I have to admit, we choose this cinema because it's the closest to us, but the experience ebbs and flows. My husband and I went recently for a little date night out, and saw 'One Battle After Another.' We learned that going on a Tuesday means discounted movie nights, woohoo! So $7 tickets, plus tax of course. That leaves the rest of your wallet to spend on the concessions. You just can skip having popcorn at the movies! $19 for a medium popcorn + medium soda though... yikes. Overall pros of this cinema: It's very clean, plentiful parking, staff is friendly and helpful, all the mainstream movie options, and seats are very comfy with recliner options! Cons: Food from the restaurant isn't the greatest and service is pretty slow. If you're trying to make it to your movie on time you best show up and order far in advance. It's also tough not to compare to other theaters where you can now order at your seat, etc. We shared a chicken ranch wrap and though it was OK, I likely wouldn't order again. Usually l LOVE Marcus North Shore. Had 1 bad experience recently and Marcus refunded my money. Thought that was a good way to handle. Yesterday I was at Spiderman and there was a group of unruly, loud children. After the movie a Marcus employee gave us a free movie pass. But it can't be used when the film is labeled 'No Passes' - However, the movie we were at was a 'No Passes' movie. A small tweak in how this was handled could go a long way for customer satisfaction. read more

Happily greeted by the person who checked us in as well as the cashier who did our popcorn and soda order. We saw Marty Supreme, good movie, kinda all over with the story, but in the end it all kinda comes together. The theater itself is starting to have that worn down look. Some of the seats looked a bit worn, but nothing serious...yet. I'd go back for another $6.00 movie night, the expensive concession stand I'd like to try but it's very pricey!! read more

This theater is fine. It's been generally empty when I've seen anything there. The recliners are comfortable, but fairly standard these days. The concession service ranges from decent to meh and even ordering in advance doesn't guarantee your food will be ready at the designated time. The pizzas are a hair overdone as a rule. Pricing is stupid high. The parking lot always seems more full than the interior crowd requires. And for the love of god, stop with the house ads from the owner. They're terrible and cringe. Seriously, we're already patrons. Quit doing this just to see your own face on the big screen. read more

I do tend to enjoy the Marcus theaters. Although not perfect. I like that they have reclining chairs and that I can get comfy in a blanket. Seems mostly clean, considering. I never order food or popcorn but I have friends that will, who seem to enjoy it. It's all a rip off in my eyes. But I enjoy the movie theater experience. read more

Very disappointing experience this Sunday evening. Wanted to see Spielberg's 'Disclosure Day' in the cinema instead of waiting for streaming. When going through the ticket taker, he confirmed that it would only be at the North Shore until the next Wednesday. All was good until more than 90 minutes into a 145 minute movie when the screen went dark. No one came into say anything to those of us there in that screen in a 12 screen multiplex. Walked out and told all the screens were affected and had to be restarted one by one. More that 20 minutes later, an employee walked in our screen and told us the movie would not play again that night -- something was down and could not be recovered. Had to prompt that employee to confirm that we would at least be given a refund. Overall, very disappointing -- certainly contributes to a bias to stay home and wait for to come on streaming -- even if paying Apple or Prime rates to rent, cheaper that going to the Marcus and, IMHO, less likely to die in the middle for no disclosed reason. read more

The theater itself is great. However I accidentally lost my earring in the theater, not even 10 minutes after I left the theater I came back to look for it but the doors were locked. An employee was standing in the lobby and kept looking over at me and refused to open the door or even ask what was up. i waited out there for 15 minutes as she continued to acknowledge but ignore my presence until she and her other coworker left. read more

Overall, an okay experience. My subpar review is aimed at corporate and their pricing. How does a medium thin crust pizza cost over $20?! It was okay but not great. My online order also wasn't ready at the pickup time I ordered for either. It wasn't like it was busy - 2 people walked in after me and just got popcorn. However, Josh at the pickup window was extremely nice and checked on my pizza a few times. The layout of the theater seems retro and quaint. The area was clean but I didn't stay for a movie - just there for pizza. Mostly frustrated by the price gouging and the inability to use snack cash towards other offers. A very amature and poorly run operation. Two dud experiences in row. First, a few weeks ago wife and I go to see the Phoenician, bought the tickets on line. Reclinere seats don't work and I tell them. Guy comes, says it's usually because they are not plugged in. They were. Offer other seats but the ones available were not suitable. We stay in seats and they tells me after the film to tell someone in the lobby and maybe they will comp us. Lobby is a like a ghost town on the way out. Lets chalk it up to a fluke Fast forward. It is now a few weeks later,It's Sunday evening, the temperature is 94 degrees and we figure lets catch a movie and it will be cool inside. Buy the tickets on line. Get to the theater and as we are walking in, the cashier asks to see the tickets. Show him the e mail confirmation on my phone. You can feel something is wrong by his body language He tells me the the theater for our film ( Ballerina), has no A/C. Really? You couldn't warn customers before they show up or buy tickets. The manager comes to approve the refund. Cannot give the online service charge back. Have to take that up with corporate and gives me a number to call. My wife and I are new to the area and there are not a lot of theaters but you would think that this chain would bend over backwards for it's clientele. Seemingly not. Another reason to kick back in my own home with my theater system and rent the films I want to see. So I wait a few weeks, but it certainly is a better alternative to this theater. Will I go there again? Not going to hold a grudge against a faceless corporation but probably if its a film I've been waiting for. Will I buy tickets on line. I haven't been to a movie in a long time and I need to start going more. Such a great experience and fun outing. We easily bought tickets online that we had to show at the door, super quick. I think popcorn is a must at movies so we stopped by the concessions before heading in. I was blown away at the big menu they had. I was shocked at how high the prices were. But there was no line and the staff was friendly. Everything seemed clean from the concessions to the hallway to the theater. I love the big recliner chairs, so comfortable! The way the seating is makes you feel like you have space and aren't so close to the people around you. The only thing that wasn't great was the 20+ minutes of bad commercials before the movie started. Going to a movie is a much longer experience than I was expecting but overall a great spot to see one. read more

I was refused service after my boyfriend and I drove 20 minutes just because I didn't have my ID. We explained that we were both 18 and that I didn't have my ID because I didn't drive. I live on the eastside so of course I love my local theaters but they don't always have the mainstream movies. I saw my first movie at this theater last last night. I love that you can buy your tickets online and select your seats in advance. So much better than hoping to get the seats you want and instead sitting in the front row breaking your neck. It's not super cool when you get to said reserved seats and two teenagers are sitting in them. It makes for an awkward moment but they moved and we had no issues. Ok, I LOVE the seats they have at this place! The Ultra Screen has heated leather recliners and the rest of the theater has the same with no heat. It was the most comfortable movie theater viewing experience I've had. And the tickets are only $5 on Tuesdays, not bad at all. If you enroll in their free rewards program you also get a free small popcorn on Tuesdays (they'll give you more than one if you come back) and free refills on sodas. But honestly you can do that no matter what because no one is patrolling the soda machines. I didn't experience and issues with people chatting during the movie, but a lot of people were on their phones. This is my new favorite/affordable place to see movies! read more

We went on a Saturday evening to catch a newly released movie. It was my first experience at this Marcus location. The good: the seats in the ultra screen theater were so comfortable. They reclined to the perfect amount and had cup holders for each person. I thoroughly enjoyed my 3 hour movie in those chairs. The staff working there were so friendly, especially the ticket attendant. I didn't catch his name, but he was made conversation with everyone and welcomed us into the theater. Great employee. The bad: overall, the facility felt cramped and dirty. We arrived early and were waiting for other friends to arrive, so we sat on the couches in the lobby. There was popcorn, used napkins, etc all over the couches. The carpet looked like it had been some time since someone had vacuumed since there was garbage and food on the ground. Hopefully, they will change some of their standards to ensure a clean facility for all of their customers! read more

Trying to be old school fancy pants theatre. 3.5 stars Cost to worth it rating: 2.5 (bit higher prices) Return worthiness: sure Highlights: - Going for a cultured old time theme: live music in the lobby, staff in fancy tuxes, big old Hollywood marquee sign, etc. A girl with a violin was playing when we were there and also saw ads for an opening for a piano player. A bit forced, but at least they're making an effort to create a nice place people would want to come out to for a good time at the movies in a time when DVDs seem like the more common option for most. - Attached pizza restaurant: kind of a novel idea and convenient for date nights - Special over 21 seating: you can have adult beverages and access to a bar during the movie which is fun Midlights: - Ultraseating: drinks are fun but whether a big comfy seat it's worth the extra fee, I'm not so sure Lowlights: - Reserved seating: while it's a nice idea for big blockbuster opening nights to not fight for a decent seat or risk your party getting split up, the rest of the time it's just seems silly for a row to be taken up - No Up in 3d when we went :-( While it was trippy seeing their grand attempt to fancify the place, it's a welcome change to some old run-downed theatres these days. read more

North Shore is a smaller mega-plex theater (ironic, no?) that's pretty much no different than the other Marcus venues around town. There's a Zaffiros attached if you care about middling-quality pizza. There's overpriced popcorn and sullen teenaged employees. What does make this theater a little different is that they assign seats - so when you buy your tickets you pick specific seats. That's a nice option if you're headed to a crowded showing as you can grab those aisle seats ahead of time. There's also an UltraScreen - not sure what that's all about as we just saw a regular screening. I guess it's like a really good movie screen but more...ultra? I also hear rumors that some of the showings are KID FREE. That's something I can really get behind. read more

This movie theater takes the cake in ALL of SE Wisconsin! Thank god I finally found a movie theater in the area that is so nice and comfortable to be at. The facility is SPOTLESS and the staff is very welcoming. This is 5 star movie watching people!! The dream loungers... let's just say it has changed the way I want to watch movies. Never in my life have I been to a nicer movie theater. This was simply mind blowing. Why have I never experienced the luxurious, extra large, leather reclining seats with miles of legroom? Why have I never experienced buying and picking specific seats from a kiosk? Why are the prices less than an average movie theater in my hometown while offering tons of amenities? Northshore is a clean and comfortable theater. I didn't really like that we had to choose our seats before going in, but maybe this is the future and I just have to get with it. The worker was understanding when I asked about moving seats - just do it after the film has started. We ended up not needing to because there weren't many people there, so it was all good. I would come here if they're showing the movie I want to see at the time I want to see it. Plus, Spider works here and he's cool. read more

I like the theater because I check on films, order tickets on line, get through quick ticket kiosks, and find comfortable seats easily. I appreciate the convenience and the availability of a bite to eat before or after a film as well. On the downside, I do think the seating is confusing and people spend way too much time trying to figure it out. I just grab a seat and wait to be asked to move if necessary. Before anyone poops their pants over my two star review, strap yourselves in and read on: Working for the Marcus corporation was my third job. I started in the very early 2000s at this very location, many renovations before it looked the way it does now. I also worked for another Marcus theatre while in college; a dramatic difference in location, clientele, and atmosphere. Different for the worse, mind you. Fast-forward to the present: I took a hiatus from spending outrageous amounts of money to see movies in the theatre and started renting or buying films upon their DVD/Bluray release until very recently. I've been quite selective in my theatre experiences, however, and the main reason for that is the dramatic shift in clientele at THIS location. Like the shift from where it used to be to my experience 'south of the border', this shift has been for the worse. Let's be really real for a minute here: North Shore Theatre is in the NORTH SHORE; It's on, what I would consider, the rich side of Mequon. The theatre is gorgeous and apparently it's going through MORE renovations currently, yet somehow management can't maintain the same sense of class the building has or transition the visual appeal to the actual movie experience because time and again, they do nothing about obnoxious customers who ruin other people'a experience. Chief example: I saw X-Men Apocalypse at night the weekend it was released; either a late 7 PM or 9~PM show. A packed theatre...that they let a belligerent lady in with 3-4 incredibly young kids, one of whom was an inconsolable INFANT. Picture baby on a plane, friends. Ushers came in on either side, per standard practice, and did nothing but observe the horror of a theatre completely distracted from the movie by this selfish woman and her screaming baby. Comments were shouted back and fourth including, "take your baby home!" And, "I PAID my tickets!" Too, too long later (we're talking 45 min into the movie by this point), they finally pull the family out of the movie to the sound of roaring applause by the rest of the audience. Absolutely unreal. By that point, the magic of being lost in a film was, well, lost. Having worked at this establishment, it chaps my ass beyond belief to say that I can certainly guarantee they offered a refund as well as comp tickets for the 'inconvenience'. John Wick 2 - sold out theatre on Valentine's Day: the movie completely disrupted by talkers, inconsiderate pricks, throughout the theatre including a guy who clearly thought he's a comedian and, quite literally, shouted commentary through the movie. Wonder Woman this past weekend was the last straw. This theatre is beautiful; it's renovations amazing! But trying to deal with the other movie-goers has become horrendously worse than what it was like at the dump of a Marcus theatre i worked at in Elgin, IL. I'm finding a different theatre to see any new releases here on out. (The 'extra' star is for nostalgia of past coworkers and experiences and consistent popcorn.) read more

Usually my favorite theater but I entered the theater today for a 1:10 movie and nothing was running on the screen. Started calling at 1:11 hitting 1 for the box office repeatedly but no one picked up. Someone walked back and told Spider so previews finally started at 1:19. I just wish there was someway to notify staff that there is a problem. They seem very understaffed today. read more

All the seats are loungers! I highly recommend this theater, though it is on the pricey side it may be worth it. The most expensive screen, Ultrascreen, is not worth the money unless the heated seats and two story set up is extremely important for you. If you order food from the restaurant (either at the Zaffiro's express at the vending stand or from the hostess inside the restaurant) they will bring the food to your seat. Concessions, like most theaters, is on the pricey side but quality. This is the best movie theater in the area hands down. read more

I've been to this theater twice and there's just something special about visiting a Marcus Theater. It's a treat and a gift all wrapped up into one. The difference? The hospitality that the hotelier generously layers into all of the businesses it owns and operates. Here you find ticket takers and popcorn servers who care. They pay attention to the small details, over managing them so your experience is overwhelmingly positive. The facility is spotless, well lit and clean. One of my friends recently got a meal from the adjacent Zaffiro's Pizza. His bacon grilled cheese sandwich and fries served in a convenient theater tray made all of us hungry and we looked at it longingly. A few had drinks, which is also a nice touch. I contentedly enjoyed my popcorn and soda, which was well presented. I enjoyed my new reclining seat and took note of the luxury recliners that I will have to try next time. This is a nice theater! It's clean and has a classy feel. The seating is comfortable and very spacious. When we were waiting for the show to start, it was so so hot. Maybe they spike up the heat to encourage beverage purchases? For whatever reason, it was not very comfortable, but it did eventually cool off. I always think movie tickets are too expensive, and that continues to be the case here, but just gotta grin and bear it. read more

I grew up on the North Side, so this was pretty much the only option. I live on the East Side now, so if I want to see more mainstream movies, I have to trek to the burbs and this is usually our choice, but frankly, I go somewhat begrudgingly. There are just usually SOOO many teenagers milling around and in every movie and they come in groups of 20 and they have to sit together and then the talk to all 20 people throughout the movie and climb over each other and are up and down and on their cells. I say this as a North Shore kid - it's just so very North Shore of them. They're spoiled and self-centered and don't care if they are bothering anyone else. So that means if I want to see a movie I think teenagers will also see - I won't go on opening weekend. It's usually fine if you wait a week or so. They started making you choose your seat, but in the same vein as above, I've yet to find people actually sitting in their chosen seat, which is frustrating. And just because I don't think I've yet sounded old and cranky enough, the movies here always feel exceptionally loud - like uncomfortably loud. But it's clean, the employees are nice, there is a lot of parking and the seats are comfy. read more

Used to be good but now it just smells like feet. They upgraded all the chairs to loungers but never replaced the carpeting so there is a stank everywhere. The theater is also damp and humid all the time, so that likely isn't helping. Add that to the bathrooms that are never clean and the old stale popcorn and you have a less than stellar experience. I love this theater. When you stay in the metro milwaukee area you tend to appreciate these outlying theaters much more because of the order and cleanliness. The theater is the same size as your standard theater. Its always clean the employees are always nice. I always order a thin crust pizza from the restaurant area. Ive never encountered any rowdy kids or anything like that although i have at other Marcus cinemas. The ultra screen is cool. My only problem with this theater is that they dont play off the movies that i would like to see. For instance, Kevin Hart's comedy was play around the 4th of July and its not showing there. That's one of the things that makes you go hmmm..... Kevin Hart's movie is huge...... i mean huge at the box office and not showing here. I'll keep my conspiracy to myself people. Anyway take the kids, the in laws, the wife or date and you should have a nice night out...no drama...just pretend your in the theater alone and you should be fine. read more

This is my go to movie theater. I'm not sure if I could even go to a theater without loungey chairs anymore because I'm so spoiled by the chairs here. I mean you can recline, put your feet up and enjoy a movie almost like you're at home. The theaters are mostly clean, just the typical popcorn on the floor. I have been a customer of this theater complex for years. Now that they have added the dream lounger seats, management has decided to crank up the volume in the theaters. It is so LOUD that I had to wear earplugs. I could still hear the dialogue. I don't want to lose my hearing!! I did ask a manager to turn it down, but I didn't Notice any difference. There isn't one person who should be sitting in the theater with the sound cranked up that high. I hope someone in management does something ASAP. read more

I just like this theater, I guess others do too because I'm starting to see more people here more often than not. To be fair, you can't keep fresh Mojitos or some specialty drink made in front of you in the lobby, upstairs lounge, a pizza place and another bar to yourself! In addition to that, chairs are leather loungers (Lazy Boys) with plenty of room that move to put you feet up (if you desire) and a great surround sound a secret to keep you coming back for more . My first experience with assigned seating at a theater - It wasn't busy, so I don't think it mattered that much, but I could see it being a great idea for opening weekend of a big blockbuster. As far as movie theaters go, this one's better than a lot of them. I like that you can pick your seats and see where other people are already sitting. Of course there's nothing stopping people from moving around, and moving their seats to right in front of or next to yours in a largely empty theater...What's with people that do that??? But at least there's less of a chance for that to happen with reserved seats. I've sat in their "VIP" or whatever section in the main theater once. Comfy. I remember we also got a concession credit with the tickets that made up for the price difference, so it worked out well. The $5 Tuesdays are fantastic and there's few restrictions on which shows you can see. We also got free popcorn just for having their rewards program. I showed it on my phone and the guy asked if we'd like one or two popcorns, since there were two of us. Wasn't expecting that at all! Normally they try and give out the least amount of free stuff possible, so it was a nice gesture. Sodas are also self serve and there's a big selection. It's always been clean and relatively comfortable. Not worn down looking or ratty, and the clientele generally seems respectful of other patrons. read more

The theater looks nice, the seats are very comfortable. I did not notice any of the mess other reviewers have mentioned. In fact there were 3 staff members waiting outside the doors with brooms as we exited. We went to an 11:05 show in theater 8. I noticed while walking to the theater that the hallway felt warm and humid. It's very hot/humid today so while this wasn't ideal I shrugged it off until we entered the closed theater. It was worse inside, hotter with higher humidity and it smelled bad. The smell is definitely mildew, it smells like a basement that's been cleaned, but not very well. We went to a movie because it's so hot and humid. Sweating in a stinky theater was really the opposite of what we had in mind. We did ask them turn the ac up, they did but it never really got comfortable in the theater. read more
