This park has come a long way. It is very clean and nice and has a lot of activities for kids. 10/10

Beautiful well maintained playground with wonderful climbing structures shaped like animals! They also have a sand play area and a climbing wall! Our 4 year old daughter had a blast. The only negative was the park bathroom was nasty and had signs of homeless.

I've only been here a handful of times. But came here recently for one of the free Super Bowl free concerts. It has hosted events for major sporting in the past. Margaret T. Hance Park is a 32-acre park named in honor of the city's first female mayor. It's located in Downtown Phoenix. It is home to the Japanese Friendship Garden, Irish Cultural Center, Burton Barr Phoenix Library and the Phoenix Center for the Arts. It's a nice park, but restrooms and drinking fountains could use an upgrade. Parking in this area can be a real pain during some of the bigger events.

The new children's play area at Hance Park is now done and is fabulous. There are large animal sculptures with hidden climbing ropes inside, and owl slide, a beginner rock climb area and soft wood chip covered ground - safe to fall down on plus dozens of new trees, native succulents, grasses and ocotillos. An elevated walkway from east to west provides a nice view of the surrounding area and the picnic areas have also been modernized with several shade structures installed. It has only been open one week as of this review, go be one of the first to check it out. Fundraising is in process to continue upgrading the central and eastern portion of the park, let's hope those areas turn out as nice as the play area.

This park is very nice and I would like to see what it looks like when it's complete. There are very cool and unique play structures. The sand box is large and covered. The bathrooms were disgusting. My 3 year old ever said she'd wait until we got home. Hope they update them with all the other upgrades this park has had

Park centrally located just north of downtown Phoenix. The Phoenix main library is adjacent to the park. It looks to be well maintained. I do have an issue with the lack of water fountains(I only found one working one). Recommended.

Family was absolutely soaked on a completely paved area with a bench.... After moving from the grass when anticipating sprinklers.

Big wtf?! Seriously, whomever controls the timer of the sprinkler system here is an absolute dunce. Came here with my family on Saturday at noon... and were soaked on a completely paved area by the sprinklers. Baby, wife, dog, and all. Name a park that has sprinklers running on a beautiful Saturday at noon?!? Arizona is full of incompetence. Tell the contractors.... "Duuurrrr people are in the park at prime hours... don't run the sprinkler to late or too early." Absolute idiots

Local food trucks during the AZ Fall Fest; great pupusas from the Salvadoreño family owned restaurant.

I've been to the Irish Festival, Chinese Festival, and now the AZ Fall Festival which all took place here and I just love how they utilize the large space. When the park is used for festivals it's very clean and organized but outside of the festivals I wouldn't say I'd visit the park. I would say if a big event is happening here, don't be afraid to come. However, maybe don't visit this park alone, at night?

Ask the Community - Margaret T Hance Park

What's the status on the grass? This used to be the nicest grassy park I knew of in Phoenix, but it's been looking rough the last few times I've gone. Anyone have insight on this?

It's so nice now! Last time I went, there were people sprawled out enjoying picnics and sunshine like it was Central Park :)

I'd like to bring a friend in a wheelchair. Is this park paved?

Yes. There are nice paved areas

Is this a good place to run?

Yes, especially if you take the nice paved loop around the perimeter of the park. Not sure of the distance, but it's probably close to .25 mile, one time around.

The garden is well maintained and organized, quiet place for give yourself quiet time and meditation. The garden is not that big place to walk around, but it's definitely worth it if you feel like need to escape and looking for nature therapy--this is the one! Give yourself more time to sit back and enjoy the greenery. The staff is super friendly and welcoming! I will definitely come back again soon.

But personally, I just don't see it being worth the price of $14 a person. One of the biggest things for me was that the actual area itself felt a lot smaller than I expected. On top of that, there were SO many people packed in that it was hard to even stop for a second and actually enjoy the ambiance without constantly being surrounded by crowds or trying to move around people. It kind of took away from the experience because instead of feeling immersive or relaxing, it mostly just felt overcrowded. What also made it hard for me to justify the price is that you can literally see the entire thing through the fence from the park next to it. Honestly, if I ever wanted to see it again, I'd probably just go sit at the park, save my money, and actually have more room to enjoy the view comfortably without feeling packed in shoulder to shoulder with everyone else. Overall, it's definitely very pretty and visually impressive, but for me personally, the experience didn't match the cost enough to make me want to return.

I'd give the cleanliness and overall park quality a 10/10. There's something for all ages, and it's easy to spend a whole afternoon there. The train is definitely cute and fun for kids, but it's a bit overpriced at $5 per ticket, even for a one-year-old. Unfortunately, our experience with the train staff really took away from it. The woman taking tickets was extremely rude and didn't speak to us at all -- no hello, no eye contact, no thank you, nothing. It honestly felt like she didn't want to be there or interact with families. I was trying to make it a fun moment for my child by having them hand over the ticket, but they actually got scared and hid behind me. The woman selling the tickets, on the other hand, was very kind and welcoming. The park itself can also get very crowded, and we noticed older kids sometimes take over the younger kids' play areas, which can make it hard for little ones when there's roughhousing or inappropriate language. That's not really the park's fault, but it's something to be aware of if you have small children. Overall, it's definitely worth visiting at least once because it's a beautiful space with tons to do. I personally prefer smaller neighborhood parks for a calmer experience, but Anthem Community Park is great in terms of facilities. The biggest areas for improvement would be crowd management in the play areas and better, more family-friendly staffing for the train.

We've had some bad experiences with wasp infested splash pads lately but this one was not bad at all, I think I saw one flying around. Definitely a good amount of shading here, making it nice for the summer. My son had a lot of fun and this park was super clean and not overly crowded. Would definitely recommend and will come back again,
