We stopped at Marcos Mexican Restaurant on our way home after spending the day in Broken Bow, and it ended up being a great find. My wife and I shared the fajitas for two (steak and chicken), and everything came out incredibly fast. The food was fresh, hot, and full of flavor. You can tell right away this is homemade-style cooking done right. The service was excellent -- friendly, attentive, and efficient without being overbearing. One thing that really stood out was that they included queso along with the salsa, which was a nice touch. The salsa itself was outstanding. I always loved to find restaurants that are not cooking things from a box or microwave. their menu is a little collective mostly Mexican food however there is fried catfish. I had to try it lol I am a big catfish fan and seafood fan.. anyway I did order a Chile Riano with Carne Asada in it. It was amazing and then I ordered one side piece of fried catfish just to see what it taste like... all was very good. My husband had a chicken stuffed Chile Riano and salad that was super fresh and delicious. He said. My Chile Riano also came with a taco and it was yummy. I like the dishes because each one was uniquely flavored which sometimes is hard to find in Mexican food. It seems like often places have food at all kinda taste the same if that makes any sense... this place has some chefs involved that know their seasonings, etc., at the end of the meal we ordered a sopapilla. They did let me know upfront that they did not make them completely from scratch that they purchased the dough and then fry them... we went ahead and ordered, and it was good for what we expected. We definitely will be back to try more things on the menu. Bathrooms were clean. The only reason I took away. One star was because the bathroom is not heated. First of all- free queso. 5 stars alone just for that. The food was great, too. Our party of 7 ordered a variety of foods and all of us were very impressed with the taste, quality, and prices. The cherry on top was our server, Matt. He was extremely attentive, so kind, conversational, organized, communicative, and will always stand out in my mind as the best server I've had. Never get take out. The food has gone down hill. Last three times we ordered food was bad. Very small portions, item's left out of order, maybe a table spoon of rice and beans. After a day of fun at the nearby K-River Campground we were thrilled to have found this local favorite open late on a Sunday evening. In an older but updated building on the main street in town this was clearly the place to be in Antlers, OK. Plenty of booths and tables in a very open restaurant with a nice indoor atmosphere. Our waitress was friendly and before we knew it we had chips, salsa, and queso. Holy cow - the queso was really good. My wife had their taco salad and said it was great - large enough that she took some of it to go. This is delicious food. I went into the restaurant, we were able to dine in, yay!! And we sat ourselves at the booth. They brought us drinks and menus. I had a lot of options. I finally decided on the taco salad, it was really good, and so big I had to take home half for breakfast. What I really loved was the sauces and cheese dip with our chips at the beginning of the meal. That was scrumptious. This restaurant is a terrific stop, we asked a few local people where to eat, they recommended that we try it out, they were totally right. The salsa and queso are great and everyone gets their own little dish of it when you sit down. We had quesadillas, steak asada, and enchiladas and it was all very good and decently priced. We wanted dessert but our waiter disappeared and you pay at the front door and which took forever for someone to come up so we could pay and they weren't busy. We had a camping group of 31 people. We called ahead and they said no problem for 5pm Friday night group. The service was outstanding. Margaritas and piña colada were perfect. They had 3 waiters making sure we each were ok and got everything we needed. The head lady was working the room and staff like a championship playoff game. Stopped here on the way home from cabining in Arkansas Sunday 11/3/19. We were greeted appropriately by a hostess and sat quickly. The ambiance was festive and cute. The bathrooms clean. I was not sure how I'd like the soup so I ordered that and the skewers. The chicken tortilla soup was awesome and perfect on a chilly day!!! Broth and chicken and veggies yummy!!! Great food! Was on a road trip and took a chance, you should too! The outside was cool, then stepping in you are greeted and seated. The server was super friendly. When they bring you chips and salsa, and best part queso with this! Usually have to ask for this, they bring it as part of chips and salsa. Ordered the burrito and wife and I split it. It was huge! In late summer 2018, we were out in the Antlers, OK area for the weekend (ATV riding) and were in need of a good meal. Drove through town saw a few places, some were pretty full up, and others were either closed or closing up. I'd say we were near the 8pm timeline (it was going on past sundown) on a Saturday evening. This was our first trip out to this area of Oklahoma. Read a couple reviews of this place, seemed like a good place to take a chance. The restaurant is located on a corner, in an older historic building, in the old downtown area. First off the building is gorgeous; with that exposed old brick, the wood work, super tall ceilings, and old flooring, super cool. The interior walls are lined with booths that resemble (or maybe are reupholstered) 1950's diner, and there's tables of all sizes in the middle of the room. Needless to say, plenty of seating; and there were several booths and tables occupied. Waiter came over, for the life of me I can't remember the young fella's name. Anyway what is important is he knew the menu backwards and forwards, could make recommendations; fajitas (of course) for the husband, stuffed with chicken (no sauce, no breading) ancho/pablano peppers with side salad (hold the beans & rice). Chips and salsa were good, each our own individual cups of salsa. Watched the people, visited the bathroom, all was fine. Food came, and boy was it a lot of food, and oh so very good. The waitperson came by several times to check on us as the night went on. As there was no where for us to bring anything home (we were camping out) we passed on the take home trays. This is one of the newest restaurants in town and it definitely deserves some recognition. The first thing you see when pulling up to the restaurant is a beautiful mural painted on the side of the building. As soon as you walk in you can smell all the great food. They offer free queso with chips and salsa which is a plus for a Mexican restaurant. The main attraction is definitely the food which is outstanding. I was agrivated that I payed 15.92 for 2 cups of salsa one bag of chips and a small guacamole that was not the same amount or price that I previously payed the first month of opening. What a great place to eat. They bring out a basket of warm crispy chips along with salsa AND a bowl of cheese. My husband always orders the ground beef chimichanga a la carte, no beans, no rice, and he leaves stuffed like a tick and he is so happy that he's only paid $6 for his meal. I have ordered their lunch specials that vary according to the day of the week that it is. I love their crispy tacos, and their rice and beans are definitely delicious. Marcos' is Tex-Mex at its finest. Housed in a charming old main st building, complete with pressed tin ceiling and and wood floors, Marcos was an unexpected treat as we made our back to the city from a weekend of hiking and boating in Broken Bow. The staff were so friendly, even though we arrived disheveled, damp, and well after the lunch hour. The tortilla chips were thin, crispy, and very fresh; the salsa they bring you is good, but if you ask they will bring you a green tomatillo salsa that has a bit more kick; and if you're a real spice head be sure and ask for the extra spicy stuff in the red squeeze bottle. I got the lunch tamales with chili sauce on top, rice and beans-- they're exactly what you'd expect from a Tex Mex joint, aka delish. My boo got the Mexican street tacos, one pastor and one carnitas, and these were the standout dishes for sure, served with fresh chopped cilantro and limes! And no Marcos review would be complete without mentioning that this place is dirt cheap: our bill was $11 altogether and we felt like bandits. It was okay, decent to say the least. I had their chimichanga with fajita beef and yellow queso, in their menu it says you can order the chimichanga with either "shredded chicken or ground beef" but I said fajita beef and they put it in there. The chimichanga was smallest of all chimichangas I've ever had at any restaurant, and the flavor was a 6/10, the meat to tortilla ratio was low, a lot of tortilla, not a lot of meat, but an okay amount. They don't add too much queso to it either. And the appetizer was a bowl of chips with salsa and little bowl of queso. There WAS NOT a lot of queso in the bowl, which knocked off a star for this review. The queso flavor id give a 5/10. The salsa flavor 6/10. But it's nice that they do give you queso along with salsa because a lot of Mexican restaurants don't do that. The rice was good, just like other restaurants. The refried beans were not good, watery and didn't have that much flavor, I'd give them a 2/10. And the plate had a side of guacamole and sour cream. The guacamole was alright, 4/10, with salt and pepper it was a 6/10. And the sour cream was just sour cream, nothing more, nothing less. If I had to recommend a Mexican restaurant in this town I wouldn't recommend this one, I would recommend don panchos (chilangos). Just because they give you more and everything has better flavor. But the service was a 10/10 at Marcos, the waitress was so very nice resulting in her getting a 20 dollar tip, she made sure all her tables didn't go without drinks or chips and dip. read more
