Amazing food!! Was there for Lunch and later on decided to try it out for dinner. During lunch had some chilaquiles. Since they didn't have appetizers, the server customized a portobello quesadilla. Service was on point and the place was busy. Great ambiance. When I came back for Dinner, it was a different story. Service was so so.. even though there were only two tables in the dining room. Ordered several courses(lots of apps, salads, entree, & dessert). Was there to try out a lot of food. Food was amazing. The filet was cooked perfect (med rare), and was able to cut it with a fork. The timing of the food was off, didn't care but could have had both salads before the hot appetizers. Salads were fresh! No wilted greens or any of that crap. Ambiance was lacking.. manager and staff were eating in the dining room while shooting the shit. I can care less, but when it affects the service and timing of food, it's ridiculous. Ambience was very romantic, with light saxophone melody covers of pop songs (at least the night we went). Service was top notch. Our server Pedro had the utmost patience, explaining half the menu to us (as they had no English menu and we didn't speak or read Spanish). He provided perfect recommendations on food and drinks and has a good idea of how much was too much food (helped us avoid going overboard). Helped us figure out how to get to the Sentri lane afterwards (got super lost during my last trip). Also excellent attention to detail (example: mom wanted hot water, he provides a mug of hot water and a separate spouted mug of even hotter water so she could adjust accordingly). Food: beef tongue and bone marrow taco for $5. Beef tongue mushroom on chips for $10. Grilled chicken and flank steak for $20. Cocktail for $5. We were both stuffed and had a small snack to take home. So as many reviews state, they offer you a quesadilla to start with. I asked if it cost extra and was told yes. We passed. Then they come around with a bread saying they'd like to "offer" you some bread. It looked good so we each had one. $1.25 each USD We ordered mimosas which were ok but very juice heavy. We both had the house eggs, which came with a choice of protein, scrambled eggs, a tamale and a tiny serving of beans. The overall portion was fine, but the beans were the best part and the smallest portion. The tamale was ok. The eggs come with a salsa on top, which had I known I'd have ordered on the side. The meat I chose was what our server recommended. It was a very thin, long cut that was overcooked and salty. Overall the food was...ok. Not worth the price. And I say this as someone who eats at a lot of the more "local" places. It was upscale presentation but... Paid almost $100 USD for 5 mimosas, 2 plates of steak and eggs and some bread plus tip. You can go down the street and get some amazing chilaquiles for $6-7 a pop with better steak. Very classy establishment, but allows for casual dress attire--the staff are incredibly friendly and our waitress went above and beyond to make sure we were well taken care of. The menu is in Spanish, and sadly, we are not fluent so she made excellent recommendations based on what we like. They offer complimentary pastries and baked goods as soon as you sit down--they are fresh and delicious! We started with quesadillas and they were outstanding. Best place I've had breakfast in Tijuana and by a lot. Small fruit plate before the main course is awesome. My mushroom/chicharron omelette was insanely good. The flavors mixed very well and were very rich in flavor. My son had a mixed seafood omelette which I did take a bite of was also delicious. My wife had the lengua plate and also very rich in flavor. Great service and delicious food. My husband and I had breakfast here. We got our coffee and were offered fresh made Mexican sweet bread and a small fruit salad while we waited for our food. We both ordered omelettes- mine was stuffed with chicharrón and my husband asked for chicharrón and machaca. Enjoyed our experience amidst the rather chaotic Tijuana. We got a little adventurous and drove from San Diego just to have a nice Mexican meal and landed in Marenca. This is located in Zona Rio which is supposed to be the safer, better region of Tijuana. While the surrounding areas were crowded as the rest of the city, there was an exclusive parking available for the restaurant customers. You wouldn't know the relief of finding the exclusive parking unless you're there. It was like an oasis in the middle of a desert. The staff at this place was extremely pleasant and customer focused. Unlike most restaurants in USA, you were warmly welcomed and appreciated as customers by every single employee including the parking attendant. There was only one server, Alejandro who knew English and I appreciate how hard he tried to explain us the menu so we could order food that we like. All other servers do not speak English but that was no barrier to provide exemplary service from start to end. I was surprised to find that they serve breakfast until 2pm so I missed having lunch and had authentic Mexican breakfast instead. The food was very delicious and I would certainly choose this as the place to eat if you either live in Tijuana or are traveling. Although this is was a fine dining restaurant, it cost me $72 including a 20% gratuity for a family of four and we ate a lot! I'm certain it would cost much much more in USA to visit a Mexican fine dining restaurant. Without a doubt, I'd revisit if I'm in Tijuana again. read more

Prices do not match itemized receipts they increased the price to double on our itemized receipt and they charged us for 5 breads even though we only grabbed one. We did not notice any of this when we were paying and once we paid she asked for what percentage of tip and we stated 15% but she gave herself 25%. We called them out on it and they stated they can't do anything about it they tried giving us pesos back that didn't even amount to what they owed us. Food was not good at all either. The veggie (calabasa y spinach) soup was amazing. I ordered the stuffed chicken ( pechuga rellena) but the parilla ( flap meat and sausage) was delicious. Really great Mexican fusion restaurant, featuring delicious meals and fast, friendly service located in the Rio Plaza Shopping district, by the food mall. The restaurant itself is a modern looking building with large space and features original cocktails and amazing menu, we came here for Sunday brunch. Unfortunately, they do not their lobster for brunch, only with the lunch menu or dinner menu after 2:30pm. However, the brunch menu has more than enough to make us happy. The menu has a variety of traditional and innovative deconstructed Mexican dishes, including omeletes, chilaquiles (Mexican dish with meat, chile, salsa, cheese, and tortilla strips), pancakes and enchiladas and tacos. I got the shredded beef omelette (Trincheras) and it was very tasty. We also ordered the salmon omelette, seafood omelette and a chilaquiles all which were made perfectly and delicious. They also provide free papaya fruit appetizer and freshly squeeze juices which is nice. We were very impressed with this restaurant and definitely want to come back for the lobster dish. Service is friendly and fast and the restaurant was full with a 20 minute wait, but there are coffee shops and stores nearby to walk around in. Price may be a little higher than the average Mexican restaurant in Tijuana, but for Los Angelinos, expect to spend about half of what you'd normally pay, maybe more.
