I've been getting my hair cut here from Ann for a long time now. Every once in a while I either need a make over level haircut or trim my bangs and I'll always go to Ann. The place is clean and cute. Now they also have earrings and bags for sale. I always make my appointment directly with Ann through text which is super easy. You can text her too at +1 (916) 212-8016 (number posted here with her permission). At the time of this review she is working Thursday, Friday and Saturdays. I prefer going to the same hairdresser cuz by now she already knows me and what I want. I also have a difficult hair texture and she can make me look good in a short haircut. I like that she takes her time and is super careful around my manyyyyy ear piercings. And she always makes sure I'm 100% satiated with my hair and I feel comfortable communicating if I want something tweaked. She makes getting a haircut less stressful for me~ read more

Myself and my 2 daughters got our eyebrows done. Even though they looked fantastic, mine and my daughter's eyebrows area were left with cuts. My skin is sensitive so it's expected, but my daughter's eyebrows has never been left with cuts, wounds.Maybe others willl have a better experience, we're just sharing ours. read more

Last year I made an appointment with Leyah for 4PM and she wasn't there. Her staff/co-owner had to call her. She was over an hour late. I bit my tongue and didn't write a review because she was such a sweet person.... Well, I'm writing one today because I had another bad experience at Hair Forte. This time it was with Jessica a new member to the location. She is yet another sweet person. We had a good conversation and had a good connection.... I am a very gullible person who always put so much trust in stylists because it is what they do for a living and are considered a subject matter expert. Boy, am I wrong. I am traumatized and afraid to trust stylist going forward as I've experienced too many painful disappointments. Anyway, the results turned out horrible. Patchy and uneven color mix and the soft straight cut I requested turned out choppy uneven cut. It didn't dawn on me until the next morning that Jessica did not even style my hair. Aren't you supposed to get your hair style after a cut and/or a color? It's part of what you pay for, right? I reached back out to her over the weekend, but no response therefore I decided to write a review. Overall, my hair looks ugly like it was box dye and my cut looks like a cut that I did on myself. For a person of 12+ experience, I was expecting more from Jessica. I reached out to her about my hair and requested partial or some type of refund so I can have it corrected elsewhere. She asked me to return so she can darken my hair and fix my trim. I'm afraid to return because she didn't get it done correctly the first time. She said if I want the color I requested, she'll have to charge me extra money to bleach my hair. Aren't there new products out there now that doesn't require bleach? Anyway, I HAD brown virgin hair and she could have used a different product to color my virgin hair without bleaching. Overall, I'm so sad and disappointed about the situation and results. Definitely not returning to Hair Forte and sadly do not recommend Jessica. read more

Hair Forte - Disappointing results - Hair Salons Near Me - Sacramento, California

This review is for Terri and for Hair Forte in general. I started with a haircut with Terri and have had haircuts from her in the past which have been fine. However, the trouble started when I booked a balayage with her for the next day, which she claimed via text and in-person that she knew how to do. I brought pictures to my appointment and discussed the look I was going for (caramel balayage). However, unfortunately, what I received was not a balayage and looked nothing like the photos I had provided. It came out a brassy orange and was not blended at all - it looked like I had dipped half my hair in a can of paint. I did tell her it looked brassy during the appointment and she appeared to rinse my hair in a toner for a few minutes which did not fix the problem. I didn't make a big deal about it after that because I wanted to give myself a few days to get used it and I began to realize that Terri wasn't understanding my concerns and wouldn't be able to fix the problem (she was going on and on about how great my hair looked, almost as if she was trying to convince me!) After getting home, I began to realize almost immediately that this was not the caramel balayage that I had asked for. To be fair, she did tell me that she would fix anything I didn't like. However, at this point, I didn't trust her to fix it and risk further damage to my hair. I've since had to spend a lot of money and several hours at a different salon getting it fixed. I texted her a few weeks later asking for a refund or partial refund because I was not happy with my hair. Let me add that I have never asked for a refund for any sort of service before, ever. I was polite and professional. However, Terri was extremely rude and defensive. She texted me back and said "I do celebrities for more than 28 years and no one's gonna tell me that I do something wrong." She refused to offer me even a partial refund. I then contacted the owner of the salon and her response was that all the stylists are contract employees and she has no control over their work. She then proceeded to tell me that she knows nothing about hair but that all the stylists in her salon told her that nothing was wrong with my hair except for the color (you be the judge, I've posted pictures). She then tried to get me to tell her the name of the stylist I saw to fix my hair, at which point I told her she was making me uncomfortable and I ended the conversation. So, to all those that go to Hair Forte, please be aware that the salon has zero accountability or responsibility for the work that an individual stylist does. I felt that both the owner and the stylist behaved in a very unprofessional and disrespectful manner and I did not receive the color or style I requested. I am a cautionary tale for what happens when you fail to do your research on a stylist. I will not be back. read more

Came in here for a walk-in and I really appreciated they were able to take me so short notice. My normal hair stylist broke her foot so I had to find someone else in between to do my hair. I really liked my hair at first, but once I got in different lighting and had my friends look at it, I had major issues. I came in wanting blonde or rose gold. I had rainbow hair before and it was pretty faded, but we couldn't get some of the reds out so we opted for rose gold. That was fine. Girl tells me she's not gonna bleach my roots (huh????), telling me my hair is basically black and would come out too brassy. Huh, weird because my normal gal always gets my roots to a nice platinum since we mostly do pastel colors and vivids. To top it off, the owner (I believe) was arguing with her in front of me, telling her that my roots weren't even that dark LOL. My stylist insists they are, but ensures me we will do a color melt. Sounds great. Let's do it. However, I didn't get a color melt. She just slapped color over my roots, so now my brown roots have this weird red tint to them. It's a harsh line between my roots and where my rose gold is. It's really something I could've accomplished at home. To top it off, the rose gold didn't come out as dark as she wanted. It was super pastel and we planned to do it dark so it would fade into the color I wanted and would last longer. She told me she could redo it and put more red ontop of it. She was clearly unhappy with how it came out. I said sure, let's do it. Tell me why she charged me extra for doing it twice? .... When it clearly wasn't what either of us wanted or was going for? I paid $300. $300 to not have my roots done or a color melt like I was promised, $300 to literally have a little bit of color striped and some toner thrown on it. Some of the hair they do here looks great, but with all the bad reviews I'm seeing popping up, I would recommend taking your money somewhere else. read more

I found Ashlee! She used to cut my hair a couple years ago at another salon that went out of business. I don't get my hair cut on a regular, so I lost contact with her. Hair Forte had a great deal on Groupon for a balayage (a type of highlights) and haircut, so I checked out the reviews here first and saw Ashlee mentioned numerous times (positively, of course). Easily made an appointment over the phone and a few days later, we were reunited. I let her choose my balayage color. The result was a little lighter than she thought it would turn out, but I loved it! She can carry on a full conversation and cut, color, and style without missing a beat. She transformed my dull, black, blah hair into supermodel status in less than 2 hours! Highly recommend Ashlee and Hair Forte. I saw the results of the other stylist and she's got mad skills too! I made appointments for myself and my girlfriend for wash, cut, and style. Two days before my appointments I received text confirmation - how nice! Except that forty minutes before my appointment, I received a call from one of the employees saying that Leyah (who I'd specifically scheduled with based on pics here), had a family emergency and couldn't make the appointment. Would I like to reschedule? No, it's my birthday and I have a party! So the woman said, she'd take care of my gf and I'd be with Ashley (who I'd booked my friend with). When we arrived, we were less than warmly greeted, and the woman I spoke with on the phone had accepted a walk-in, so she was asking if the gentleman stylist could take over for her. Wtf! We're fifteen minutes past our appointment time when Leyah, who is also the owner, saunters out, chatting with her employees. Talk about insult to injury! It was clear there was no emergency. Ashley was a cute, friendly, pregnant young lady who had to pick up the slack for the whole crappy team. If I was rating her, I'd give her a solid four stars, despite the fact that she was late. As far as hair, I feel like she'd have done a better job if she wasn't so rushed. But I'm not rating Ashley, I'm rating the 'establishment'. Ashley should leave for somewhere as great as she is. This place is totally unprofessional. I'd left a two hour window for an hour's service with two different stylists. Because of this nonsense we were late for our makeup appointment at the mall, despite the fact that Ashley was able to fit in two people in an hour and a half. Anthony fit me in quickly and accommodated my need for an evening appointment. The salon is really cute and modern. I loved the mirror/work stations they have set up. If I could I would give them no stars I would. To begin with I went in wanting an Ombrè I was then convinced that I "wanted chunks" after reviewing the pics that I showed Kerry Ann. I am unfamiliar with terminology so I said sure. She then finished the hair by saying I had checkers on my head... there are sooo many BLOTCHES AND INCONSISTENCY. she gave me damn checkers. This is the worst experience. Less than 24 hours later I messaged her and she quoted me 50$ for a redo. I CALLED her manager and I was extremely happy knowing that she scheduled me for a 9:45 in which she would take care of me the following morning.... I WAITED AN HOUR AND NO SHOW. I am going to COLOR BAR. They have squeezing me in for an emergency hair color because I was CRYING this is ridiculous. I don't recommend this cheap looking place with cheap service. I started going to her when she worked at Hair Formations and I followed her to Hair Forte, where she has worked for a while now. I would follow her to the ends of the earth, she cuts hair that well. I have short, Asian hair and Leyah knows her stuff. She always manages to supercede my expectations and give me a modern, easy-to-style cut that matches my lifestyle. She also gives great color too... I've never been disappointed. The salon itself is busy and open 7 days a week. I booked a appointment with Lew,i was very excited to go from Brown to silver, she stated for a full color change it would be $300, and it would be a process... fair enough. When I showed up to my appointment she switched up and said she wanted $300 each session and it would at least be 3 sessions...So she wanted $900 for a full color change!!! I just went to see Leyah yesterday and she was AWESOME! Yeah, I read the other reviews here and decided to give her a try. Her myspace was a huge help in my decision, because there are pictures of her work and I liked what I saw. She knew exactly what I wanted and did it :) She really knows what she's doing and her passion for her work shows in what she does. Ashley did my hair, but I'm not super satisfied! I didn't get that transition in my hair. It's more like having chunks of highlights all around my head that wasn't blended with the rest of my hair. My hair absolutely looks horrible. It's really noticeable and it makes it hard to style my hair the way I want. She a cool person though! The place can be a little cleaner. I also didn't like that Ashley styled my hair with the same tools and brushes that she worked on a person before me. I'm very squeamish! Uhgggh read more
