When I'm in town I both come here and order out. I like both a lot. The takeout menu and software works well, and it's easy to customize your order. The live service is great, always friendly, maybe a touch sassy, but always efficient. And the food is good -- in particular: the pasta/pesto, the calzones, chicken Roma, the cheese ravioli, and the meatballs. Sure it's a little old / old school. Central Oregonian here, been to Marcello's about 12 times. Ambiance is 5*****. Had some great dinners initially, however, my last 3 times here were under par. Even with a party of 7-10 we have been pushed to finish dinner and get out. $1000+ bill. The past 2 times, we showed up 30 minutes before closing and were told that they were done seating. We want good food, good service, and good ambiance, and we are willing to pay for it. read more

I ordered the Penne Arrabbiata with jumbo prawns ($30 btw) just for it to come with only 3 pieces of normal sized shrimps. I was warned it was spicy, there was so spice or frankly any flavor at all. My friend got the spaghetti with meat sauce and her's was also bland and not good. All three of us found our food to be not good. We went to Marcella's for New Year's dinner with our 12-year-old daughter. We had a fantastic time. Our server was prompt and friendly and the food was spectacular! My daughter got the 4 cheese ravioli with alfredo and my partner had fettuccine with marinara and alfredo plus a side of meatballs. I had a house salad with in house made balsamic and a glass of wine, plus several bites of their food. We also got fresh baked bread with olive oil and balsamic. I love going to this hidden gem just a block away from The Village when in Sunriver! Their fresh bread with balsamic sauce starts things off on the right trajectory. The Linguine con Carne with the house sauce (half red / half white) or lasagna are my "go-tos". Kids spaghetti with a huge meatball is a fav for my kids! For an Italian restaurant establishment, it is average at best, but it's understandably the only one in the area. I recommend getting a reservation to be sure you have a table. The outdoors seating during the summertime is quite nice. The lemon drop cocktail had a nice balance between the lavender and lemon. I ordered the linguini con carne with the white sauce. Beware. The service was so bad ,and the food underwhelming. My lasagna was served refrigerator cold. I watched everyone eat as I waited to see our waitress as we ordered a refill soda and a beer and assumed she would return. After 20 minutes we were able to locate a different waitress asking for our server. When I explained the cold lasagna and asked for it to be packaged to go she argued with me ,took it away and upon returning she offered it to the table as it was piping hot. Not me ,nor did she put it near me. Not sure why ,but I felt belittled ,and it was a rude gesture and uncalled for. I would not go back. Quiet little Italian spot, a smidge more upscale than the average Sunriver tourist stop but still quite welcoming. Good wine list, and menu is a mix of familiar favorites and specialty splurges. I sometimes hesitate to order fish at unfamiliar places for fear it will be overdone but the halibut and salmon were cooked perfectly. Definitely made up for the side of veg being unseasoned and room temp (school cafeteria style and very out of place considering how good the food was otherwise). We dined here last weekend. I made reservations online for 7:00 on Saturday which required giving my credit card number; I didn't love that but I did it. We arrived ten minutes early and were seated right away and water had luckily already been placed on the table. After 15 minutes, someone that wasn't our server brought us bread/oil/balsamic which was delish. Wish I had wine to enjoy with it though. At 7:10, our server finally came and took our drink order. At 7:20, thirty minutes after arrival, we got our drinks. Kind of a bummer but in their defense, we did arrive a little early. I had the pork osso bucco and it was pretty good and a ton of food. I took an entire second meal home with me. My BF had the lasagna and said it was pretty good too. He also took half home. Peas and a garlic cream sauce for a "Carbonara"? Come on... what is this, O.G.? I ordered the special for the day, which was halibut, crab, and brie, served with angel hair pasta. The seafood was all cooked okay, but it was all rather bland -- nothing exciting. I was looking forward to a little richness from the brie, but I really couldn't find any. Coming to Oregon for the first time, I didn't think it was known for its Italian food, and I was right.... Let me start with this, I had a great grandfather named Marcelo and he was a very prideful man; someone who would live up to what he said he was going to do and provide for the people of his town. I had heard that this place was good so my wife chose it for my birthday dinner. The manager said it had been there since 1980. Definitely in need of an upgrade inside and out. I did like getting the table close to the fireplace. Waitress was slow getting to us initially but made up for it with her pleasing demeanor. She said that the pasta is no longer made in-house so we opted for the Osobuco. Ordered calamari as an appetizer and it was totally without seasoning and very tough. We also ordered some cheese bread and it was slow to arrive but when it came it was cold and the cheese was barely melted. The main Osobuco was not bad but a little salty and slightly overcooked. My husband and I are elderly now. We have gone to this restaurant many times over the last 34 years . We no longer drink alcohol. Tried to make reservations and you either have to have a computer or write down a phone number and call them for them to call you back to make a reservation - already too much work! Gave up when nobody would answer the phone after about 2 dozen times calling getting their voicemail and went in personally. I wore a dress and my hair was styled and make-up on! Explained we couldn't reach anybody on the phone . First thing they did at 4:35 PM is offer us a table in the lounge! Told them we no longer drink alcohol. Then they told us that they had tables reserved at 6:45 PM! Hello? This was 4:35 PM. We're not there to sit and nurse cocktails and slowly eat dinner and spend two hours holding up a table. They placed us in the little tiny empty room in the entryway . There we sat by ourselves. I kept wondering, how busy could they be when they had just opened? I went back to the main dining room and there were several tables empty and came back and told my husband and then proceeded to tell the hostesses that I was wondering why we were seated where we were, and that we felt like we were being discriminated against because we weren't buying alcoholic beverages and placed in an area where no one else was sitting ? The hostess quickly told me she was gonna go back and ask her manager who we had not laid eyes on that night. Why does she have to go back and ask her manager who doesn't even know we're there let alone where they placed us? I got furious at that point came back to our table and told my husband "we're leaving! "I walked out and my husband lingered behind and the manager came out and was trying to save face very quickly by telling my husband "How can we make this right? My husband at that point said "You can't, and you're not the only restaurant in Sunriver! "And we left!!! We were both prepared to order the halibut dinners and we always buy dessert as well! I was at Sunriver Resort for a seminar, I ate here 3 of the 4 nights I was in town. Very friendly staff, food is very good, & drinks are decent. Ambience in the dining room is adequate, but the bar is great. Bar imported from San Francisco, dark wood, great atmosphere in the bar. We had a large dinner (14 people) which I hosted in an upstairs room. Service & food was spot-on for a large party. The upstairs large party rooms could use a little work, cleaning & decor. A true hidden gem. Drove in from Bend to enjoy this spot in solitude a midst the madness of Memorial Day weekend. I walk in 5 min after they open. The first served. Greeted cheerfully and I opted to sit at the bar. Which is like stepping into a scene in the godfather, dimly lit but not too dark, jazzy old tunes playing. 10/10 recommend. Cory was the bartender, very friendly and helpful, I asked what drink would pair well with the pasta special. I'm a whiskey guy, or red wine. I opted for his old fashioned and was not disappointed. Order: Old fashioned Spicy meatballs: The spice does not overpower the flavor. But it comes close. Perfecto. Pasta special. Portobello mushroom stuffed ravioli with a shiitake garlic crème sauce with ground leg of lamb mixed in. The choice to put the lamb in the sauce rather than the ravioli is, the right choice. The mushroom blend offered so much flavor. The dish was very rich. But I wanted every bite. Now I'm sitting here. Satisfied. Side note: if you want to see the chef shine. Try out their wine dinners. We read the reviews on google before we checked yelp. Yelp reviews have it correct. It was fine. We were visiting Sunriver last week and we're excited to go here from the google reviews but once we got there, our experience was not as expected and we will not be returning when we visit again. Pros: The food was fine. The decor was fine. Cons: The service was difficult. We had a table of six but one ticket. Ordered two appetizers, one tea, and three sodas. The special request was lemon slices for the drinks and no mushrooms in the osso bucco. Both were ignored and we didn't see much of anyone after we were served. The food is... odd and The plating is not appetizing. The chicken fettuccini pesto, for instance. The chicken was cubed up into little diced pieces with no sear. We thought it was tofu at first glance. The osso bucco came out bone-up like the neck of a giraffe, dripping of a sickly purple sauce, circled with a tutu of mashed potatoes and limp, unseasoned vegetables. The spicy meatballs were so dense if they are house-made they mix the meat with an industrial Hobart and scoop each out with a melon baller. Also, they are served pre-cut... which probably saves on the need for a steak knife to cut through those solid balls. I had the pesto cheese ravioli with grilled salmon. The salmon was delicious, but the ravioli was thick pasta with minimal cheese filling. The pasta was so thick. I did not understand why there was so much pesto sauce. There was at least a full cup of sauce for four ravioli. It was just odd. The taste was fine, it was not fine dining. The price was fine dining. My ravioli and salmon was $38. Please do not pay this price for this food. It was not fine Italian cuisine. But it filled us so there's that. read more

We had run into a local lady who recommended this for Italian, so we opted to give it a try. We went with a takeout option, so I can't say what the inside is like. I ordered Fettucine Alfredo and added grilled salmon, hubby ordered cheese ravioli, and we both got small salads. We also added tiramisu for dessert. Both salads were great, way more filling and interesting that we thought they'd be. Pastas were SUPER tasty and the salmon was grilled and seasoned perfectly. The tiramisu was light, and was perfect to split. The ordering online process was a little weird, but I got through it eventually. Great outdoor seating. Offered protection from the wind. I had the salmon picatta served with pasta and perfectly cooked vegetables. The sauce was very lemony and had the right amount of capers.
