We didn't have a reservation, but they happily seated us. The waiter was a delight and helped the silly old American couple navigate the menu. It was our last night in Paris so we had a lot of coins, and they were happy to let us use both the coins and the credit card to pay. Aman was amazing in making sure our every need was met without hovering. The sea bass and even the sides dishes were nothing short of perfection. Spinach can be tricky and this side was perfectly cooked and perfectly seasoned. The Panama cotta was To die for and the lemon tart was a close runner up. We will be back. And we will sit in Aman's station no matter how long we have to wait. This was one of the best meals we have had in Paris. read more

Yikes normally I hate giving bad reviews but this one deserves it. As we walked by the Micheline star, I was intrigued. We came back after they opened and got the first available spot or so we thought. Stuck in a corner. The people next to us were offered fans to cool themselves we were offered none. The last straw was a piece of bread that had a bite taken out. Yikes. There is no AC so might want to not come on a hot summer day. And another side note, a chip in the glass. Common now. I'm updating my prior review from the summer. I will start this review by stating that I had been looking forward to returning here ever since our prior visit. I dreamed of the wonderful homemade pastas, panna cotta and fabulous service - but things were NOT the same this time. Sadly, immediately on arrival, I could tell things had changed. We were rushed and told they needed the table within an hour of our arrival. Despite that, we never saw anyone turned away due to us sitting at the same table. Also, one of the waiters continued to speak under his breath every time he came near our table and we just did not feel welcome this time (despite attempting to speak our little bit of French). The food is really good, but the atmosphere was just not the same. Also, the panna cotta which was once bliss in a bite, was just a basic dessert on this visit. read more

Badly handled order wrongly executed We revisited this restaurant but this time came across a waiter who typified the old stereotype of aggressive Parisian waiters . The main hostess recognised us and asked my wife about her order. She did not want the standard fish with lemon so the hostess suggested a dressing with orange and other things. When her fish arrived it was with lemon . She pointed out what her order was but the waiter got quite aggressive at this point and said that he was the server and he should have been told about the order . He escalated this further . Stumbled upon this restaurant after walking the Seine. We were seated immediately and menus were brought out promptly. We ordered a bottle of prosecco, gnocchi, and a fettuccine style pasta. Best Italian restaurant in Paris . We had lunch yesterday and were seated immediately. The service is excellent , the waitress was marking sure to add bread when the plate was empty. We ordered pasta with clams and tagliatelle with fresh cream and they were both delicious and so light . As for the dessert, we had the best tiramisu ever . We will be back soon . read more

I live in the neighborhood so I have walked by this place about a million times but I tried it for the first time last night and boy have I been missing out. I think good service and good Italian food are both hard to find in Paris. I found both right here so Marco Polo will officially be my go to place for my Italian fix. They have your classic dishes starting at 16€ and specialty pastas and meat dishes for about 23€. They have three sizes for wine, glass, 45, or 75. The service is super warm and consistent. We made a reservation for 7:15 pm but it didn't get busy until 8:30 or so. They first bring you breadsticks in a prepackaged packet which makes you think, "wtf?" But if you wait enough, they bring you fresh bread! The bread was delicious so much so that my boyfriend could not get enough of the focaccia! In addition to their menu, they have daily specials. We tried their classic veal and I tried the special pasta of the day which was farfalle in a mushroom, shrimp, and tomato sauce. Delicious. For dessert, we got their famous red fruit pana cotta which was out of this world!! Our meal for two came out to 77€ with a small bottle of wine. The ambiance is lovely and I usually hate sitting outdoors but we purposefully chose to sit outside to enjoy the beautiful Odeon chaos. They also have a vote service if needed. Located a few meters away from the Odeon metro, this place is a must if you're craving delicious Italian food and good service! P.S. They speak English, French, and Italian here!! read more

We came here twice, so this review is based on both visits, which if you think about it makes what I write very legit. We ordered: - beef carpaccio: fresh and delicious, beautiful in presentation; - artichoke and grana padano: fresh, tart, and nutty; - spaghetti pomodoro: I ordered this twice, perfectly al dente, fresh and so filling. I loved it so much. This dish was simple and lovely; - tiramisu: not one flavor was muddled. It was elegant and light. They had so many great wine options of which we indulged! Marco Polo was the best way we could have asked to top off our visit to Paris. I tried to make the best of our time in France so I ordered the French onion soup, Escargot, Supreme Pizza, Salmon pasta, and the Marco Polo cocktail. Every food dish was delicious and presented very nicely. It was also served with a generous amount of bread, which was refilled promptly when our server came by. Horrible service. The server (an older man) ripped away my plate of pasta while I was still eating it and then slammed the dessert menu in front of me. He spoke English to me even though I'm entirely fluent in French and have lived in the country for over a year, and made it clear to the server I wished to speak French. The server treated me like sh*t and stared at me the entire time I was eating. The credit card machine didn't work and he threw the receipts at me. Maybe the worst service experience I've ever had. My wife recommended we dine here after reading that Ina Garten prefers this restaurant; now we know why. At 10pm it was still difficult to get a table and we were the only English speaking people in the restaurant -- both good signs. I ordered the special, which was truffle ravioli after having prosciutto for an appetizer. My wife ordered spaghetti that also had a truffle sauce. Italian food is our favorite and this is some of the best we have ever had. The location was nice and our table on their cobblestone patio that is located on a the corner of two side streets makes for great Parisian people watching. Had a great dinner! Staff was friendly and seemed to bend over backwards to make us happy. We had the beef Carpaccio which was fresh and delicious, the gnocchi Gorgonzola which was perfectly cooked, the filet and the pasta with red sauce. Pasta was cooked perfectly!! It was our last night in Paris and we wanted to end on a high note so we ventured into Saint Germain for its bustling restaurant scene. After passing on the seemingly endless tourist trap cafes, we stumbled upon this gem of a place that was tucked away at the end of a quiet street. Every table was full but the owner told us to return in an hour and he would have a table for us. We were terribly hungry while we walked around aimlessly and almost settled on a tourist trap cafe but we didn't, now we can look back fondly on our wise decision to wait it out. I dare say our meal at Marco Polo was the best meal we had in Paris. First of all, it was a good sign that the servers did not speak English because we felt that dining where Parisians dined would promise a better meal. That tactic hadn't failed us and it wasn't about to that night. We were seated at the outdoor patio/sidewalk tables surrounded by well-tended green plants, we enjoyed the street view and it was great for people watching. To spare our kind server from our terrible lack of French, we selected the prix fixe menu with a bottle of pinot noir. Some comical gesturing on our part and lots of pointing later, we selected the artichoke salad to start, the tagliatelle in black truffle crème fraîche and a wild mushroom pappardelle as our main courses with a cheese plate to finish. The artichoke salad was tossed in a mouth watering balsamic reduction vinaigrette with large artichoke chunks that were not only meaty but also bountiful, the generous parmesan shavings on top paired wonderfully with the salad. The house-made pasta was perfectly al dente and the decadent sauces of black truffle and wild mushrooms it was drenched in made our eyes roll back with pleasure. My husband had studied abroad in collage in Italy and excitedly declared that our pasta dishes were even better than what he had in Florence. It was evident the restaurant took a lot of pride in their cuisine. The owner walked around to make sure guests were happy and though we had a language barrier, our server was more than friendly and treated us with patience and warm hospitality. The attentive service made our entire experience even better with the deliciously memorable food. Overwhelmed with happiness and full stomachs, we decided to seek out the owner and our server once again to thank them before we left. How I miss Marco Polo now! *I must also recommend that you visit their cave like restrooms in the basement - and bring your camera, for photos of the cave, of course. read more

Perfect evening! We sat outside and enjoyed beautiful weather to go with the excellent food and wonderful, attentive service. We started with a antipasti plate that not only had yummy cheese and meat but also fantastic veggies! Super yum! Then, I ordered the homemade ravioli, which was exceptional. It was a special and I am so glad I decided to try it! I dare to say it was the best ravioli I've ever tasted. (I ate every bite and dunked bread in the last bit of homemade sauce!) This was the most amazing experience. We walked by this restaurant when we were looking for a place to have dinner. The restaurant was fully booked for the evening but the very nice owner managed to puzzle his way through the time schedule and got us a table! The food was perfect. We chose burrata and carpaccio as a starter (both 10/10), a spicy tomato mozzarella pasta (forgot the name, But again I could almost cry thinking of this pasta 20/10) and a risotto (beautiful 10/10). For dessert - by this time we were so stuffed talking was not possible anymore - we chose pannacotta and tiramisu. Normally I don't like the liquor flavour in tiramisu so I avoid it. But this one, that my boyfriend had, was perfect. It had that little liquor touch But it wasn't too strong. In conclusion, a few days after this experience in Paris, I'm still dreaming about this crazy good food and crying because I'm already back in my home country. We have been to Marco Polo seven or eight times over the last eighteen or so years whenever we are in Paris. We stay on the same street and usually get a bite to eat just off the plane while our room is being readied. This time we stopped in around 6:30 to see about dinner reservations. The slender gray haired gentlemen with glasses whom we remember from previous visits, jumps up from the table and waving his arms begins to shoo us out of the restaurant. Yes, we know you are not open and yes, we are aware of the time of evening that Parisians choose to dine, but no excuse for aggressive rudeness. All your tables are booked for the hour we want? We'll see. Now this area is far busier than just a few years ago and there a myriad of choices for dining. Sure, enough, at 8:30, every other place was packed and only four tables were at his place. my wife and I "settled" on this restaurant after seeing how full our first choice was, on a Tuesday night. The owner told me he had a ten minute wait inside but could seat us outside. The patio was heated nicely by a nice heated lighting scheme, and the Parisians around us were having a delightful time, as did my wife and I. She had ravioli and I the veal and both were delicious.
