Now once again, I'm being billed for something separate. Save yourself the frustration and find a different provider.

My orthopedist referred me to this office. I am the first to admit, I am picky. But I thought Dr. Johnson would be perfect. I had a consultation and felt so comfortable, I immediately set up an appointment for a genicular nerve block procedure. The appointment was set for 3 weeks out. I inquired about insurance coverage before I left and I was told I was totally covered and that the procedure was at the West Hills Surgery Center. I followed up each week to make sure that everything was in order and each time (at least 3) I was told I am all set. Then, on the Thursday prior to the procedure I get a call stating that my insurance does not cover the surgery center, which is not at West Hills Surgery Center, but in Dr. Johnson's regular office. Additionally, there is a seperate Anesthesia charge. After stating that I had called several times and going back and forth with multiple phone calls, they finally said if I would see a different doctor (in their practice), he could do the procedure at a clinic that is covered by my insurance, but he only goes the once a month and I would not meet him the day of the procedure. Why wasn't I told this 3 weeks prior? The doctor who referred me told me they do not "up charge" but they obviously do! I asked if the doctor or office manager would call me to discuss the very poor office conmmunication, noone ever called. Now after reading other reviews here and online I see I am not the only one who experienced this situation. It's a shame because if they had told me up front that the surgery center was out of network, I probably would have gone ahead since I liked the doctor, but after feeling like a bait and switch situation, I felt that I could not trust the business.

This Dr asserted it "had" to be adenomyosis, however, my MRI said differently. I had to beg to have my hormones checked. He refused to put in orders to check my blood counts because "he doesn't handle anemia." He originally wanted to just perform a biopsy in his office with absolutely no heads up at all! When I made it abundantly clear I was not comfortable with this, he said that the only way to treat my irregular periods would be a "surgery" (he did not specify exactly what kind of surgery which fueled my anxiety even more). Just loosely explained it in a condescending way. If he just told me the name of the procedure, that would have been helpful. But of course not. I was treated like I was an idiot, and crazy. Remarks were also made about my age and "ovarian health" without proper testing to refute his claims. And just to test things out because he insisted I was having "anovulatory cycles," I tested my progesterone several times over the last week and a half in my luteal phase, as well as tested my LH levels mid cycle. All were indicative of ovulation, at least for this cycle. And I just had a baby a year ago... I did just turn 40 but I did not appreciate this overgeneralization simply due to my age and without a thorough work up of tests to at least back it up! Instead I had to pay out of pocket for my own bloodwork for a more thorough investigation. Something I don't think I should have had to do! Additionally, I had to do my own research. I asked lot of questions during my visits which appeared to annoy him and he was so deadset on making statements without asking questions and ordering tests, especially another MRI in my case, and something I found to be a red flag I came to his office twice in one week because I was so concerned about symptoms I having...and Veronica at the front desk so kindly alleged that I "put pressure" on her "so many times" to put in the authorization when I asked once! To add insult to injury, she called me over a week later putting pressure on me to commit to a date for the surgery and I said I have to make arrangements w taking time off work and childcare arrangements so I can't...to which she proceeded to raise her voice at me accusing me of "pressuring" her the week prior. WTF? And am I really going to allow anyone to perform any kind of procedure on me when she feels comfortable copping an attitude like that?! Absolutely not! I can only imagine the terrible things this Dr, who snapped at me last I saw him to ask about a medication, went and said behind my back. Not to mention, a warm office with Frank Sinatra blasting just gives horror movie vibes. No thank you.

While every member of the ICU staff treated my brother with compassion, professionalism, and dignity, I would like to especially thank nurses Eric, Randy, and Olga, ICU physician Dr. Kakal, social worker Heather, and the entire ICU team for the exceptional care they provided throughout his 44-day ICU stay. Each person brought something unique to our family's experience. Olga was a source of comfort and reassurance whenever I felt overwhelmed and needed guidance. Eric showed extraordinary patience and gentleness with my brother, even on the most difficult days. No matter how challenging the situation became, he treated him with kindness and respect. Randy had a special way of connecting with my brother and earning his trust. When my brother wasn't listening to the rest of us, Randy somehow always knew how to reach him. Heather, our social worker, helped guide our family through difficult decisions and conversations with compassion and professionalism. Her support during an incredibly challenging time was deeply appreciated. Beyond providing excellent medical care, these individuals supported our family through an incredibly difficult journey. They reminded us that healthcare is not just about medicine, it is also about humanity. I would also like to recognize the volunteers at the visitor check-in desk on the first floor. Even though they noticed my nose looked crooked all of a sudden, I denied it out of fear, because I was afraid of doctors/hospitals at the time. I couldn't breathe well out of my right nostril. A few years later I started to notice the change in my face due to this unaddressed fracture. I hated how I looked in the mirror and I didn't feel like myself. In my late teens I went to my primary doc, told them I think I broke my nose, and explained the injury. The doctor took a look at me and said my nose was completely normal, didn't address the obstructed right nostril, and said my nose just changed because of puberty and it was my underlying genetics that made me look that way. I was disappointed but accepted what they said because they were an MD, and I didn't want to undergo an unnecessary procedure. Fast forward many years and I just couldn't shake the feeling that something was not right. I stumbled upon a picture of myself before the injury and that was the final straw that led me to seek a second opinion. I searched online for different docs and wanted to find someone who specialized in this form of reconstruction and cosmetic procedure. Long story short, I found Dr. Aminpour. The second he walked into the examination room, without even reading my file, he took one look at me and said "You broke your nose." I cannot emphasize enough how relieving this was for me. I felt like I was crazy for seeing something wrong when my primary doc told me there wasn't. Dr. Aminpour then discovered my septum was deviated through the physical exam, because it was obvious to him that I wasn't passing much air through the right nostril. I was very nervous on surgery day but he did a great job of reassuring me and easing my nerves. I can't tell you how much this procedure changed my life for the better. I got a combo septo/rhinoplasty. After I was cleared to take the bandages off, I left my house to run errands and saw my reflection in a car window. And for the first time in years, I loved what I saw. I felt like MYSELF. Finally my outward appearance matched what I felt on the inside. I asked Dr. Aminpour to make my nose look as similar as possible to what it was before my injury and he did so wonderfully. I stated my concerns about having a nose that had too much of a upturned swoop and a tip that was too thin/pointy. He reassured me that he wouldn't create that look and left the tip alone. The result is natural-looking AND... Taking a real full inhale for the first time in 2 decades made me realize what I was missing for so long. I no longer have to breathe through my mouth when exerting myself, and it's even improved my amateur signing voice, haha. THANK YOU DR. AMINPOUR FOR CHANGING MY LIFE!!!

The next day I called the office manager to make sure that what he told me was correct and I did not misunderstand him. She then explained the same exact thing he told me. In other words I need to find another ENT that practices what a ENT does, help patients with chronic sinus issues. I was very fortunate to find another office that has been wonderful and caring. Their office is incredible and they also have the ability to do full sinus exrays and spent a great deal of time with me showing me why I have these issues and have scheduled me for a balloon procedure which was very obvious from the x rays. Dr. Cohen is a great Doctor, but his new office practice is quite unusual.
