. I couldn't wait to dive in. Everything tasted great. The chicken was tender and had that good crisp to it. The spice was just I like and the cabbage was perfect. I devoured it all and wished I had bought two platters instead of one. If you're in the area give Cherry's a try, you will not be disappointed. read more

This little hidden gem in the middle of a small borough will be your go-to place for authentic Jamaican food! The owner/operator is an amazing cool and she puts a whole lot of love in everything she makes. My personal favorite is the oxtails with rice and cabbage. I took a picture below, so please don't judge me, it's sooooo good, I had to dig in. The food never disappoints in flavor or amount. The food is not cheap, but you get your money's worth! She also has the Jamaican drinks available along with the standard American drinks like Pepsi and Coke. Doesn't look like much when you pass by, but I was hungry and I didn't want to go to McDonald's. We ordered a JERK chicken platter came with plantains rice and beans and a beef patty's. I will say I was inspecting the kick of spicy but at the end it was awesome dinner. You won't be disappointed. read more

A tiny family-run takeout only place with delicious authentic Jamaican food. Tony and Cherry were super helpful and friendly. I had the jerk chicken and it was very tasty. They warned me about the spiciness level, and with good reason - be prepared for some heat! But for me it was the perfect level of spiciness and really helped bring out all the flavors of the dish. The plantains, rice and beans, and cabbage that came with it were all cooked to perfection too. I'm not from the area but if I'm in the neighborhood again I'll definitely be back. read more

Feb 27th we drove from Harrisburg to Allentown to go to one of the Jamaican food places we like but they were closed so we decided since we made a long trip we might as well find another place. We came across Cherrys Caribbean Palace and saw they were highly rated so decided to go there. Well it was a great decision bc Ms. Cherry and Tony were so kind and the food was AMAZING. We ordered beef patties, a chicken curry patty, curry goat, jerk chicken and jerk pork meals. We have no complaints. As I said before the food was AMAZING. The jerk pork is to die for, it was juicy, tender and seasoned perfectly. Ms Cherry makes her own jerk seasoning and the patties aren't those store bought frozen ones you get everywhere else. I could go on and on about their food thats how good it was. We will definitely be making many more 1.5hr drive trips to Cherrys Caribbean Palace!! Let me start by saying this is a hidden gem. We walked into the restaurant and were immediately greeted with the smell of good food. Ms. Cherry and her son were very friendly and welcoming. Everything looked so good that we wanted to order everything. We probably did. What i love is that the food is fresh. I felt like i was eating at my Aunts home. The oxtail is absolutely delicious. Falling off the bone and flavorful. The jerk pork was tender and spicy. The jerk seasoning was on point. It had just the right kick. The pepper shrimp was also a hit. The macaroni and cheese delicious! They have patties and coco bread which made me so happy. We also ordered jerk chicken and curry chicken. Which were just as good. Ms. Cherry is so sweet. Set an a quiet main street of Freemansburg is a little one room kitchen counter take out that has the best Jamaican food in the valley. Ms Cherry herself makes each dinner by hand to order. My favorites are the curry and jerk chicken. Also Goat. she posts daily menu on facebook. On occasion she does Ackee and Saltfish and other special treats. The food is good but theirs no spice to the curry chicken, it just tastes like chicken and rice. The beef patties are good. I will always remember my first time at Cherry's. It was nearly 3 years ago and I just wanted some chicken and rice with my friend. We stumbled upon it on the internet and thought, "why not?" Best Jamaican spot in bethlehem area and Lehigh Valley. Thats my strong opinion after living in the Valley for 9 years and eating Jamaican food for over 20 years. I use to travel to Allentown from Bethlehem township to get good Jamaican food...that ends with this place. Very kind owner. A good variety of patties and there all made from scratch. I ordered an oxtail meal with red beans and rice, jerk chicken, and a curry chicken patty. All were delicious...seasoned very well. One thing to note is that this is a takeout spot only.
