Every time we are here we get great service and outstanding food. The margaritas are top notch, too.

We stopped by here for a business lunch after hearing good reviews. We were seated immediately and were served complimentary chips and salsa. My entree, that was excellent, was Quesadillas Vallarta that had chicken, steak and shrimp inside served with rice and a sour cream salad. High, low, booth and bar seating. Daily specials. Clean with a classy and authentic Mexican theme. Hispanic wait staff. Very good service. 3% credit card fee. A little pricy but not bad. Had a party of approximately 12-15. Just took a fortnight to get service and then our food. But boyyyyy when that food came out. *melty face emoji* Had a couple apps, as one should. One was the 1lb of wings with Buffalo sauce. I'm a firm believer in all wings are good wings and this place did not disappoint. Crunchy skin, meaty, full of flavor. 10/10 would rob a bank to financially support buying more. The other app was the choriqueso. Basically chorizo and cheese. Served with chips for the dippin' and torts for the rollin'. Anytime meat and cheese can be used for an appetizer, you have my attention. Main course was a black been and seasoned beef burrito. Standard size, but chock full of beans and beefs. Complete with cheese and red sauce. Came with rice and beans and pico. Everything was great and filling. Couldn't even finish it. Absolutely terrible food Ordered an appetizer, it was brought out with the dinners after an extended wait. Ordered the seafood molcajete, it was very spicy but far worse was that it was WAY OVERCOOKED. The lobster was hard and rubbery as well as the shrimp and scallops. When it was served the waiter forgot to bring plates and we had to ask 2 servers to bring us plates. Even the basic beef nachos we poor as they did not include the peppers and other vegetables that were described on the menu. We brought all these issues to the attention of the manager and she responded that 1) they were short wait staff and busters 2) the seafood chief was new and 3) she did not have time to watch the kitchen and run the cash register. She also offered no adjustment to the bill for poor quality food. We used to enjoy this restaurant but certainly not anymore. read more

This was my first time at Margaritas Grill and I thought my experience here was just fine. The staff is friendly and we didn't have to wait for a table--we came for dinner on a Wednesday right at 6 and the restaurant was nearly empty. I forgot to snag a few photos of the menu, but it's like the Cheesecake Factory of Mexican restaurants--there are so many options! I went for the Combo Platter and it was just okay. Each item was only beef and there were no substitutions. I would have loved to try their pork or chicken options, but oh well. The food tasted fine, but there just wasn't anything special about it! Maybe next time I'll try the fajitas... I think the interior of this restaurant also may need a few modern upgrades if it wants to last in this location! Kind of a cool ambiance but doesn't justify that they now charge for chips and salsa?! Food is okay but not drive out of the way okay! Margaritas are fake tasting and overpriced for what they are! We were there November 10, 2024. When we were seated at the table they brought over a half basket of chips and salsa. Our party of four thought nothing of it and ate them quite fast. We did ask for another basket. When it came time for the bill I noticed an extra charge for the chips and salsa of $1.50. It's not the price of the chips and salsa (although I'm sure it costs pennies on the dollar to the restaurant), the fact that our waiter did not mention the extra charge. I have been to many mexican restaurants and none of them charge for extra baskets of chips and salsa. About the food items, we selected the chicken tacos. They were good however the portion of guacamole was extremely small, like 2 oz worth and looks as it it came straight out of a can, no taste as all. First time here last week. Agree with many other reviews... this place is nothing special. Came in for lunch with 2 others as we were in town for the curling tournament right next door. Seated right away. Lots of servers hanging out. We ordered 3 different kinds of enchiladas. All were just okay. 2 bucks for extra 2 ounces of guacamole. 3% extra charge for what? I really wanted this restaurant to be great. It looks great but the service was horrible and it wasn't because of manpower. Servers standing around, some with questionable language skills. We ordered a combo platter to split. I ordered a Sprite, my wife ordered water. They brought out two Sprites and it took us ten minutes to get her a water. The food was so, so. We had to ask for a second plate which took forever to get someone over to ask and then forever to get it, we were half done by that time. They charged us for two Sprites and honestly, we were too frustrated with the service to try to correct it. We visited this restaurant on a snowy Wednesday night. I ordered a medium Blue Margarita which was huge and tasty but seemed to lack much alcohol. I also ordered the big combo plate, enough to take home for lunch the next day. Unfortunately it was very underwhelming and didn't have much flavor. The chips and salsa were very good and our server was excellent. And the bathrooms were very clean. But overall probably won't be making a return visit. read more

After ordering a top shelf margarita and not liking the flavor, I asked for a skinny girl margarita and the waiter said the flavors were not the same. And I would really like the skinny girl flavoring. We watched them pour it, again, from the same premade container as the first one. So I sent it back and the manager came over and told me I had to pay for it no matter what. She was VERY loud and aggressive towards me and the table. Then when the food came out, they forgot my whole order. I had to get up and find a server to help me out. Also, no chips or salsa was served. Ho hum... I had not been here before but stopped in with a friend for lunch. I ordered a side - cheese burrito. WAYYY too salty. I did not eat all of it. Also ordered a side Tostado. It was OK. Still a but salty but just a tostada. My friend ordered a cheese renellos. I asked her how it was and she said it was OK. It also would have been OK if they had waited until we left to run tha vacuum, although since we were the only people left at that time, maybe it is empty as they expected it to be. read more

The food was okay, nothing amazing. The service was really bad though. Took forever for our server to come take our order, took even longer to get our food and the server never came back to check in. It took 20 minutes just to get our cards back and the restaurant was basically empty. For 3 margaritas, queso, and soup we were there for almost 2 hours and the bill was almost $80. The waiter said he had white wine and red wine. Upon questioning, he wentback and then reported he had chardonnay. He said he thought it was from California. After ordering this unknown chardonnay, he went away and the came back and reported he had no chardonnay. Ten minutes later, he came back with a bottle of Kendall Jackson. Meanwhile, three or four waiters and waitresses were standing around nearby talking personal matters with each other most of the time we were there. This is in an area where many restaurants close two or three days a week for lack of employees. So I ordered the taco salad with beef. What came was the smallest taco slad in a shell about 7 inches in diameter for $14. Digging into it, it had a small bit of avocado, lettuce, refried beans - but no beef. When I finally was able to alert a waitress, she looked at it and went away. Ten minutes later, a small dish of ground beef was put on the table- about half a cup. The surge of summer tourists may keep it open a while, but I am predicting that this restaurant will become one more on the list of retaurants which have occupied this site only briefly. read more

The staff and atmos was very nice. The food however was extremely salty. The rice and Shrimp dish tasted like the salt shaker top fell off while sprinkling. When we notified the bus-person and waiter, the waiter merely apologized. No offer to replace the dish or take the uneaten meal off our tab. read more

If I could have posted this without a star I would have. What can I say about this restaurant that is positive? There isn't, I experienced poor service, poor management, and poor tasting food. I found a long hair in my food, so I brought it to attention to my waiter and his attitude was "so what" he brought over his manager, and she started to imply that I put the long hair in the food myself. We got no apology whatsoever. I had to ask for a new meal. They took no responsibility. the food had no flavor either. Needless to say, I will not be revisiting this place. We had never been to the many restaurants that graced this building over the past many years but felt led to give this one a try. We were hopeful that this would be good but those hopes were quickly dashed. The requisite chips and salsa came first and I highly doubt the chips were made in house. We traversed the voluminous margarita menu and selected one that had actual lime juice in them and they were actually pretty good. We tried a couple of the meat heavy house specialties - the carnitas were decent but not great. They were clearly made with good quality lard as they had that taste. The rice and beans that came with it were very bland and an after thought. My wife had a trio of meats (chorizo, chicken and steak) - again it was decent but nothing great. The steak was very tough, the chicken was OK and the chorizo with onions was likely the best. All in all the food was OK but nothing great - especially for the price. Oh and then another fun little surprise - a 3% surcharge for using a credit card. All in all there are better Mexican place in TC so we won't likely be back. read more

Came in on a friend's recommendation and were very pleased that we did. The restaurant is clean and nicely decorated. Staff were very attentive and friendly. I had the burrito Vallarta, which was an amazing dish. My wife had the shrimp tacos and also liked them very much. Unlike many other local Mexican restaurants that rely on heavy salt for the flavor, Margaritas Grille has done a nice job of blending a variety of flavors to make an enjoyable meal without much salt. This is the worst restaurant I have ever been to. They have to be a scam. What up to Traverse City for a girls weekend with three of my friends and saw this restaurant thinking it was really nice on the outside and really nice on the inside. Didn't wanna order a big meal because we were going to do some shopping and didn't wanna leave the food in the hot car, so I ordered three $2.99 tacos and asked for onion. tomato, sour cream and guacamole. I received all of these with my tacos in small little tiny clear cups, and didn't realize it until I went to pay that I was charged $3.75 for each of these items, and $5.97 for the guacamole,.....each one of these items amounted to less than tablespoon each. On the menu the cist for a sude of guacamole says it's $1.99 and the sour cream says it's $1.25. My one friend ordered food and got sour cream and her side of sour cream was $1.25 for the same size, but for some reason I was charged 3.75!!!! And they would not take off the difference. My bill ended up being $41 for a $10 margarita and three $2.99 tacos. I understand extra cost extra but the side is a side and if it says $1.25 it shouldn't matter if I have one taco or three tacos you don't charge me three times.. just a heads up for anybody looking to go there. Not to mention it's hard to communicate with them because they don't speak good English. Better watch out or it will happen to you. read more
