Dr. S Melnik is a doll. He is very kind and has a nice grandpa vibe to him. He listens to your questions and concerns and is very knowledgable. I'm very glad that I went with him and his son as my OBGYN. The best that Whittier has to offer although I do agree the wait time could be a bit long, but I've waited longer elsewhere. The office assistants do chit chat a lot and one of them did not want to tell me my lab results (which is weird because it's my information and I have the right to my files.) Dr. Seymour Melnik neglected my mother after she complained of horrible pain for 30 days post-hysterectomy. He didn't once reexamine properly. Dec 23, 2004, he gave her a clean bill of health. She fell into a coma on Dec 25, 2004 after emergency surgery. Why? He made a mistake on the surgery and ignored to find it until she was septic because he was too busy visiting his daughter back east while she had surgery. He never apologized to my family for killing our mother/his patient due to neglect. The office ignored her (almost daily) phone calls of pure agonizing pain. Instead of apologizing and taking accountability, he charged my family with the bills of the surgery that was done wrong. Sad doctor. Do not visit. It has destroyed my family. Be careful! Ask him about this. By law he can not lie. We are still waiting for him to apologize and refund our money of HIS MISTAKEN hysterectomy. read more

I can't say enough about Dr. Seymour Melnik, I have been seeing Dr. Melnick since 1982 when my first child was born. I had seen others since because of insurance changes and then finally went back to him and have stayed ever since. I have appreciated his kindness, professionalism, and sincerity. I have dealt with many doctors over the years and he truly is among the top of all doctors. It is so nice to know that there are professionals out there that do care about us as a person and go out of their way to make sure we get the best care ever. My husband also appreciates Dr. Melnik and likes him so much that he comes to all my appointments just to chat with him. We, of course, aren't having children of our own at our age but I do go for all my other check-ups to maintain health. I recommend Dr. Melnik to all women and wish there were more Doctors like him. read more

I can't even begin to describe what an amazing Dr. This man is. Getting an appointment is a little tough but the staff worked with me so much I am grateful to them also. From the day of my diagnosis, to the actual surgery, while I was in the hospital, day of discharge and after I was home, he was hands on, supportive and so amazing words cannot describe. DR. MELNIK AND HIS SON, ARE AMAZING DOCTORS. The reason I am giving one star, is because the staff here is absolutely rude. I had to change offices because I couldn't handle the rudeness and unprofessionalism. I went with my 4 week old baby when it was very hot, about 85. My appointment was right after their lunchtime (1st appointment) and Neither Mr. Melnik or his son were in the office, I was to see a nurse practitioner. I was a maybe 5 minutes early so I thought it'd be okay if I went into the nice air conditioned office so my baby wouldn't overheat. When I walk in, the nurses were watching a movie and looked at me and checked her phone and rudely said "Were at Lunch, come back in 3 minutes." KNOWING IT WAS HOT, KNOWING I HAD AN INFANT IN A CARSEAT. I was baffled. I told them that my baby was sweating but no reply from anyone. One nurse came running after me as I went to leave and never come back, and said "Oh, we just had to make sure we changed the channel first, you can come in." What exactly were they watching?? They have many other offices and I advise anyone to drive further than deal with all the ex-cholas that work here. Again, I ADORE both Dr. Melnik and his son. They were both equally amazing doctors throughout my whole pregnancy and highly recommend them to everyone who love a friendly, sensitive, and thorough doctor. read more

I love both dr.melniks!! I had my daughter with them almost 7 years ago and even though I am no longer in the area, I make the drive to their office so they can deliver my second. I don't think I would feel comfortable with anyone else. And as far as all the bad reviews on the staff I'm not sure if they have gotten new ones or not but they are all very friendly. They let me know as soon as I get there if the doctors are in delivery and won't be on time and try to accommodate based on how long it might be. Being a doctor that delivers babies of course their schedule isn't always going to be on time. That is not the staffs fault. It also says in the office that children are not allowed due to keeping all their pregnant patients healthy. Once again don't get mad at the staff for something that is not their fault. read more

I been seeing both Dr. Seymour Melnik and Marc Melnik for my first pregnancy. They are both very patient and kind to answer all of my questions. They will not very polite and won't rush you out the room like other doctors. Staffs are nice, they delivered the msg to doctor fast and call me back right away. Dr. Seymour Melnik is responsible for the death of my mother. He operated on her leaving a piece of gauze in an ELECTIVE hysterectomy. It is my opinion these doctors do hysterectomy to make more revenue when they are not needed. The doctor told my mother its a form of birth control, very easy to do. My mother made repeated complaints for 1 month and was told go to ER if its that bad (which she did 2 times) none of the times did they check to see if something was wrong with the surgery. We never even got an apology. My father didn't want to sue. We were all broken hearted. His son was supposed to look after my mother while he was visiting his daughter on the east coast. His son also failed at doing his job. Beware my mother had her faith in both Dr. Melniks and she is dead. She went into a coma on Christmas Day and never came home. All because of a careless doctor. My previous OBG was terrible, found out I was expecting and the soonest I could see my original Dr was 2 months away. Heard about Dr. Melnik from my cousin who had him as her Dr and decided to give it a try. My baby will be due in Feb 2016 and so far I love this practice, the front desk is very helpful and I don't have any complaints about this place. Will be keeping Dr. Marc as my main Dr from now on. Melnik and Seymour are amazing and attentive. I have never felt this safe with a dr. Unfortunately before you see them you have to go through the trolls who refer to themselves as nurses. They are beyond rude. First they book me for an appointment and obviously its a month away. I arrive to my appointment and the troll tells me she doesn't have me on their list. And I have to wait for the Dr to see what they can do. Really? How.about you add me to the list that I was supposed to be on. And since I'm a little more patient I ask if I can see the doctor any day this week or following because it's an emergency for me. Of course not I get offered an appointment which is a month away from now. Haha seriously the nerve...because it's my fault that you guys are very incompetent. read more

do not go here! they do not allow children to be in their waiting room! they want you to take your child out to the lobby by the service elevators and sit in some chairs they have out there... and wait to be called! (like a leper) they do not allow them in the waiting room at all, but you can take them in the room when you are being seen! ???? won't the child pass by the pregnant women or may even be near one. i guess pregnant women can get some serious illness by sharing a waiting room with children! a pregnant women should not be exposed or near children because they might harm the unborn child is what i was told. hmmm...??? what?! that was news to me. i have never ever been told that my child could not be with me in a waiting room or near a pregnant women before. don't pregnant women walk out of their homes? there are children everywhere! (malls, restaurants, beach, pharmacy, etc.) they are going to have one for crying out loud! i have never heard of this policy and believe it is the most ridiculous thing i have ever heard! women have children in hospitals! that is where the most dangerous diseases are! i even offered to have my daughters vaccine sheet be faxed to there office, but they refused! why? if they are so concerned that my daughter has had all her shots so that she doesn't affect others then why refuse to see her vaccination form!? i will never go there and i hope anyone who has or plans to have children find this seriously offensive and discriminatory. i took a stand against this policy and hope others do the same. read more

The nurses and staff were okay and they were kind to me. I was perfectly fine with office up until I met DR. Melnik Sr. I have myotonic dystrophy but it's under control and the main issue is that I'm wheelchair bound but I plan on going into physical therapy after I have my daughter and recover from giving birth. I am very independent and rarely require help. I plan on walking again and being an amazing parent to my daughter. I felt incredibly disrespected and if I could, I would get another OB but I'm 32 weeks and I don't have any time to change. Instead of asking me what I'm capable of he just assumed that my disability defines me. Yes there is a risk of complications but it's very unlikely. Another thing that really pissed my off was the fact that he completely ignores the update that episiotomies are only necessary in certain situations. It even says so in the description. In fact they can actually make tearing worse and cause a longer recovery. My old OB asked the right questions and treated me with respect, I wish there was a way to switch back. I don't like being underestimated or treated like a cripple. I am a soon to be mother who just wants to have the closest thing possible to a relaxing, calm and intervention free natural child birth. I know that things don't always go according to plan and that there is always a possibility for complications. I don't need some a**hole fighting me on it or being pushy. It's a well known fact that the higher the stress level, the higher the chances are for complications. read more
