I don't often write reviews on yelp. However, this is one for the books for me personally. My last hair cut was in Dec 2023. I needed one for sure. I wish I had kept my appointment at my regular salon in SF in mid April but had to cancel due to my dog suddenly getting sick earlier in April and my need to stay with him as much as possible over these past couple of months. I decided to stick closer to home so made an appointment with Marci as I was now desperate for a razor cut. I had stopped henna dying my hair about a year ago to let the grays come and see how I liked it, see if I could go gray. I didn't have a strong demarcation line due to getting a lot of the henna out. Was there a noticeable difference between my grays and my henna, yes. But It didn't bother me, and I said so. It bothered Marci because even though I requested a razor cut bob, and showed her a video of what I wanted, which she agreed to, Marci cut off as much of my henna dyed hair as possible, changing the hair cut from an edgy bob to an old looking layered helmet. It was her agenda. Not mine. Even after the hair cut at first looked cute, Marci took out her scissors to just keep removing as much of the color as possible which I didn't realize what was happening until after. She cut it much shorter in length than I wanted. And I appreciate her apologizing for it. However, she layered all of it in order to remove the henna color. IMO, she just had to remove the color as much as possible to her taste. So now, I have a helmet cut and a dreaded mushroom top of which if I wanted it to be more edgy, I'd have to get it cut even shorter. She got what she wanted. I'm stuck with a haircut that doesn't move, that I didn't want.I am polite though and thanked her and gave her a nice tip. I didn't get the full effect of what had happened while at the salon. It's now, as I've discovered just awful, the worst haircut for me and one I did not ask for. If you want a hair stylist who listens and does razor cuts skillfully without pulling out scissors, I suggest the Jane Edo Salon in Oakland or SF. They dont have their own agenda. They listen and give you the haircut request. read more

So this review is for anyone who is wondering "is marci a good fit for my salon?" The answer is 100% yes! Marci was the first stylist to rent a chair in my salon as a new business owner . I had owned one salon prior but this was my first adventure on my own. I could not believe how lucky I was finding her a few short months after I opened! I had heard most owners say that the hardest part of salon ownership was finding people that were awesome and checked all the boxes. For me , marci is literally the perfect stylist. Her attitude at work is always chill and happy even when she has personal hardships going on. She's super friendly to other stylists and most importantly other people's clients! She is literally THE CLEANEST STYLIST I HAVE EVER MET I can't express enough how much she is part of a team and not just there for herself. If she has an opinion on something the salon needs, she's never passive aggressive about it she just pulls you aside and says "hey can I have this?" Her clientele is also totally rad. Of course they are because you attract great people when you yourself are so kickass. Finally , the hair she does is absolutely top notch. This women is such a wizard with a brush I just watch her any chance I can get. Oh and don't get me started on these haircuts. Her guests that walk in 8-12 weeks later from a cut ready to get freshened up , look stellar ! I always say like, oh are you here to pick up some product? Cuz you look great already! I think that's the true sign of someone who knows what their doing, the haircut evolves as it grows out and stays wearable through the journey. Obviously I'm bummed to lose marci and not see her every day. I know wherever she goes she's going to kill it. If you read through this and you're looking for a new stylist or you're considering having her work in your salon, I say do it and you totally will be stoked on the outcome. I had one person do my hair (cut and color) perfectly for nearly my entire life until he moved many moons ago.
