One of my favorite things about Barnes & Noble is that they have a Starbucks inside making it the perfect place to browse for books and then enjoy a coffee.The customer service at the front was wonderful. The employee who helped me was so kind and quickly pointed me in the right direction to find exactly what I was looking for. It's always nice when staff are welcoming and genuinely helpful.Of course, I couldn't leave without stopping at Starbucks. I ordered an iced caramel macchiato with coconut milk and an iced Americano with a splash of milk. If you're looking for a peaceful place to unwind browse books or simply enjoy a coffee.

I stopped in late in their day, so I wasn't surprised to be the only one there, but the team gave me space, answered very basic questions I had, and - gasp - LET ME TOUCH THE BOOKS. Well, 45 minutes later, I was still oohing and awing at the marvelous selection of first edition books they have to offer. This is the largest selection (aside from corporate-owned Bauman's) of rare books I've seen that include the dust jacket- a collectors actual dream. It's the biggest breath of fresh air to find a rare book store owned by a woman, and to be treated like a human being. I normally get side-eyed from rare bookstore owners and some of the conversations I've had sound like: "May I see the Portrait of a Lady in the case?" "All of these books are at least $100.00 and up." ".....I know." "Do you have any Wilde?" "The book about the woman hiking alone? That's too new to be in our shop, Barnes & Noble would have it." "I'm talking about the 1800s poet." "Oh." I take it personally because while I look like a millennial who doesn't know what she's talking about, I treasure my rare books like they're my children. Sunday stayed AN EXTRA HOUR at her store while I looked and answered all of my questions that I had, never making me feel rushed or unwelcome. After selecting a first edition Fitzgerald, she wrapped it in bubble wrap for my travels back home and gave me an updated book with all of the rare book sellers in the country.

However, the volunteer there named Andrew brings the place down to the dumps. He is unhelpful and lazy, and when you ask him any questions (even something as simple as where you can find X book...), he responds as if he's completely bothered by the fact that you dared ask him in the first place. He comes with bucketloads of attitude and eye-rolls. I hope the library replaces him with a volunteer who can interact with people on a normal level because Andrew just drives people away. I will very willingly go somewhere else to look for discounted books than have to deal with the diva. ANDREW - newsflash...you can't just sit around and do nothing during the time you volunteer, so if you don't want to volunteer there, then don't!

My six year old niece asked for fun books to read so I went right to the children's section. A sales associate offered help and guided me to some books I thought she'd enjoy. And of course I had to pick up the discounted Christmas cards for book lovers for next year. During the pandemic, my recipients seem to have enjoyed getting a card in the mail, like old times. As a fan of actual books- I still don't have an e-reader, I recommend Barnes and Noble. They have ebooks also. Toys and games, planners, and calendars here too.

The attached Starbucks cafe upstairs is great for grabbing a light refreshment. Baristas behind the counter can help you make drinks that meet the familiar Starbucks standard. Cookies and pastries can be heated to order on site. Pro tip, almost always with your store purchase, you will get a coupon for a dollar off something in the cafe.
