I have been going to Marechiaro's for basically my entire life. Their food is absolutely spectacular. What I am disappointed about is the service; The woman who waited on us got our order wrong (which is fine, it happens) but then argued with my mom about what we ordered and quite frankly, was very rude. Something that also turned me off a bit was our waitress was not wearing a name tag so I could not catch her name. I would give 3 stars but they did make up for it by giving us a free personal pan pizza. I was introduced to Marechario's by friends 15+ years ago. It is my go-to spot weekly and on occasion twice weekly. Man the food and service is great at this place! I love the pizza (try the white pizza), baked meatball special (meatballs in a baking dish with sauce, topped with cheese-- yum!), raviolis, lentil soup (mix it half and half with minestrone) and everything else! This is THE best place in the world to get Itailan food. Pat and Janice and Anna are the nicest people in the world. They remember your name they ask about your family. Everytime I come home to visit my parents they recognize me and make me feel at home. The pizza is awesome, my mom loves the salsa rosa sauce on her pasta. My parents love the works but I always get pepperoni, or if I am off my diet I get chesse bread and meat sauce to go. I would never get pizza anywhere else in San Diego. I live in east bay San Francisco and dread ordering pizza because I think about Marechiaro's pizza. Cute place, awesome customer service! read more

I'm absolutely addicted to their pizza! Plain ole pepperoni will change the way you see any other pizza. We typically pick up a pizza every couple of weeks. But we never dine in anymore, sometimes their customer service isn't the best. Even on the phone you can get some horrible service so it's best to interact with them as little as possible. Also I wouldn't venture too far outside of pizza. Never ever ever get their stuffed pastas. The waitress informed me that they buy them frozen one rare dine in trip. Another annoying thing is their baked dishes don't come with cheese on them. That's a first for me. Lasagna or baked ziti with no cheese? Very odd!! read more

Customer Service is great. So far I have tried: *Veggie Lasagna -- awesome sauce, but needs more veggies less mozerella cheese. would order again and request easy mozerella? *Fettucini Alfredo - awesome sauce again, not too rich so I was almost able to finish it. would definetly order again, but not often as the dish must have half a stick of butter. *Garlic Bread - I think it's on white or french bread rolls with sesame seeds in the crust. It's made with fresh garlic and it's best when you have sauce on your entree to dip it in. *Caeser Salad - Husband likes it, I hate it. All I taste is garlic in the dressing. Your breath with be awful after eating it. *Greek Salad - Awesome, I always choose this one. I am kinda skeptical that it may just be italian dressing with the toppings being what makes it a greek salad. I need to ask, because I always pay the $2 upgrade fee to get it with my entreee instead of the normally included garden salad. *Spaghetti Marinara with added sauteed mushrooms. -- Excellent, I love their sauce and they didn't skimp on the mushrooms. Parking lot is small... :P Keep in mind that they seem to always offer the Caesar and Greek Salads with entrees, but don't mention they cost extra. It says it on the menu though. They have lunch specials that are worth checking out too, not too much variety, but it is a little cheaper than dinner prices. read more

Came in with a large group after a wedding rehearsal. It was pretty packed! The antipasto was very good..great dressing. The pizza was amazing! Thin slices, loaded with ingredients and the sauce was delicious. You didn't see any pool of leftover oil on the empty pizza dishes! I'll definitely come back when I'm in town. Downside was the poor waitress who had to deal with our big party as well as another huge party... it took a while to get us served, so management should had staff better. Marechiaro's is the beat Italian food I have ever experienced. Pat, the owner, grew up in Little Italy and, Wow, does he know Italian. I have had the good fortune to spend five weeks in Sicly and enjoy some of the best food on the planet. Everything is cooked fresh and vine ripened. I've been dining at Marechiaro's since 1978. I have always had great food and great service. I love their calamari, pastrami sandwiches, lasagne, cheese ravioli, lentil soup, antipasto salad, homemade sausage and their white pizza. Really, I love just about everything on their menu. My husband and two sons also love the food here too! My husband is Italian descent, when I'm not cooking Italian food at home this is where we come to eat! Our sons are in their 20s now & they always want to come here when they're in town. They have a nice banquet room for parties. We had our older son's Confirmation party here. The staff here is one of the more friendly, customer service oriented staffs I've met in any restaurant in San Diego. In addition to making you feel like family once you walk through the door, they are extremely attentive to your requests. This has to be one of THE BEST Italian restaurants in San Diego without a doubt. My entire family travels 30+ minutes to enjoy the amazing food, great service and friendly staff. Have not been to this one in a few years now and for reason Last visit 3 years ago dinner was ok no better than anyone elses in town and had left overs. We got to the car in the parking lot, my wife went back in to retrieve the bag and they had thrwon it away, we were not gone 3 minutes. Asked for the Manager they said her wasnt in. When I got home they put him on, he told me I shold have something at the restaurant, no I am sorry for this apology just why I didnt ask for him we have not been back since The one on Old Hwy 80 in run by a different brother, on purpose left my food and they came out the door with it. Usually very good. This time too much salt on everything. Ordered linguini with clams dinner. Salad with Italian dressing, dressing was way too salty, ruined the crisp fresh greens. Linguini perfectly cooked, lots of clams and garlic, then messed up with a shaker full of salt. What gives? Wife had sausage and peppers, sausage was overcooked and tasteless again too much salt. Hide the stuff. As always service was attentive and excellent. No doubt I will go back, love this place. read more

We were just passing through looking for a good place to eat and with the help of yelp reviews we found this gem of a restaurant. It was decorated very nicely with different paintings in each booth you sit in and the food was spectacular!!! The chicken Marsala was very tasty and the tiramisu was the best!!! Love it. read more

Marechiaros has always been one of my favorite Italian restaurants. I haven't been here in a long time and came here the other day with my friend and her daughter and it was great. Our waitress was very sweet and when my friend's daughter ordered a lemonade it came with a Disney princess straw in it. We ordered a pepperoni and mushroom pizza and a half order of lasagna and half order of cheese ravioli, which came with garlic bread and salad. Everything was delicious. Oh and they have some of the best ranch dressing I've ever had. read more

I grew up going to Marechiaro's with my family. This is a great little restaurant...even better since the expanded into what use to be a bar next door and added more seating. It can get pretty crowded on the weekends. Their food is good and the prices reasonable. We usually get a pepperoni and sausage pizza and torpedo. So Yummy! read more

I came here last night with my boyfriend and a few other friends after the Chargers game since we were hungry and a bit depressed after the horrible beating from the Raiders ;-( This place doesn't look like much from the outside or inside, but the great service and food make up for it. I think that I can say for the first time in my life I turned down pizza because I was really excited to try their pasta. I ordered the portabello mushroom ravioli in a creamy Alfredo sauce...yummy! The meatball sandwich looked good too, and the rigatoni with chicken, broccoli, and an Alfredo sauce was nice surprise. I really want to go back soon either for take out or dine in so that I can get my hands on one of those white pizza's. Thanks Marechiaros for savaging our night with a good meal. read more

Not as good as I thought it was going to be from the other reviews. The pizza was not that great, especially if you have made your own pizza or have experience a really good pizza in your lifetime (Try: Chicago pizza company, Santee). Maybe I went in with high hopes, but overall it was just an okay dinning experience. The staff was nice though and knowledgeable, so they at least get three stars for that, we will return to the restaurant to try some of the other platters, but so far it is not on the top of my list. read more

This was our go to place for some time but have not been in a few years. Unfortunately, the food really is not nearly as good as we remembered. Out party had two chicken dishes: Chicken marsala and Chicken piccata. There was very little seasoning and meat was very tough. The calamari was okay, but again no seasoning. The garlic bread too toasted to eat but was more plentiful than we remember. The minestrone soup was actually a plate of vegetables with a little broth at the bottom. The greek salad was really the highlight of the meal as they have an excellent salad dressing. And the service was really nothing to write home about and we had arrived early. All in all, this was not even close to what it used to be. We will be in search of a new Italian place. read more

I was totally blown away by the service here! Very attentive in that not so bothersome way where they're in your face every 5 minutes. The food was very authentic to the Italian food you'd find in the Northeast. Like New England style pizza or even the kind you'd find in New York. We ordered a Greek salad to go with it and it was extremely fresh. I seriously have never raved about a salad before, the ratio of ingredients was just right. Not too much or too little of one thing. Cause I hate when the salad is drowning or dry or they give you all of 2 olives you have to dig for to find. The ambience and decor is very quaint rustic and romantic, you'd score a lot points for taking a date there and you could even watch football on one of flat screens of you got bored. The name is impossible to remember how to spell or even say, but just say the "italian place on 2nd" and everyone in the east county knows what you're talking about.
