Chicken parm sandwich and mozzarella cheese sticks
    G R.

Great service, real nice employees and quick. Had the chicken parm sandwich and mozzarella sticks. The sandwich was filling, flavorful and tasty. The chicken itself was tender and paired well with the sauce. The mozzarella sticks were ordered "on a lark" and turned out to be awesome. The hot honey drizzle was fantastic. This was a "to go" order and eaten at home.

    This is it!

By far the BEST chicken Parmesan sandwich I have ever eaten. Crispy, thinly breaded and perfectly fried flattened pieces of succulent chicken (two layers!), with Parmesan cheese and tomato based sauce, between an absolutely perfectly toasted sandwich/sub with a crispy inside but softer outside. An explosion of flavor and textures in my mouth. Unfortunately the sandwich is HUGE (no, really, it is way big) so now I have to eat the other half at home some other time. And the people serving were so nice! 10 out of 10!

I was drawn here by some positive reviews posted from local food reviewers and media, and by Ale Apothecary. In my years in Bend, it's one brewery I hadn't visited yet. The prospect of interesting beer and highly-praised food was too much to ignore. - Food options are not huge but it is a food cart, so that's not unexpected. - Chicken parmesan sandwich is very well prepared and very tasty. I could have one of these every week. And it's not at all small so $15 is quite reasonable. - Mushroom arancini. I'd not had an arancini before - what a treat. I ordered two. They too are not small so $4 is a steal. - No plastic or styrofoam containers involved. - You can either get food to-go, sit on one of the four picnic tables or take it inside the Apothecary, which is a cool space. Highly recommended.

    Chicken Parm

It's been weeks and I'm still dreaming of that chicken parm. I've eaten parm hero's in every bastion of Italian American culture this country has to offer and this is among the few that the mere memory makes me salivate. Staff were friendly, food was quick, and the recommendation of spicy style was grand.

    Chicken Parmesan Sandwich

The Chicken Parmesan sandwich is delicious. It might be my favorite sandwich that I've ever had. I've always ordered online and it's usually ready pretty fast.

Cotto has been one of my fave go-to food trucks recently, and I recently tried two of their newer Summer menu dishes. Both of which; the Smoked Porchetta Sando and Cucumber Caprese Salad, proved to be delicious new additions. Located at the Ale Apothecary off Century Dr., the Cotto-team of James, Sarah and Michael are always friendly and great to chat with. SMOKED PORCHETTA SANDO // I adore a well curated porchetta, and w/ a house smoked pork roll, this sandwich delivered the flavor. The pork dripped w/ rich-yumminess, and the pairing of their truffle aioli was a magical combination. Finished w/ fresh; sautéed Greens, stacked on a soft hoagie roll. CUCUMBER CAPRESE SALAD // A crisp, light, and fresh salad that was a great compliment w/ the rich & savory sandwich. Featuring cherry tomatoes, cucumber, fresh mozzarella, arugula, & their pesto vinaigrette. Other familiar faves that I recommend are the chicken parm sando, both the mushroom and chicken arancini (fried rice balls), and the mouth-watering Italian donuts w/ powdered sugar "Zeppoles". If you're already a Cotto fan, check out their new menu items! If you haven't been, go treat yo-self to some killer; Italian street style comfort food!

    Chicken parm

Great vibes at the cart pod. Worth the wait. The chicken parm was great and huge. The fried cheese has a sweetness that I didn't love, but my partner did like it.

So yummy. Hit the spot and right in the heart of Bend. Definitely try the arancini and the zeppoles.

The lasagna was delish, rich flavor. The only downside is the quantity/price. 1" slice of 12 layer is a very small piece.

Food Cart Pods are not a thing where I'm from, so whenever I see one, it's pretty exciting. First of all, do all Cart Pods have names? I love this one; "The Podski", HA! Ok but beyond that, this place had so many delicious and unique options. We had Italian arancinis twice, a sampler of Pierogis, delicious oyster shooters and shrimp tacos. One thing we didn't get but looked awesome: I don't know if we missed out on some gem, but so many people were getting the burgers/fries from one truck. Also, so many other people were getting stuff from the Thai truck. And to top it off... the beer/cider station had an awesome deal. For about the same price you'd pay for a typical pint, they pour about 20 ounces of happy beverage into a taller than I expected glass. The picnic tables are colorful, there's a covered tent if you're feeling cold, people are friendly... it's just overall a great place to chill, drink, & eat.

But this place in Bend... this is serious burger territory. First thing you notice: they're not messing around with the menu. Just burgers that understand what a burger is supposed to be. Double patty. Brioche bun. Cheese doing its job. America. I ordered The O.G. because I respect tradition. American cheese, caramelized onions, burger sauce. Simple system. Works great. Like a pickup truck that starts every time. My buddy got The Popper which is basically what happens when a jalapeño popper and a burger start collaborating. Bacon, jalapeño cream cheese, ranch. It looked like something a scientist made to test the limits of happiness. Fries were solid. Soda cold. No weird nonsense. Just burgers doing burger things. Only reason it's 4 stars instead of 5 is because if I lived closer I would probably eat here too often and that feels medically irresponsible. I'd give it 6 stars if Yelp understood burgers better.

The owners closed up shop downtown and created this new place on 2nd Street in Bend's Central District. It's now called Dogwood at the Pine Shed. Why Yelp won't create a new, distinct page for the Pine Shed is beyond me. That said, the Pine Shed is a fine place for drinks and food truck fare. The open, spacious 'shed' has plenty of varied seating surrounding a nice bar with quite a few tables outside on the patio. Mobility-challenged folks have choices too. For those worried about 2nd Street's reputation for sketchiness, don't be. Revitalization efforts by the city have transformed the area. At times of good weather, with the big doors open, the Pine Shed is quite a nice spot to relax. Cocktails were the raison d'etre for the former incarnation of Dogwood and that emphasis transfers here to the Pine Shed. I particularly like their versions of a margarita but the other cocktails are uniformly good too. The beer tap offerings are not so spectacular, however, with only four (and a cider). On one visit shortly after they opened for business, two beer taps were tapped out, which can be chalked up to growing pains. In any case, the Pine Shed can't be seriously regarded as a tap house in the style of the many others in Bend (On Tap, River's Place, Crosscut, The Lot, The Podski, Midtown Yacht Club, etc.). Come for the cocktails. They do offer low ABV and zero ABV drinks. At present, the food truck choices are abundant and pretty decent. Being trucks/carts, and thus mobile and prone to relocating themselves, I'll not list them here. Best to check the Pine Shed's webpage for current offerings and then go to the relevant Yelp page for reviews. Parking is street only, no parking lot. The city has completed construction on 2nd Street so there are more spots available than before.

To order, you pick your protein (chicken, steak, or tofu) and pick your boat (rice, noodles, baguette, or salad). Current prices are $14 for chicken or tofu and $16 for steak. I tried the chicken baguette option (a self described banh mi) which came with cucumbers, pickled carrots and daikon, and garlic aioli sauce. In my experience, a banh mi is commonly made with pork and pate. Obviously, Da Nang can serve whatever food they want; I'm not making a claim about authenticity. But, I think their sandwich would have been better with these ingredients. The sandwich was good but not great. The baguette was very good -- crusty on the outside but soft on the inside. The flavors were good, but relied heavily on the garlic aioli to pull it together. The chicken was a little dry without the aioli. When I got all the ingredients together in one bite, it was pretty good, but the sandwich size/shape made this difficult. IMO It tasted more like a "chicken and pickled vegetables" sandwich than a banh mi. Service was friendly. It took about 10 minutes to get the sandwich and they gave me a buzzer to tell me when it was ready.
