Super cute. Visited Tucson for an event, and saw they had a drag show on Saturday - every Saturday from the looks of it. Made a table reservation for about $30 including all fees + 2 drinks ( for 2) so not bad. They do offer free seating in the back but first come first serve. This was a goooood time! I kinda wanted to skip the show so I came at 11 and found a perfect park right in the front. When I walked in I was greeted by Bryan (I think...long night) and I asked "how does this work" he explained the layout and asked if it was my first time I said yes and he was super sweet! I walked to the bar and it was kinda busy but not to to busy. I grabbed a drink and walked around it was a really cute space nice dance floor and spacious back patio. The music was hit or miss but I felt like they were trying to please everyone which is understandable. I am not a baby so I drink shots straight up no ice with a chaser I like all my liquor lol so for me the drinks were strong some one bought me a lemon drop and it was good too! I went on a Saturday night to have a couple of drinks before bar hopping. The drinks were a bit watered down to me, which is why I deducted a couple of stars. We left shortly after we arrived as the drinks were not really adding to the liveliness we were going for. Other than that, there was a drag show happening and I believe a $3.00 cover charge around 9:00pm (ish). They have a seating area where the show takes place and it seemed to be packed in that area. So it would be suggested to go a bit early to grab a seat if you would like to see the show. There was a lot of standing so if you can't catch a seat, comfortable shoes might be a wise choice. read more

I want to love IBT's more than 4 stars. But it's a 4 star experience consistently. Let's start with the positives: OMG their bar food is phenomenal perfect, slightly greasy fare you know and love. From mozzarella sticks, to chicken fingers, and OMG the fries. The drinks are also amazing from a lava flow, to a kamikaze, to just a simple gin and tonic they are ON IT! Diva hosts trivia every Tuesday and it is a BLAST. I highly recommend Monday night karaoke & Trivia Tuesday with Diva she's a blast and a beautiful drag queen and the reason I keep coming back. Now for the areas that need work: wait times at the bar can be long. The positive is on the weekends when it's bumpin the outdoor bar is also open. The thing that is the biggest deterrent here is that there is only ONE women's restroom. I don't mean one restroom with multiple stalls... simply just ONE. The one women's restroom is always a mess and last night there was a plunger by the toilet and it was a DIY situation... let's just say I left it better than how I found it. Pros: IBTs is one of the only gay bars in Tucson, so if you're queer and want to be around queer people this is the place to go. This is always one of the places my friends and I visit during our bar crawl on the weekends. There's always people Friday and Saturday night, and to be honest, the cover charge isn't that bad. During the weekday, it's a chill place to go to sit outside and catch up with friends. The drinks are good, and they also have drag shows available throughout the week if that's more your thing. Overall, this is one of my go-to bars for meeting up with queer friends or being a messy drunk gay. Cons: The music is bad, like, really really bad. It's actually become a gag joke to bring friends here for the music because everyone will universally stop and be like 'what even are they playing right now?'. If you want to enjoy the music you'll want to drink heavily beforehand, which at this point I'm convinced is their marketing plan. At a certain point I think you could just pass the aux to any random gay person and they'd have a more fire Spotify playlist. The main issue for me is the bathrooms. There is only one stall in the women's bathroom, and I believe there is four stalls in the men's bathroom. I have met so many people who were about to pee their pants waiting in line. Sometimes cis women will wait in line to use the men's stalls, and I've seen them get harassed. Which brings me to my second point, if you're trans and wanting to use the bathrooms here it could be a bit of a challenge. Even though I've been on hormones, bind & dress conventionally masculine I have never felt comfortable standing in line for the men's stall because of the harassment I've seen. Usually I have to do the walk of shame towards the women's line and awkwardly wait. There's been several times where me and my other trans masc friends have opted to wait in line for the women's stall bc we were not wanting to risk harassment. Honestly, for a gay bar in 2024 I'm surprised they don't have a gender neutral bathroom or at least more bathrooms. It's gotten to the point that I try to avoid using the bathrooms here at all cost, and will opt to go to another bar. read more

I went to this bar with my girlfriend and our 2 bandmates/best friends last night, and we had a very aggressive and unnecessary experience with a security guard. The four of us had been there outside dancing, talking to our friends, and minding our own business for a couple hours when the bouncer from the front entrance came outside and told my girlfriend, (who was dancing with our best friend at the time,) that it looked like she was making our friend uncomfortable. I have no idea how he came to this conclusion, considering the four of us had been very close all night and arrived/left together. Our friend in question told this security guard multiple times that my girlfriend didn't do anything wrong, we all told him that. He completely disregarded the person who was said to be the "victim" in this situation (our friend who was dancing with my girlfriend) who again, said MULTIPLE times that she was not making anyone uncomfortable. He then grabbed her and very aggressively pulled her up the stairs toward the exit, and she fell because he was pulling her too hard and she is healing from a broken ankle. He picked her up by her arms and ordered another security guard to grab her legs to carry her out. Because she is recovering from a recently broken ankle, the entire time this was happening the three of us were yelling at him to not grab her ankles, and the fact that she was not anywhere near drunk enough to be kicked out. He blatantly ignored us when we said we would handle it and clearly was targeting her. We all saw it first-hand and remember everything that happened. We all agree that he handled this situation poorly and that he was aggressive, unreasonable, and discriminatory for absolutely no reason. we really were just dancing and minding our business. Now her ankle is swollen and she can't walk on it, she hit her head on the way out, and we are all absolutely livid that our night was ruined by this man blatantly targeting my girlfriend. read more

This has been a process over the past 8 years. I have updated this business reviews at least 4 time moving them from 3 stars to 4 and 5 to 4 and so forth. When I move them up I think they have cleaned up see if their issues but honestly it's still a work in progress. That's why I rarely go these days. However, this review is based ony last two visits. I walk in and go directly to the speed well and I'm holding a $20 in my hand. No on acknowledged me for 20 minutes. He helped everyone around me but not me. Finally, I ask if I could get a drink he said sure brb it took another 10 minutes. This has become common people around were telling me they help "friends" first. I order a old fashion it wasn't made properly. The last time went in this time had 100 dollar bill in my hand with two other people stood up front bar for 15 minutes. No, acknowledgment again. So, we went to outside bar and was helped quickly and friendly (finally). So, we ordered three drinks we ordered a Moscow Mule, Old Fashioned and a dark and stormy. So, as nice as he was he wasn't sure how to make them he first ask my friend and then he went on YouTube. He was able to do two of the three and we switched other out for Gin and Tonic. However, all three needed to be balanced and the mule should have been served in a copper cup. If they don't have copper they shouldn't offer this drink. This has been my local bar since I moved here. I really want to see them thrive. However, I think they need to do some training. All those drinks are common and the ones they did do wasn't even close to being balanced. We of course didn't send them back. We just end pushing through and we only had beer rest of night. I would love to give them 5 stars again. However, this review is very fair this could easily have been a 1 star. read more

Those that know, know. Love this place. Great all around. They have shows Thursday through Saturday and karaoke on Sunday. You can sit at the bar and see through a small window but it's best to sit in the room behind the bar to really enjoy. My brother and his husband also love this place. The gentleman behind the bar are good people and interact with you. They keep out the riffraff so you can enjoy your night out. The building itself is clean and well maintained. Part of my experience here is my fault - do not order any sophisticated cocktails in a place like this. I asked the bartender if he could make a Manhattan. He said he could. He could not. I ended up with what was later known as "the world's worst Manhattan." It was a strange color, tasted horribly bitter, and it was $10. My friend who is a bartender tasted it and confirmed it was the worst ever. So, kids, when you come here, don't get fancy drinks. The drag show was not the best, although some performers were better than others. The first performer couldn't even keep with the lyrics to the song, and the performance was mostly walking back and forth and collecting money. But then another performer came out and danced. their. ass. off. It was great. So, it is hit or miss with the performances. I have seen better, I have seen worse. One plus about this place is that it is welcoming for everyone. While it is a gay bar, it was welcoming even to the squeaking college girl crowd that came for the show, and I give them props for dealing with that with a smile. read more

Having moved here in 1989, when we had 5 or 6 Gay Bars....it makes me sad that IBT's is the last REAL Gay Bar. None the less, it is very open and welcoming for ALL PEOPLE, and the atmosphere is very laid back. There are shows, karaoke nights, and drink and food specials all the time. IBT's is advertised as a gay bar but that is not the case. This is a dance bar with a drag show that caters to everyone. We went this past Friday night, and the women out numbered the men by 2 to 1 and about the same ratio straight to gay (from what I could tell). As a gay male I did not feel comfortable as many of the straight guys gave laser looks back if you even looked their way. This is not a safe haven for gays any longer. The no vaping policy was not enforced as one of their regulars was vaping all the time inside. Nothing was said at all. Parking does not exist here so good luck with finding a place to park. All of the side streets require a residential parking pass. Now with the negatives out of the way, here are the positives: 1. The place was clean. 2. Drinks were reasonably priced. 3. The bartenders were great and friendly. 4. The food was hot, very tasty and price wise, cheap. 5. The drag queens provided an awesome show for a $3 cover charge. 6. The dance music was good except no one was dancing on the patio as it was way too cold outside. Just do not expect a traditional gay bar experience as that does not exist at this place. read more

Newer to Tucson; I have enjoyed great drag shows, service and pretty darn good food at IBT's! Recently tho a little heads up; would like to know when I visit during advertised (Instagram for ie.) Happy Hour days/times; that I am getting the HH $! Today, I had to inform bartender that it was a $2.50 HH well Saturday. This was earlier in the day, not after 9 pm. It makes me wonder how many x I've paid $6.50 for a well when it should have been $2.50. IBTS has been a favorite spot for me and all of my friends for years now. Last night, that changed. A larger group of us showed up around 1am, a few of us a bit tipsy, and two of us completely sober, as we were driving. As soon as we entered, we were barked at by a bouncer we had never seen before to "stand up against the wall". So we did. He then went though usual procedure and checked ids, looked through purses, and stamped us. Moments after letting a few of us in, with the same nasty attitude, he asked my friend, who was stone cold sober, to "stand on one foot without leaning on the wall"... which he had so rudely asked us to do in the first place. He didn't question anyone else's sobriety, even though as I said, a few of us were visibly inebriated. This wouldn't bother me if my friend who was targeted didn't happen to be the only POC in our group. She tried to shake it off, but continued to feel really uncomfortable after we bought her a drink, so we decided to approach him, in hopes of clearing it up as a misunderstanding. Instead of calming our fears of prejudice, he got belligerently defensive and even went as far as to get in my friend's face and say "I let her in, didn't I???". He proceeded to tell us we could leave, which we didn't have a problem with. We didn't want to give the place any more of our money. At this point, my friend, you guessed it, STILL SOBER, was sobbing. She'd never been made to feel that way at IBTS. I wrapped my arm around her to keep her from having to look at him while we exited, and he decided to yell "she has to be carried out of the club, see???!!" I was livid. I'm disgusted by the behavior of this staff member, and will never be returning to what once felt like a safe haven for the marginalized. Truly sad. read more

IBTs used to be a sanctuary of acceptance and love. Recently, the staff have shown that that is no longer the case. My group of 9 people walked in to IBTs and all paid the cover charge upon entry. However, the one person in our group who happened to be the only POC and also the only sober one out of all of us was asked to stop and take a sobriety test. Meanwhile I fumbled through my bag for my ID and joked around at the front of the line but was passed along as if I hadn't had a sip of alcohol. I don't know what changed in the quality of staff hired, but I have never seen such disrespect from IBTs before! This new crew seemes to have their priorities mixed up. I hope that management can recognize the issue and fix it before more people are profiled and hurt because of the color of their skin. read more

As a 43 year old with a real ID I was stopped at the door as they threatened that they would take my fake ID from me. Telling me the only way I could get my 100% real ID back was if they contacted the police to verify it was real. I was in Tucson on vacation from Hawaii and wanted to see some local drag and support the lgbtq+ community in Tucson. Unfortunately, I will never attempt to visit this bar again. Not women/female friendly. Also very poorly designed. Only 1 toilet for the womens bathroom, meanwhile they have 4 Stalls in the mens bathroom. Never enough room in the drag show area. Hallways way too narrow for people to walk through since the womens bathroom line is always so long. The womens bathroom usually has people hogging it snorting coke. All surfaces are super sticky, even the walls. Not clean. Would probably be fun if you were a male though. Women should find a different spot. read more

My girlfriend and I frequent IBT's often and whether it's for Friday afternoon drinks or for a night out we always leave happy. Staff is amazing. Always attentive and so kind.
