It's taken me 2 years to muster up the courage to leave this review. Dr Melnik ( both Marc and Seymour) don't deserve an ounce of recognition. I suffered for months with bleeding and symptoms that were relating to cancer and they kept brushing it off. I went to countless appointments and expressed my concerns to only be told it had to do with my weight gain. After finally self diagnosing myself and calling a my primary dr I was diagnosed with stage 3 cancer. Because of the lack of care from these providers I went through a series of traumatic experiences including a full hysterectomy, chemotherapy and radiation. Do not waste your time with these Drs and find someone who cares about the health of women. read more

Very disappointed, I went here when I was having vaginal issues because I had heard good things from my mom when she went like 10 years ago. However, not only are the people up front useless but they are rude. In addition my appointment was at two and the doctor didn't arrive until 3:50. I later thought it was just a one time deal but the same thing happened when I returned three weeks later for a follow up. I don't know how you can set up appointment and be two hours late, so annoying and disrespectful like we aren't worth his time. I just wanted to add this part in since I had another bad experience weeks after this review. I had a follow up appointment early in march and about a week before they called and cancelled on me and said he wasn't going to see patients that day. However, the doctor is nice and did help a lot because of that I will be back but I will make sure to reserve a whole day for it. read more

Piece if crap doctor's office. Came in 15 mins late and instead of rescheduling me they had me sit in the room for over an hour while they took in a few patients before me. Best OB I have ever had!! Hands down! This is my second pregnancy with him. If he is running late it's cause he is an OB Dr and baby is being born, but once he does get into the office he takes his time with you and makes sure to answer the questions you have. His staff is also good and will help you with any questions you have too. read more

Marc delivered my baby 3 months ago. I have nothing but good things to say about him! He's has such a great personality my boyfriend and I were very pleased with him, he answered any questions I had, and even though I knew he was very busy I never felt rushed by him at all. Obliviously there is a long wait in the waiting room for a good reason he's a great doctor! But the wait is totally worth it. At least it's not like that at the hospital, I planed to get induced and he was honest with me about the days he wasn't on call so I could plan it so I knew he'd deliver my son. I planned to be induced on Sunday night and nothing happened all day Monday and Marc still came to check on how I was doing. And when I had to start pushing (Tuesday at 3am) at Whittier hospital he was there 10 min after the nurse called him! After the delivery (remind you 3am) he still had humor(kinda helps take the stress of delivery away, to have him make you laugh). He checked on us everyday we were at the hospital and he even did our sons circumcision and did a great job(can be a stressful thing for parents)! We went to him because he delivered my boyfriends niece and nephew and his sister-in-law had nothing but good things to say about him! I definitely plan to have him deliver my children in the future also haha read more

I came upon Dr. Mark and Seymour Melnik by chance. Back in 2013, I had a blight pregnancy and experienced heavy bleeding sometime around midnight. I rushed to the nearest Urgent Care and later transferred to Whittier Medical Hospital. From there, I was assigned to Dr. Marc Melnik to perform the procedure of aborting the empty sac. His words were comforting at a time when I felt like a failure, sad, and nervous. You could tell right away that he loves what he does and genuinely cares. Since then I've been grateful to have him and his dad as my OBG. Only downside is that they are so well-liked that sometimes you'll find yourself waiting in the waiting room for an hour after your appt. time. So bring a book or pick up a parenting magazine to read while you wait. Fast forward to July 2014, he delivered my baby girl. And again I am so grateful. Turns out her umbilical cord was loosely wrapped around her neck, but Dr. Melnik was quick to react and unraveled the umbilical cord before I gave my final push. I just wish he was also a Pediatrician. read more

Listen people... The wait is awful sometimes (I think I've seen every episode of Chopped on Food Network) The decor leaves little to be desired BUT Dr. Marc Melnik is the best dude! He's incredibly warm and really takes extra good care of his patients, as he has my wife. He answers any questions you might have (Trust me. My wife shows up with lists). Dr melnik delivered my first child. I had one of the greatest first time pregnancy dr visits at his old office in la Mirada, the staff was amazing very caring. This time around I visited dr. Melnik office in Whittier in Whittier blvd. The staff there not all but mostly the ladies taking your vitals, every time I went they had an attitude. As a pregnant patient you come in excited. but as soon as you meet this two young ladies you just want to run out! Girls at the desk were always polite, do need a little work answering phones though. I was a patient of Lisa Williamson and Dr melnik during my last pregnancy and have to say they are amazing! Lisa especially took her time during my exams and was very informative throughout my entire pregnancy. Her level of professionalism and knowledge are impressive. If you get lucky enough to schedule an appointment with her do it! The office staff is very friendly and professional too. My only complaint would be about the girl in charge of referrals alisha. She dropped the ball several times and I always had grace for her because they opporate in an extremely busy office and have a ton of patients. However she dropped the ball big time on my son's circumcision. I called her when my son was one week old asking her about the procedure and to schedule an appointment and she said she would get back to me after the referral went through. I called her again a week later and she called me back and left a voicemail saying she was still waiting to hear back from insurance. Finally after calling her 6 more times I finally got a hold of her and she told me insurance didn't approve and that now my son was too old to get the procedure done. I ended up going straight to his pediatrician who called alisha and was told that I never requested a circumcision for my son. Well clearly I have time stamped voicemails and insurance records that say otherwise. I wish she would have just been honest and said she forgot to call me and that sadly it was too late for him to get it done with the Dr. Now I have to put my son under to get the procedure done. Definitely not something I look forward to. I absolutely love the melniks and staff but am considering another office since the referral girl seems very overwhelmed. read more

This is my third pregnancy and due to the time gap in between my children I feel like I don't know anything but Dr Melnik takes he's time to answer all of my questions and concerns. Always calls back when you need something. Takes he's time with every patient, hence the wait. He's staff can be a little frustrating but I've seen worse. Doctor Marc has been a blessing. I had many gynecologist who were very disappointing. Doctor Marc totally exceeded expectations. Due to my childhood issues he made me feel safe and secure. I have been Dr. Marc Melik's patient for over 18 years before there was YELP!, before I had woman OBGYN...TOTALLY Different:( I experienced infertility and 4 miscarriages early on. Marc patiently, professionally and compassionately gave me hope. Always took his time in appointments, help me feel comfortable and answered all my questions. Treats every patient with genuine care. My children are now 16, 15, 11 and 7. I can never Thank him enough for getting me thru my pregnancies, No matter how unsure I was or scared. If I could give negative stars I would. This Dr is discriminating and hates over weight women. He verbally abused me in his office. Telling me I was grotesque and disgusting. That he could not work with my weight. I seen him for three months. I only seen his assistant even tho I had asked numerous times why I had not met him yet. His office would say he had an emergency and was not in office the time of my visit. I chalked it up to that's the life of an OBGYN. When he finally seen me in Dec. He was cold and mean stating I would be lucky if my baby and I survive giving birth. He said you are high risk over and over again. I asked for what? All my test came back with a good bill of health and have had no complications. What am I high risk for? He says everything. He then pulled my shirt up to examine me. He stated with a disgusted look oh I I can't work with this look how big your stomach is. How do you walk around with that? I almost broke into tears. I asked him to stop the examination. I told him tell me you are refusing to care for me and what happens next because were not finishing this exam. He then stated I will not deliver your baby. After all that he tried to get me to take my blood pressure again so he could use the high reading against me. I knew it would be high because of the fight we just had. I refused and asked what he was trying to prove. Funny thing is I met with a high risk OBGYN and she stated I am not high risk. I will sue this Dr and have filed a complaint with my insurance company as well as the medical board. This Dr is a C section Dr he likes to schedule them around his precious time.
