I Eat the soup beans and cornbread, hit the spot. The water has a "dirt taste." The server says it's the local water. I recommend they call Culligan and get that fixed. I didn't really see food that was farm fresh or seasonal for this time of year so I'm not sure what the "farm to fork" meaning is. First thing, the directions on Yelp are wrong. Map it with another app it's just a little further down the road than the directions sent us. That said, it is Absolutely worth getting off the interstate for. Prices were good, service was great and the restaurant was clean and comfortable. My husband had a giant baked potato stuffed with pulled pork and coleslaw that he says was great. I had soup beans, fried cornbread and a side of fried potatoes and it was excellent. Simple fare done very well. Save room for dessert, ours was very good. I would give 5 stars if they served real butter with the delicious fried cornbread. We'll be back. read more

The best country cooking restaurant I ever ate at in my 68 years. Worth a 100 mile drive....

My bf and I went in as we had heard good things. The waitress briefed us and walked away she was MIA for quite a while. When she returned we placed an order for drinks and an appetizer. She returned and we ordered food, she was very snarky and acted as though it was bothering her if we could have an actual steak vs the steak medallions and she told us she would have to check, She disappeared. When she returned a crazy time later we were informed it could not be done as they received the steak pre cut from the store. We got our food, my chicken strips were albino and in desperate need of color. His burger was not to his desired temp however we didn't get any refills in this all but deserted place... our waitress must have been busy. Maybe we will try again for breakfast someday. read more

Wasn't what I expected. I had been wanting to go there forever. Usually on Sunday but they are closed on Sundays. Expecting the most awesome meatloaf. That wasn't the case the sauce on the top was sweet the meatloaf just fell apart. Everything else i ordered was great. Waitress was nice she didn't keep our soft drinks full. She asked my husband how he liked the food. He told her the reason he didn't eat his meatloaf was because he didn't care for it. Told her that he wasn't going to lie about it. read more

The food here is ok but not great. My friend got a double cheeseburger and fries and I got the meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and slaw. The slaw was tasteless. The meatloaf has a way to sweet sauce on it. It was very sugary so I scraped all I could off and then it was just bland. I don't think the potatoes had any butter in them. The meat on the cheeseburger was VERY thin. I wish we had waited until we got to London to eat. read more

How does this place stay open under the lie of "farm to fork"?! The fried food was good. That's where the positive comments end. The prices are middle of the road. The service was less than ideal. No refills. No butter after asking. No one ever checked back on us after dropping off food. The waitress was kind but inept. The mashed potatoes were lousy. Probably from a box and not even good ones at that, no butter milk, salt, or pepper. The burger was bland and poorly pattied. The corn bread was more like corn pancakes without butter or sweetness. The fries were obviously from a store although not bad for store bought. The chicken tenders were good but some ranch, honey mustard, ketchup, bbq, or hot sauce would've helped except the waitress wouldn't have brought it even if she came back and asked which she didn't. The grilled cheese was store bought white bread and Kraft singles but not bad. The hot dog wasn't all beef. The green beans may have been from the farm because they were string beans that no one strung when they were snapped. They were also without any flavor. I spent $70 including the generous tip for 2 adults a 5 year old girl and 6 year old boy then had to make the kids food when we got home because there was no chance they were gonna eat that "corn bread" and stringy beans. I really was duped and expected a small farm community to work together to provide a meal of locally produced cuisine. If your looking for good country style cooking this is the place. We stopped by to check out their dinner menu. I had the fried chicken livers and my husband had their chicken fried steak each of which were served with a choice of two sides and fried cornbread or a roll. All that for only $8.99 a piece. Our 7 yr old grandson was pleased with his cheeseburger that included fries and cole slaw. We finished our meal with desserts to go : peach cobbler, coconut cream pie and gooey butter cake all of which were delicious. In Mount Vernon for the Renfro Valley Rock and Run Half Marathon, checking yelp for Restaurants. Marcella's immediately caught my eye. Deep fried everything. Pure hillbilly heaven. I am a native of the area but have been gone for many years. Haven't had any real heart-clogging , artery screaming food like my mama used to cook in way too long. My friend and I met my sister and hubby there for lunch. Beware! Googe maps does not recognize the address, kept taking us to 99 Wilderness road on Hwy 25 South. So I called the restaurant and a wonderful young lady instructed me to Hwy 150 about 3 miles away. My sister and I ordered the fried chicken livers. She had mashed potatoes and fried okra, I had fried taters and soup beans ( thats what we hillbillies call pintos). Brother-in-law and my friend had country ham. Everyone had fried cornbread. We all tried some of everything. It was incredible. Huge portions, all entries with sides and bread for $8.99. It was a wonderful homecoming. A meal that would have made mama proud! I live less than a mile from this place, the look may be deceiving it doesn't look like a restaurant. That being said the choices of food in this county are terrible so Marcellas is a good choice. My wife and I always tell ppl it's like going somewhere to get home cooked food if you don't feel like cooking at home. The quality of the food is nothing to write home about, just average nothing special. Inside is cute but very open. Service is always great and they always have a special. I enjoy going here when I don't feel like driving to Somerset or Richmond where they have options of restaurants. read more

We stopped here to eat today while passing through to Tennessee. We asked to sit outside at the little 4 top table because we had our puppy with us. They were very accommodating and we had super fast service. The ham and swiss sandwich platter was superb and the prices were amazingly cheap. After a day driving through the back roads of Kentucky we stopped here for dinner. The service was wonderful! We enjoyed turkey and dressing and it was delicious. I don't typically like cornbread, but their cornbread was amazing! It tasted like old fashioned cornbread --greasy, crisp around the edges.... it reminded me of the cornbread I used to eat with my papaw. Highly recommend! read more

Located in a county that doesn't have many options to choose from, this restaurant is clearly the best choice. I have always had a great experience dining here. The food portions are perfect, and the food is always hot and well cooked. I would personally recommend the meatloaf. Their homemade cornbread is also a great side option. We stopped into Marcella's as we are on the I-75 corridor often and were pleasantly surprised! The wait staff were super friendly, helpful and fast. Then, the food was even better! My husband had the tenderloin dinner and I had the meatloaf dinner. We shared both so we could each taste both and the consensus was both were very good and homemade. Cooked just right. The cornbread was wonderful and brought back memories from childhood. We highly recommend Marcella's if you're wanting a home cooked meal. We definitely will put her on our regular stop list as we head up and down 75! read more

Good basic home cooking! The food portions are substantial and reasonably priced. Friendly service. This is one of the better restaurants in the Renfro Valley/Mt. Vernon region. I agree with the clean rest room comments from other reviewers. It's a little out of the way but not that hard to find. read more
