Our server was pretty horrid.. was not listening to what we were ordering at all. The men's restroom had no stall just a curtain, felt like I was visiting mexico with that. Server would purposely not look over while she was doing her busy work so she wouldn't he bothered. Food was expensive for what it was and so was our beer.. my barrio blonde tasted super old or left out in the heat. Nice divey bar in a strip mall on the far eastside. Cheap reasonable brews. Some good variations, but not a lot of craft options. The main thing is the karaoke here. Lots of regulars, so you need to be bold and get your requests in as soon as possible. Lots of room from groups. I did not try any food, but might on a future visit. Check the website for karaoke times, but it appeared to be consistent as a 8pm start, but it didn't start for about 15 minutes due to some discussions with the regulars and some newbies like myself just looked around for some direction. read more

I chose to go to margarita bay after finding out they have karaoke every night. I use an electric scooter to get around and was disappointed to not find a bike rack to lock it up. This place doesn't even have a handicap parking spot. Some businesses allow me to lock up my scooter on the sign post. Being that I have had several attempts from different riff-raff around town trying to steal my scooter, I wasn't about to leave it unlocked in front of a bar. So I go inside to ask if I can bring it in and they flat out said no with a fucked up attitude. . That made it quite apparent that they don't give a shit about their customers or their customers' property. It'll be a cold day in hell before I ever patronize that hole. There are other businesses such as the frozen cactus that care enough about not letting my scooter be stolen to let me bring my scooter inside even though there are spots outside to secure it. read more

This place is a true dive bar. Literally very little effort has been put into the decor. The bartender was lovely. My friend ordered some beers, fried shrimp and fries, and I ordered some zucchini fries. Typical bar food with extra grease. The karaoke host was a great singer and was super nice. A friend and I came for the karaoke and it was okay. It was a Wednesday night so maybe I expected too much but there weren't that many people who sang. The song book is incredibly limited and didn' have most of my go-to songs. I didn't know half of the artists and if the song wasn't it in the book, it wasn't in the DJ's system. The crowd was interesting - it ranged from a nice family having a night out to a group of young patrons who clearly only wanted to get hammered to drunk regulars shouting profanity-laden 80s rock into the mic. It's a 7-day/week karaoke bar. I was looking for the best karaoke in Tucson for my visit and this is one of the places that came up on google. It's a pretty, friendly place. Some of the men were a little too friendly and way too grabby- to the point of inappropriate. Im not used to that at all. To keep it clean, and not gross people out, I will refrain from saying what they did. All that aside, the karaoke hostesses are alot of fun! I kept getting there late and they often worked to fit me in once. Very cool! They have a very big selection of songs- which of course is heavy on the country music, but big surprise! Actually, it was great b/c I got to learn a bunch of new songs I never hear people sing in NY. Sometimes the crowd is very supportive of all who sing, and other times the hostesses have to rib the crowd for not clapping and supporting the singers. I felt pretty comfortable most of the time going alone. My last night in Tucson, they went out of their way to let me sing last and a lady even bought me a send-off drink. Very friendly! read more

There's a large bookof songs, and I was able to find ones that I liked. There didn't seem to be much rhyme or reason to the order, but there were 2 good sized groups who tended to rotate back and forth. I appreciated that they had a huge screen and portable mikes, so you could just sing from your spot in the bar without having to really walk up to the front. I heard stories later from others about the folks that they'd talked to at the bar... interesting crowd. I recommend you bring your own group of friends for your performance. read more

Soo... doing laundry next door at Coyote wash and decided I'd sing some karaoke. Went to the margarita bay, was a 15-20 wait for my song, all good. I asked the bartender Patty for a water, which she brought. Went to sing my song and afterwards my water was gone...no biggie it's just a water right. I left and went to switch my laundry to the dryer. When I came back I picked another song to sing, sat down at the bar and asked for another water. Patty said "you didn't finish your first" my reply was you took it away while I was singing, can I please get another water. Her response was you're too intoxicated already and you can't sing any karaoke anymore. WTF!!?? First off I wasn't drunk, think she was just upset that I wasn't ordering drinks? I even laid out $3 on the bar just for a water and she still wouldn't serve me a water....wtf What bartender in their right mind doesn't serve a water to a patron intoxicated or not.... Strip mall dive bar. karaoke 7 Nights a week. Large U shaped bar. Sometimes very crowded and Saturday night only got to sing 2 songs. Although one guy was allowed to sing 5 when everyone else got one. Not cool. Typical fried bar food. No Fox sports 2 and I missed Supercross. Very flirty ladies. Nice local people. I have been a patron of the Margarita Bay for probably close to 15 years. I've had some really good times at this bar with family and friends. Celebrated many birthdays and holidays here. Used to have a full service kitchen with a full time cook producing some pretty good food, good fish fry on Fridays. A few years ago there seemed to be a breakdown in management. Owners had health problems and one eventually died. After that the place really went down hill. The Karaoke host Tammy was fired after working for them for 13 years. She would sometimes come in a bit late but always ran a fun and fair show. Their song selection has dramatically diminished over the years. For a 7 night a week karaoke bar they should have a much bigger selection. The KJ's in there now cater to their friends and one of them sings ALOT...even with a full bar and many singers waiting for their turn. It seems she plays favorites when her friends come in. Not cool. Recently I was in there with family. I put in 4 songs at once. I sang 2 of them within 2 hours. Another regular singer (who only comes in on weekends to sing) came in and within an hour he was up to sing his 3rd song while I was skipped over. After that I left. I've been a faithful patron for 15 years and have spent ALOT of money in this place (and I'm a good singer). Over the 15 years I've been going here the décor has not changed. Same awful murals on the walls, same tables, booths, chairs and the bathrooms.....disgusting. There is a shower curtain in the men's room to offer privacy for those needing to use the toilet. The women's bathroom always smells of sewer gas and it is filthy. Sink has cracks in it and the lower part of the exterior of the toilet has some black gunk covering it. Absolutely disgusting. I know this bar rakes in the money but I sure don't know what they are doing with it because they sure as hell aren't spending it on any improvements to the bar. Patty the bartender makes a strong drink but is not always attentive to the bar patrons. Beth is a sweetheart and always on top of her service. I will likely continue to go to this bar because regardless of all the negatives I feel comfortable here and always run into people I know. I just wish they would clean the place up. I'd rather walk across the street to use the bathroom at the circle K than use the bathroom at this bar. It's really bad. read more

Good people, prices, and atmosphere. I have been going to this bar for years and this is is my home away from home. Everyone is so inviting, the drinks are strong and the selection of song are dissent. The food is good and I can even take my boys there up until 10pm they like that because they can show off their karaoke songs since karaoke starts at 8pm. I just wanna start off saying, I love the bay. I love going their and singing my heart out when I can... It's my neighborhood bar, and I go there as often as I can. That being said, lemme tell you all about my experience tonight. First off, I'd like to start by saying that the regular bartenders and karaoke dj are very much biased to sexual orientation. This being a bar, I would normally understand. Except for tonight, when apparently a customer of the male persuasion, happened to see a female customer whom he had a restraining order against. Upon seeing said patron, the male customer did as the restraining order suggested, and called the police. Not my first reaction to an ex, as I would have just left, but nonetheless still his reaction. Anyway, the cops showed up... Now let me make it clear, I DO NOT KNOW EITHER PARTY INVOLVED. I just happened to be standing at the rear gate when 3 tpd officers arrived. They then had a short conversation with the owner Dennis, whom also, I had never met. They asked him directly if he knew what was going on. To which he replied, no, then he admitted that he did have knowledge of a restraining order issue that was being handled. At that point, one of his waitresses, said that yes, she was hiding in the bathroom, and she was leaving. I, having nothing to do with either party just sat there, enjoying my drink and the night. Later, when I happened outside again, I saw the bartender ( an older lady with a puffed up hair do and bad makeup) and the karaoke dj argueing with the male patrons friends on why he had to leave, did I mention that I had been there when tpd had said that the girl had to leave. That they wouldn't be charging the male and also letting him go back into the bar. Suddenly, I was an issue too. I told them that I didn't want any trouble, but rather that I was just stating the truth. I truly was just telling the truth, not thinking anything else about it. I then went back inside to check on my song selection, considering that it had been over 2 hours since my last song, only to be told that because I had the audacity to tell the truth, I was done singing for the rest of the night. When I asked why, I was told that "it was because I couldn't shut my mouth". I then stated that I had only told the truth, and that I didn't wanna start shit, but that IS what the officer said. At that point the karaoke dj told me that I was cut off and was about to get kicked out. At that, I began questioning why. I can admit (mainly because I am NOT a liar, and I had had 2 and a half beers) that I did get upset, and I did raise my voice. I said "why would you kick me out for telling the truth? " and "that IS what the officer said" over and over. Suddenly someone said that I was starting shit with the dj. I told them that they were very wrong, but that I just didn't understand why I was being persecuted for telling the truth. At which point I was grabbed by a customer and started to get escorted out by force. During my forced exit, I saw the dj talk to another patron, who then also got in my face saying that I had tried to hit said dj. He then proceeded to follow me out threatening me that if I ever came back there he would "kick my ass". Now, I can admit, that yes, at this point I went from upset to pissed off, and I also began to talk shit back. Telling the old man that I would love the chance to kick his ass back. Truthfully though the guy was so old that I was almost afraid that he might have had a heart attack in the parking lot... and no, of course, it wasn't Dennis the owner. Just some jackass friend of the dj not really knowing what was going on, but still their to defend his girl. My point is, after all of that, obviously I wasn't drunk because I am writing this as I walk home. Obviously, the owner, Dennis, should have let the rest of the staff know what tpd said before leaving the premises . Obviously, I should not have been persecuted for telling the truth. And obviously, I will never be back here. Which is a sad statement, because I truly did enjoy the place until now. I will also be letting every single person I know, and come into contact with, know what happened to me here. On every single site, and blog I can find. Plus, because I personally know of many times they have served to people they shouldn't, and over poured to regulars. And because I live directly across the street, I will be calling the police every time I see anything that looks like it could be fucked up until I get them closed down... I promise. read more

We didn't want to drink a bunch and drive. Very irisponsable of the guy in charge of karaoke. 10 of us left because of this.
