There are no words that can really describe my love of TexMex. I find that I crave it pretty regularly. While visiting I was told to stop here and I'm glad that I made it my first stop of my trip. This place is kind of the definition of no frills. The plates are gigantic. It makes tasting menus look dumb. You may be thinking to yourself, "I'm from the city and a taco is $5." This ain't the place. $10 gets you a honking plate of food. Everything pretty much comes with rice and beans. Everything can and should be covered in cheese. There are bountiful salsa and chips to be had. I got enchiladas and a chile relleno dinner. I did not need this much food but it costs me about $20, and I was full through the next day. I'm in town for work and I was looking for somewhere to grab dinner. Several restaurants in Paris are closed on Monday, so there aren't too many highly rated options. Dos Marias was not the highest rated but it was kind of close to my hotel. It's not much to look at from the outside. When I pulled up I thought about finding a new place to go. It was probably 730P so the options were getting slim so I headed in. They gave me a menu and told me to sit wherever I wanted. I sat in the back room near the server station. I asked my server what a popular item was and she recommended El Molcajeta. I peaked at it on the menu and went with her recommendation without cilantro or sour cream. They brought out chips and salsa and a plate with lettuce, tomato and guacamole. 5-10 minutes later a plate of rice and bean came out accompanied by a massive cauldron of proteins. They served the beef, chicken and shrimp in a bowl that looks like it's made out of lava rock and pulled fresh out of the oven. The beef was the least impressive. The chick and shrimp were excellent. It is enough food to share and I saw several tables that were doing just that. I'll probably be back the next time I'm in town. read more

The manager's attitude, being a regular customer, one would think that he would be more pleasant & pay attention to what customers have to say about the food & flies buzzing around while I was eating. When I mentioned the flies, he replied that it wasn't his employees. Another time I mentioned that the guacamole went bad & he didn't say anything or ask if I wanted the guacamole replaced & did not remove the cost of the guacamole. Less than impressed. It was super full on a Sunday (must be the only place open or among the very few) and the hostess had nothing to say and just handed us menus. She said nothing on the way out too. No one came by to ask us how our meals were. The carne asada was pretty much the same as the carne Jose except smothered in onions. This place was amazing. The only negative thing I can say is the sales is saltier than my preference. I got the camorones (shrimp) tostado which comes with lovely slices of avocado. It was so delish I wanted another. I also loved the shrimp Street taco. Oh the cilantro and the onion were wonderful. In fact some of the cilantro abs onions fell off and I put them on the top of my cheese enchilada. The cheese enchilada with chili sauce was good but nothing amazing. read more

We used to love going here, but this is the last time I will ever go to this place. We were never checked on during our whole visit. The waiter answered a phone call while in the middle of taking my order. The waitress I politely asked for a refill on chips and salsa rolled her eyes and the entire encounter never said a word or even smiled once. Naturally I got my food wrong 3 different times and by the time I actually got my food everyone else was done and I didn't even want to eat there anymore. The little bit that I did have a chance to eat was just bland. I really don't understand how our favorite Mexican place has gone this low. This was definitely not a Mexican restaurant, to start off with the queso was nasty the color was off and it seemed worse than the can we order fajitas for 2 and the beef had a ugly texture did not seem like beef and the chicken definitely did not have a good taste the food was not fresh the rice was off white and the beans were worse than from the can. Food is good but customer service is horrible! Walked in at 8:30pm (store closes at 9pm) and they told us we were not allowed to eat at the restaurant because it was too close to closing. We could have easily finished eating in 30 minutes but they already had the salsa bar and etc closed. Who knows how much earlier from closing. read more

This restaurant was as delicious as Tex-mex goes. When you come to a building with 36 a/c units around the perimeter, it sets the tone for what's about to happen inside. Luckily, that kind of ambiance is right up our alley. We haven't had bad food at a restaurant lacking central air and heat. The inside was very cramped, but plenty of places to sit! We chose this restaurant because it was packed at 1:30 on a Monday; also MLK Day. We ordered the Cheesy Chimi. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. The rice was delicious, but I wasn't a fan of the beans. They weren't bad; just personal preference. We also ordered a Strawberry Sopapilla. It was like a Mexican strawberry shortcake. I would definitely eat here again! read more

Very impressed with this gem in Paris, TX. Dropped by for dinner about 6pm tonight while in town. Service was prompt and friendly and a great selection was available on the menu as well as on chalkboard specials. I ordered the Dos Marias Fajitas, which had beef, chicken and grilled shrimp - as well as beans, rice, grilled onions/peppers, cheese, guacamole, pico de gallo, and sour cream. Everything needed for a fantastic feast. The food was well presented, well seasoned, cooked just right and served hot. I also ordered a small queso and topped off the evening with a flan. The flan was very good. The queso could have been cheesier and have a little less corn starch. Was however very flavorful, in regards to the seasoning. Very nice meal in Paris. read more

With the exception of Tacos or burritos, a Texmex restaurant's easiest dish should be enchiladas. I ordered 3 with chili con-carne. Well what I got was a red sauce that was clearly from a can sun carne. It did have a nice skin on it though. The corn tortillas were dry so it was hard to get a good bite without corralling the food up against my knife. The wife ordered a chimichanga that was supposed to have fajita chicken but had what she described as boiled chicken chunks. Zero taste. Did we eat it, yes we did. Will we be back? Not until the step up their game. Maybe if your standards aren't that high with Tex-mex and you don't mind canned sauces and refried beans.
