The food was fantastic. I've rarely eaten at a restaurant that didn't have at least one fail. But Marcello's broke that streak. Every single dish was just delicious, from the prawns and bruschetta appetizers to the Rizotto and ravioli mains, to the truly scrumptious cheesecake and chocolate cake. Google said they were closing at 8pm, when we walked in at 7:15 and I asked the bartender if they're closing at 8pm, they didn't seem to have a clue. They seat us, and tons more people came in after. They didn't close at 8pm. So I'm not sure what time their true closing time is. The waitress seemed to be confused at which tables were theirs. We had multiple waitresses come by telling us they'll be with us in a minute, then didn't show up again. We felt a bit ignored and passed off. Food, the good, pastas. The bad, bread. Their fresh bread was dense and dry. We ordered the garlic cheese bread which the waitress recommended. It was on the same dry bread, topped with some butter, didn't taste any garlic. And then loaded with mozzarella cheese. Pretty bland for what it was. Not worth the cost. Not worth the calories. My husband ordered the Italiano pizza, it was fine, nothing to rave about. My daughter ordered the kids wagyu steak, she ordered medium cooked and wanted some pink. Initially she ordered Medium rare and the waitress suggested to go medium as the chef tends to under cook. It was dry as a brick. Terrible. We should have returned the steak, but my daughter was too hungry. The pastas were amazing. I ordered the linguini con carne with mixed cream and red sauce. When I'm in town I both come here and order out. I like both a lot. The takeout menu and software works well, and it's easy to customize your order. The live service is great, always friendly, maybe a touch sassy, but always efficient. And the food is good -- in particular: the pasta/pesto, the calzones, chicken Roma, the cheese ravioli, and the meatballs. Sure it's a little old / old school. I have been to Marcello's many times in the past and had very good meals. This, unfortunately was not one of them. I ordered spaghetti with meat sauce with added meatballs. Had a party of 6. Server was friendly and attentive. Ordered 3 appetizers, which were very good - Calamari x 2 and the Burrata. Drinks were great, but when the entrees came everything went downhill. Cheese pizza was burned on the edges and bottom, Linguine Puttanesca x 2 lacked flavor and the fish and seafood were overcooked. The scallops were reduced to a rubbery puck, rubbery shrimp and the fish was dry and crispy on the edges. The Chicken Parmesan lacked flavor. The chicken itself was properly cooked, but the marinara lacked flavor. Very little pasta served with it. Could barely see it under the chicken. The steamed clams were good. The pasta on all of the dishes was awful. Absolutely no flavor. Salting the water would have helped all of the entrees. Definitely overpriced for the quality of food. We had the loveliest meal last night on the patio! The service was wonderful and the food was absolutely delicious! Our sons have severe food allergies, and the staff was very helpful and accommodating. Our sons tried tons of new foods safely. Service was slow, we had to wait 20 mins just to get our drinks ordered. Food was so bland. I ordered the Penne Arrabbiata with jumbo prawns ($30 btw) just for it to come with only 3 pieces of normal sized shrimps. I was warned it was spicy, there was so spice or frankly any flavor at all. My friend got the spaghetti with meat sauce and her's was also bland and not good. All three of us found our food to be not good. We went to Marcella's for New Year's dinner with our 12-year-old daughter. We had a fantastic time. Our server was prompt and friendly and the food was spectacular! My daughter got the 4 cheese ravioli with alfredo and my partner had fettuccine with marinara and alfredo plus a side of meatballs. I had a house salad with in house made balsamic and a glass of wine, plus several bites of their food. We also got fresh baked bread with olive oil and balsamic. Omg, the portobello ravioli with a rabbit ragu special last night was amazing!!!! Our server Ohla, made us feel like honored family members. We had a wonderful evening with our friends enjoying an excellent meal topped off with the best cannoli I've had since NYC. Every other place I've tried a cannoli on the West coast, the shell was soggy not wonderfully crispy. So happy to see it added to their dessert menu. read more

I love going to this hidden gem just a block away from The Village when in Sunriver! Their fresh bread with balsamic sauce starts things off on the right trajectory. Central Oregonian here, been to Marcello's about 12 times. Ambiance is 5*****. Had some great dinners initially, however, my last 3 times here were under par. Even with a party of 7-10 we have been pushed to finish dinner and get out. $1000+ bill. The past 2 times, we showed up 30 minutes before closing and were told that they were done seating. For an Italian restaurant establishment, it is average at best, but it's understandably the only one in the area. I recommend getting a reservation to be sure you have a table. The outdoors seating during the summertime is quite nice. The lemon drop cocktail had a nice balance between the lavender and lemon. I ordered the linguini con carne with the white sauce. This is definitely a 2-3 star restaurant. Food is fine, but way overpriced. My Ceasar salad had brown lettuce in it, which for $13 a salad is unacceptable. The chicken parm & pizza were good.Our waitress was lovely , however the service was VERY slow. read more

This restaurant has really great food and we are picky about our Italian food. Yummy Caesar's salad that the 3 of us shared. The linguine con carne was a new dish for me and so delicious (if you like it spicy). My husband loves a great chicken Parmesan & found it. Our granddaughter had the kids fettuccine Alfredo. Beware. The service was so bad ,and the food underwhelming. My lasagna was served refrigerator cold. I watched everyone eat as I waited to see our waitress as we ordered a refill soda and a beer and assumed she would return. After 20 minutes we were able to locate a different waitress asking for our server. When I explained the cold lasagna and asked for it to be packaged to go she argued with me ,took it away and upon returning she offered it to the table as it was piping hot. Not me ,nor did she put it near me. Not sure why ,but I felt belittled ,and it was a rude gesture and uncalled for. I would not go back. Quiet little Italian spot, a smidge more upscale than the average Sunriver tourist stop but still quite welcoming. Good wine list, and menu is a mix of familiar favorites and specialty splurges. I sometimes hesitate to order fish at unfamiliar places for fear it will be overdone but the halibut and salmon were cooked perfectly. Definitely made up for the side of veg being unseasoned and room temp (school cafeteria style and very out of place considering how good the food was otherwise). My husband and I are elderly now. We have gone to this restaurant many times over the last 34 years . We no longer drink alcohol. Tried to make reservations and you either have to have a computer or write down a phone number and call them for them to call you back to make a reservation - already too much work! Gave up when nobody would answer the phone after about 2 dozen times calling getting their voicemail and went in personally. I wore a dress and my hair was styled and make-up on! Explained we couldn't reach anybody on the phone . First thing they did at 4:35 PM is offer us a table in the lounge! Told them we no longer drink alcohol. Then they told us that they had tables reserved at 6:45 PM! Hello? This was 4:35 PM. We're not there to sit and nurse cocktails and slowly eat dinner and spend two hours holding up a table. They placed us in the little tiny empty room in the entryway . There we sat by ourselves. I kept wondering, how busy could they be when they had just opened? I went back to the main dining room and there were several tables empty and came back and told my husband and then proceeded to tell the hostesses that I was wondering why we were seated where we were, and that we felt like we were being discriminated against because we weren't buying alcoholic beverages and placed in an area where no one else was sitting ? The hostess quickly told me she was gonna go back and ask her manager who we had not laid eyes on that night. Why does she have to go back and ask her manager who doesn't even know we're there let alone where they placed us? I got furious at that point came back to our table and told my husband "we're leaving! "I walked out and my husband lingered behind and the manager came out and was trying to save face very quickly by telling my husband "How can we make this right? My husband at that point said "You can't, and you're not the only restaurant in Sunriver! "And we left!!! We were both prepared to order the halibut dinners and we always buy dessert as well! We dined here last weekend. I made reservations online for 7:00 on Saturday which required giving my credit card number; I didn't love that but I did it. We arrived ten minutes early and were seated right away and water had luckily already been placed on the table. After 15 minutes, someone that wasn't our server brought us bread/oil/balsamic which was delish. Wish I had wine to enjoy with it though. At 7:10, our server finally came and took our drink order. At 7:20, thirty minutes after arrival, we got our drinks. Kind of a bummer but in their defense, we did arrive a little early. I had the pork osso bucco and it was pretty good and a ton of food. I took an entire second meal home with me. My BF had the lasagna and said it was pretty good too. He also took half home. Peas and a garlic cream sauce for a "Carbonara"? Come on... what is this, O.G.? I ordered the special for the day, which was halibut, crab, and brie, served with angel hair pasta. The seafood was all cooked okay, but it was all rather bland -- nothing exciting. I was looking forward to a little richness from the brie, but I really couldn't find any. One thing I will say is that I have had the Penne Arribiata here before, and it does have a spicy kick to it, and the penne was cooked just right. Won't be going back. Had the Pollo Marsala and it was hands done the worst I've ever had. Another couple with us split the Chicken Parm and they said it wasn't good. Food was barely warm. Our glasses of wine looked to be about 4 oz and they were $12 each. Service was slow. Server forget the cheese bread we ordered. The desserts were good and that's likely because those weren't made by the restaurant. Save your time and money and go somewhere else like The Wallow. I was planning for a beautiful weekend beneath the ponderosa pines, and I had that. The nature was wonderful, the people were cheerful and the river was flowing in all the right places. Coming to Oregon for the first time, I didn't think it was known for its Italian food, and I was right.... Marcelo's looked to be the finest establishment in all of Sunriver, so I said to myself, let me try that Italian joint. Let me start with this, I had a great grandfather named Marcelo and he was a very prideful man; someone who would live up to what he said he was going to do and provide for the people of his town. Marcello's Cucina Italiana on the hand must be run by a third generation family member, for a digestible example, think Hunter Biden trying to run the USA, it just doesn't work. I had heard that this place was good so my wife chose it for my birthday dinner. The manager said it had been there since 1980. Definitely in need of an upgrade inside and out. I did like getting the table close to the fireplace. Waitress was slow getting to us initially but made up for it with her pleasing demeanor. She said that the pasta is no longer made in-house so we opted for the Osobuco. Ordered calamari as an appetizer and it was totally without seasoning and very tough. We also ordered some cheese bread and it was slow to arrive but when it came it was cold and the cheese was barely melted. The main Osobuco was not bad but a little salty and slightly overcooked. The mushroom blend offered so much flavor. The dish was very rich. But I wanted every bite. Now I'm sitting here. Satisfied. Side note: if you want to see the chef shine. Try out their wine dinners.
