Not only did this place get me out of a bind, but they did great work and gave a fair price (which, in my experience, is very rare when one is an out-of-towner). Since then, I have recommended him to all of my fellow vacationers at my club in Essex County. HOWEVER: I returned today with brake issues and had a completely different experience, much more like what you would expect when you are up the creek without a paddle (i.e., when they don't see you as a prospect for future business). I guess all the friends I referred failed to drop my name! In any event, I am rescinding my recommendation after taking this bath. Hopefully, my previous super-positive review successfully deleted. My advice: don't drive past other mechanics to reach Viele's if you are in a bind. Expect that the price will suck, take your lumps, and move on. Be safe. No more reasonable prices for out-of-towners here. (Work was still sufficient on this hard-to-botch brake job, hence, I'll refrain from giving the lowest possible rating despite experiencing the lowest possible satisfaction.)

I'd trust them with any repairs I needed to any vehicle I have ever owned. Number One: THE SHOP IS CLEAN! You can all but eat off the garage floors. I can see that the bays and tools are organized and handy from looking in from outside, and that's a key signature of professional mechanics and management. The office and waiting area are clean as a whistle too; and everyone is very polite and friendly in addition to being knowledgeable and helpful. Prices are VERY fair, and they'll quote you up front for any work to be done. For maintenance, repairs, and towing I rely on Viele's as my go to and recommend them every chance I get.

Long story as short as I can make it: 330 miles from home, the Lightning developed an odd, rhythmic…read moresqueak that sounded like something was badly wrong. Owner John Welch was extremely thorough and after about an hour of detective work, discovered the cause to be something completely unexpected: a loose intercooler radiator mount. In the meantime, we found John and his wife, Leanna, to be very pleasant company and ended up talking to them for about 1/2 hour afterward. Despite all the time he spent figuring out the problem, the charge was *extremely* reasonable and, needless to say, I was very relieved to know that I could drive the 330 miles back home with the truck having been properly repaired. If you're in the Schroon Lake area and you need your vehicle repaired, this is definitely the place to go!

The first thing that impressed me was that Wesley answered the phone at 3:45 on a Saturday afternoon when we called to get help with our Kia Sorento. In my experience, it can be difficult to get help from a mechanic late in the day on a Saturday. After we told him that our SUV started to hesitate as we accelerated up the hill on the highway outside of Manchester, he invited us to stop by. When we got there around 4:15, he plugged his computer into the car, diagnosed the problem and, as expected, said that he couldn't do anything about fixing it until he got the necessary parts on Monday. When Monday rolled around, Wesley was able to get an after-market part from Napa Auto Parts but it would have cost $300. Wesley was appalled at how expensive it was! Instead, to save us money, he arranged for us to drive over to NY to pick up the parts from a Kia dealer (our car was drivable). Once we had the parts, Wesley installed them in about 15 minutes. And, refused to allow us to pay him for his time! In the end, the repair cost us $150 but could have cost as much as $500. Because of his integrity, Wesley chose to help us out and to not take advantage of us when he easily could have done so. He said that he didn't like that tourists in need are sometimes preyed upon and that it wasn't a practice of his to do so.
