I did a tremendous amount of research because this garment cannot be replaced if something were to go wrong. From my very first meeting with the seamstress, I felt confident I had come to the right place. She took the time to carefully assess the piece, explain what would need to be done, and set clear expectations. What truly stood out was their communication. They kept me updated throughout the entire process, especially when they realized the garment required significantly more work than originally anticipated. Despite the added complexity and time involved, they honored the initial approximation they had given me which speaks volumes about their integrity and professionalism. The final result was flawless. 4 fittings and $1,550 (yes) for 4 basic pants: Jeans, Tibi slacks - just needing a hem, nip at the waist & hips. The seamstress was Lillian. These items should have taken 1 fitting + the pickup. Instead, it took 4 separate fittings because she had cut them so egregiously small - they wouldn't go past my hips. 3rd fitting - still too small. It was a comedy of errors. I shared my anger with Lupe at the Del Mar Location who simply listened then charged full rate. It is the waste of both money and even more importantly - time that is infuriating. Literally 4 separate times I had to set aside time, drive out to 2 locations for them to fix what was extremely basic tailoring. I was warned by several friends not to use them for tailoring. Extremely overpriced for substandard work. I would never trust higher-end couture garments here. Instead I will go back to Anna Taylor Del Mar. read more

I took in my dad's vintage custom made in Australia sheepskin coat to be cleaned. This was after looking at a ton of reviews on yelp. When I walked in a man eventually came out from the back. This coat has hardly been worn. My parents live in Coronado and really only use this coat on ski trips. My dad must've dripped some white wine on it and I was afraid to clean it myself. The man was so rude and condescending. He said the cleaner would need to take look at it but that it was probably going to be over $300. I could buy a new custom made coat for that much. I've checked to see the value. He acted like the barely soiled coat had cooties. So incredibly rude. I took it home and ordered an Ugg boots cleaner kit from Amazon and did it myself for less than $30. This place might cater to high end couture but it looks like they pretty much clean wedding gowns. Wow! The best word to describe me after picking up my Coach bag is ELATED. It seems so silly, but I almost had tears in my eyes when I saw it. It looked like the same bag, but a totally different bag at the same time! My late mother in law gifted to me my very first nice bag. She told me she got it for me because I deserve nice things. She always took the best care of me. It was an orange and creme-themed Coach tote that has pockets, is a perfect size & has a sturdiness to it that I greatly appreciate in a bag. I was younger when she gifted it to me & did not realize how to properly care for such a nice bag, so it had rips, seams coming off, vinyl bits missing, frays in multiple areas, tears in the bottom...not to mention it wasn't clean after years of use. Now that she is gone, I would look at that tattered bag & wish I took better care of it because now that I have a couple other nice bags, I know the longevity they offer & I appreciate the beauty she saw in the bag and understood why she got it for me. Margaret's Cleaners was recommended by a Coach customer service rep. The cost to clean/repair was a pretty penny. It cost me more than a brand new bag I've ever bought...but the truth is...it was worth every penny to me. I always got compliments on that bag & it has a ton of sentimental value to me. I purchased a new hangtag to match with our initials & a heart in the middle to honor her. That is OUR bag & I no longer fear ruining it more. It seriously looks almost new! I could not believe it when I picked it up! I highly recommend! The quality work done was absolutely beautiful & seems solid enough to last a long period of time. Update: The owner process my garment again and the stains came out. It was a hard stain and they had to add color back in but it looks great. They also repaired one of my leather handbag that two other cleaners could not repair that did repairs. They also repaired some rotten threads on a knit top I have had for 20 years. It looks great. I took in two dresses and did not receive a quote before I dropped them off. I was shocked when I picked up one of the dresses (as the other was not ready yet) and it cost $160. I assumed this must be the cost for both dresses but to my surprise was charged an additional $120 for the second dress when I later picked that one up. I'm fairly certain the second dress only cost less due to the kind employee feeling bad for me and giving me a discount after the sticker shock. I am giving this two stars because the dresses did get clean and the one employee was nice. I will be looking for a new cleaner with more transparent pricing in the future. read more

I was very displeased at the quality of service delivered for what I paid and what they claimed. After my wife had a very rude first encounter with the manager, I went in myself only to be disappointed as well with the customer service. After finally getting my antique kimono, I found it torn on the sleeve and went back to the store for a fourth time to get it fixed. After bringing up the issue with the general manager and telling him that the service was unsatisfactory for the price, the best he offered me was a 10% discount. I had to fight for an additional 10% off that I was promised but still have not received three weeks later. Bottom line... go somewhere else! Your money is better spent elsewhere. read more

I dropped off a dress to be cleaned, and was promised that they would be able to leave the tag ON. (I needed to return it to the store.) But when I picked it up, the tage was GONE! They said, opps, sorry, we took it off & threw it away. They took NO responsibility for losing the price tag, would not pay for their screw-up by reimbursing me the $180 I lost out on by no longer being able to return the dress to the store. I just picked up my blue and white beautiful blouse!!! Last year I got into our pool during our 4th of July Party and didn't think the blue would bleed on the white and ruin the blouse!!!!! But it did I was so upset with myself for taking it for granted! I used it as a cover up and I ruined it!!! I called numerous cleaners and asked if they could get it out! I visited a few as well! I sent my wedding dress to Margaret's to be preserved. Since this was a custom made gown, it was very special to me. Because it was made of pure silk, parts of it were already yellowing from sunlight. Margaret's was very professional in receiving this gown and explaining the yellowing process. Because the dress was already getting damaged from being in light, they made an extra effort to rush it through the process so that we could mitigate the damage. The dress came back very quickly and was beautifully preserved. Their prices are high, but they are worth every penny for peace of mind. Their customer service was impeccable. Excellent customer service! I brought a suede coat to Margaret's after leaving a stick of gum in the pocket, and leaving my coat in a hot car where it melted and caused a big spot the front of the coat. The owner gave me several options from tailoring the coat to stain removal. He told me that he had good luck in the past with removing gum, but since my stain had been there for years (I had not been able to find a cleaner who would even try) he said it might be dicey. I decided to have him try to clean it, and he called a week later and said that luck was with me and that it completely came out. I'm thrilled to be able to wear my coat again! read more

I took my wedding dress and veil to be cleaned, mended, preserved, and boxed up. Two coworkers recommended Margaret's so that is why I decided to go there. Margaret's is VERY expensive, but I adored my wedding dress and it had a number of rips, so I decided to go with a place that was trusted and recommended. The people that worked there were very friendly and professional, and the lady that initially helped me when I dropped off my dress (Amy), was very nice and explained the whole wedding dress cleaning/preservation process to me. Upon pickup, the girl who helped me was also very friendly and explained how when I open the sealed envelope that comes with the (big) box that holds my dress, I will find a report of my dress with before and after pictures. I am satisfied with the whole process. The only "cons" that make me give them 4 out of 5 stars: I would have greatly appreciated if they gave me a call when my dress was ready for pick up. My dress was scheduled to be ready on December 6, and after calling every week and a half after that, I called again on January 9th and found out that it has been ready since January 4th. Also, I turned in my veil to be mended and cleaned as well, and the report didn't include any mention of my veil (which made me worry). I called to verify that they got the veil (since I do not want to open the box any time soon), and they said that it is in the box. Having all the pieces that I turned in be included in the report would have given me greater piece of mind. I did bring my husband's suit in for cleaning when I dropped off my wedding dress and they did an amazing job cleaning it (although it cost more than 40 dollars), so they do a a great job. I wouldn't bring my regular nice clothes here due to the prices, but I would recommend them to take care of designer items. read more

I brought my Ralph Lauren dress there because it was recommended to me, to remove a stain at the bottom of the dress. Today i picked up the dress and stain was still there. I was expected to pay the price of 50.29$ which was higher than the quote. They gave a 10$ discount , because i was mad, really mad, i said i will NEVER be back, my first and last time here,. and will tell everyone of my experience. Terrible! I brought two very expensive items to be cleaned and ended up having to come back 3 times until they got them right. Even now, the beautiful trim on my $3000 coat looks old and worn from their several attempts to clean it. When i let the manager know he took weeks to call me back. I couldn't be more disappointed. For $85 in cleaning charges for one coat, my local cleaner did a MUCH better job. If you have really nice things DO NOT bring them here. read more

My boyfriend and I brought in a real velvet couch cushion (couch was $1,500) that had about a 6-inch stain of red wine on it. We were told by the manager that they do "high quality" items and that they do everything well and it will get cleaned. She ensured us it shouldn't be a problem. And if they for some reason couldn't clean it, they would let us know immediately. She also said we would receive a quote on how much it would be, but we never did. We heard nothing from them in general since we dropped it off, and my boyfriend went to pick it up today. He brought it home, and it looked WORSE than when we took it. I don't even know if they even TRIED to get the stain out. When we were in the store, we were told that it would be finished by April 27th, and it wasn't ready until May 2nd. My boyfriend went to pick it up, and we paid $250 for a cleaning job that clearly was not done. I can't believe she let him walk out with such a low-quality job. This company is by far the worst cleaning company to exist in San Diego area. Horrible service- WILL NEVER BE BACK. I would give 0 stars if I could. Please beware before going to this place- they will ruin your items and not get the job done!!! read more
