Throughout the process Boris responded to my questions even at 9 o'clock at night when I was really expecting a next day reply. Boris and Justin arrived earlier than scheduled to get started but unfortunately my freight elevator time was not flexible. Once we had the elevator they wrapped and loaded my stuff without a hesitation. Boris and Justin never stopped moving and continued working non-stop when we arrived at my new apartment. The movers arrived on time and they were familiar with the rules of the building I was moving from. They were prepared, efficient, diligent, quick and extremely careful when moving my belongings. I really appreciated their decision to wear masks and wrap my velvet couches in moving blankets. They were careful not to damage the elevator or hardwood floor while transporting my large and heavy elliptical. They were also very nice and polite and went above and beyond to fulfill all the requests that were made during the move. My move from Alexandria Virginia to Montgomery County in Maryland took 3 hours total (this includes travel time). What a day! We chose Marco Polo Pro Moving based on their great Yelp reviews and they are AWESOME! A few months ago our nonprofit, Space of Her Own (SOHO), was contacted by Freeman about a Best Western Hotel and Resorts trade show at the Gaylord. They were looking for a local nonprofit in need of furniture and one of their staff members had heard about SOHO. Our mentoring organization serves vulnerable girls, matches them with mentors and teaches them life skills, art and carpentry. The first year of the program culminates in a bedroom/sleeping space transformation for each girl. We had no idea how much new furniture would be donated by the various vendors at the trade show. We were told there could be 5 items or 50. Marco Polo's three movers arrived on time, endured various security protocols, and were there when we discovered over 5 HUNDRED donated items. What we had all planned to be a 3-5 hour day turned out to be over 12 hours and 4 truckloads. Marco Polo's staff worked nonstop and were positive and professional throughout the day. We were in awe of their strength, patience, and care for each item. We were blown away by Marco Polo's service. Next month a couple in Georgetown is donating all of the furniture in their 2 bedroom apartment to SOHO and we are comforted to know that Marco Polo Pro Moving will be on hand to make the move an easy one. Despite all the positive reviews, I would not recommend using this moving company. While the guys were pleasant to work with at the time, we found a damaged tv as we were unpacking and settling in. Not to mention furniture that wasn't put back together properly, but that's a minor issue. We immediately contacted the owner who claimed their insurance did not cover TVs, but his brother would be happy to give us his 48" tv. What?! What moving company doesn't have insurance for such things, and why would you offer us your own tv?! We provided 4 tv moving boxes. Complete with all the necessary padding. They used 3 of those boxes, but not for the one that ended up broken. After numerous back and forth emails, we're done dealing with the owner. At the very least, he could have refunded the money to replace the broken tv, which was less than $200. But, all we received instead were excuses and them trying to blame us for their mistake. Mistakes happen; we're all human. That's okay. What's not okay is refusing to own up to one's mistakes and refusing to make it right. Don't waste your money, especially if they make a mistake and break something. Chances are, they won't own up to it, nor make it right. read more

I typically never write reviews but I wanted to share my experience using this company. The reason why I chose this company was strictly for the reviews. Yeah all of the reviews based on Boris customer service was spot on. I called 2 months in advance to reserve my move date. A follow up email was sent outlining what was discussed. Here comes moving day! Now what was quoted in the email changed slightly because as he put it "it was a mistake on his part". The movers (Andre and Brian) were awesome! My moving experience was great aside from the discrepancy.But when it came down to matching up what the email quote referenced and what the company had was why I gave 3 stars. Moving is expensive already and a slight over sight on the company part can cost you additional unexpected cost in the end. To Boris account, he did call with sincere apologies but for me it was too late. If you use this company for moving, please make sure what you agreed on for the move matches what you have in black and white before moving day and look at the the write up that is given to the movers before they start moving! I got a great deal on junk hauling. Several pieces of furniture in good condition - needed it gone quickly. A few more acceptable pieces and some junk. (Value of furniture more than what I paid to have hauled for junk.). Happy with price point and Boris clearly worked to fit me in. Mixed feelings about two things: 1) Text at 4 am day of appointment that I lost my time slot due to not confirming day after. (I confirmed 2 days later at noon.) I get it - but something amiss with 4 a.m. notification. 2) Guys worked quickly to move things out of bldg to meet time restrictions, but broke a vase belonging to the apartment complex. Didn't tell me. The glass vase was turned towards the wall (cutting hazard) so not immediately seen. Sent msg/pic to Boris to let him know. No response. I told Property Management I'd pay damages. The vase thing just doesn't sit with me right....Update: Boris called twice since 3-Star review posted. Bumping this up to 4. Appreciate the acknowledgement. So I just moved back to Alexandria from Stafford. I used PODS to move my stuff. Because it was a townhouse, the HOA had strict rules about the PODS being there, so I only had a day to clear them out. To add to stress, the former owner moved out the day prior but left a tremendous amount of trash. So trying to figure out how to move in fast, with this other guys trash in the way, I called Boris and his crew to take a trash load. When I got here, I jokingly asked if he had any extra bodies to help me move stuff from PODS. I had called like 10 moving companies for help, but were booked for weeks. Boris told me he'd check his schedule, but maybe could move stuff around to help. No more than 2 hours later he came back and with two others and was ready for work. The guys moved all my heavy furniture very quickly. They did everything it took (including finding ways to get in oversized stuff) to make sure the job was done. I needed to find a moving company for my parents 3 bedroom condo. A "friend" of theirs with a large moving company gave a bid for more than twice what it ended up being, so I did some research on Yelp and found Marco Polo with many great 5 Star reviews. I reached out through Yelp and got an immediate reply from Boris. He explained his service and pricing. No hidden charges our surprises. I complimented him on his 5 star average yelp with over 60 reviews and explained I would get back to him as we get closer to the move date. About a month later I reached out again to let him know we were approaching the date and he was able to accommodate our date with a four day lead time. The move went great. My parents, who, with a number of antiques and priceless memorabilia, were nervous moving customers, couldn't have been more pleased with the outcome. Some of my parents quotes: "very nice young men". "Placed things in the house over and over until we were happy". "Very very nice young men". "Wrapped everything so neatly and safe". Did I say "very nice young men" With nice tips and no surprise fees the move cost about $2000 which was way below what others wanted and maybe more than what bargain shopping would have gotten but the move was not easy and Marco Polo made it seamless. They showed up on time. They worked hard; quickly but intelligently and carefully. You will do well to hire these guys. Had a confirmed appointment today. They didn't show up. I called, no answer. This really put me in a bind with my landlord. My walk through for my old place is scheduled for tomorrow morning. The carpet cleaners could not get in so I lost that deposit. These guys are not cheap either. $140.00 an hour for two movers and a "supply / truck fee of $140". Minimum 3 hours. So unprofessional to not even call me. I would not recommend them. read more

marco polo did a great job moving my apartment. They worked with me on adjusting time because my new apartment didnt have loading dock availability. My only complaint is when i got last move of the day the crew was tired. In the end they ran out of time at my old apt loading dock and had to hurry to get my items out of storage area. I ended up having to move several bigger items myself late that night. I also had some missing pieces to my bakers shelf they moved from storage. i also had one of my entertainment center shelves broken. I initially contacted Boris through Yelp and he responded super quickly. I felt like I was scrambling as I only had a few days left to move out of my apartment into my new house but Boris put my mind at ease as he had great availability. Boris and I spoke briefly and set up a fair quote. Some other places I contacted said they charge for packing supplies, miles, plus a whole lot of random BS but Boris has just a flat rate! I even had to add a trip to pick up some new furniture I purchased and we were able to do that the same day. Boris and I spoke about a fair price for that too! On the day of the move (which was today) Boris and his brother André came early which was awesome! We had only talked about the large pieces of furniture as I thought I would be able to fit about everything else between my car and my Dad's car. That wasn't the case bc apparently I have too much crap lol. Boris didn't hesitate when he saw the other boxes, small furniture, + misc items in my apt and said he could fit everything in his truck. What excellent customer service from start to finish! I cannot recommend Boris enough. Boris helped us out with a move from Leesburg, VA to Alexandria, VA before a big move to Florida. I reached out to Boris on Yelp due to his outstanding Yelp reviews and he responded incredibly quickly with an estimate. We chatted more about the specifics of the move and each time he was speedy with a response. The day of the move Boris and Andre were early and called to ask if that was okay (of course!), surveyed the apartment and got to work. They were thorough packing up all of the furniture and methodical in arranging everything in the truck. He even calmed my nerves when I was unsure of whether or not our haul would fit in the 16' box truck. "There's plenty of room!" This was an unusual move in that we were moving family in with us before moving everything to Florida but when Boris was in the new apartment looking at the entire haul that would make it's way to Florida in the next few days, he offered advice on the size of the next truck that was recommended to us by another mover and calmed our nerves then, too. He even followed up after both moves and wished us well. All around fantastic customer service. We had a difficult move where one truck was a uhaul from NY that was already packed and loaded and the other place that needed to be moved was in the area but unpacked and not loaded so a truck and staff were needed.
