    Beer Cheese Burger.

Took a stroll thru Alden grabbing some pictures of Torch Lake before a sunset cruise. It's a cute little town you can tell is full of us tourists types in the summer. We decided to get something for dinner before our cruise. It took a few minutes for the wait staff to get to us to ask us about or drinks, but once they did they were on top of it after that (maybe it was shift change). The restaurant is cute and was quite busy at 4pm. My husband ordered the Nachos and I got the Beer Cheeseburger. The food was good and the portion size was larger than expected.

    Horrible chips.

No more jukebox, no more shuffleboard, feels generic like someone watched too many episodes of Bar Rescue and said I can do that.

Slabtown is an…read moreabsolute 'must' for any burger lovers visiting TC; especially in the summertime when you can sit outside on their porch or surrounding patio. It's an old house that has been transformed into a burger destination. The inside is cramped, especially in the order area when they're busy, and indoor seating is tough to come by at peak times. The service has never been anything short of excellent on our visits. The staff is welcoming, helpful, patient, and friendly. Service is quick, even when they're slammed. Phenomenal burgers, O-rings, tots, and sweet potato fries. The Northwood's DRAFT (not fountain) root beer is a perfect pairing with their burgers. Slabtown's menu of specialty burgers is enormous and the BYO options include different protein choices and excellent GF buns. I've tried many of their burgers, but have to say that the Slabby Patty on a pretzel bun and the Pungi's Pepper Patty really stood out as a couple of my favorites. For a really sinful (and unhealthy) treat, ask for the gravy tots. Oh brother...insanely good but definitely a guilty pleasure. We've sent tons of our friends and family here, and I can tell you that every one of them has thanked us for the recommendation and raved about their burgers. So what are you waiting for? Get yourself to Slabtown!

I don't think we could have picked a better Restaurant to have our dog with! We literally had no idea that this restaurants theme is dogs! Moose and Stella's is such a cute Restaurant! The dog decor is absolutely adorable! We were greeted warmly and told our dog was absolutely welcome and they brought her a big bowl of water and some biscuits! This is definitely a mom café with lots of delicious looking foods to choose from. I decided on the corned beef hash as it was mentioned that it was homemade and popular and we also chose blueberry pancakes as it came highly recommend recommended. My husband chose a skillet that had several types of meat and sausage, gravy and hashbrowns. It was a daily special. Our waitress and other staff were so kind and kept our coffee cups full. As a sidenote, it was fairly close to closing time I would say about 45 minutes before they closed and not once did we ever feel like we had to rush. Our food came out and looked absolutely delicious! The servings were very big and everything was hot. The corned beef has was most likely the best I've ever had!! it was like a very rustic take on what I know is corned beef and I absolutely loved it! It was very flavorful and it had that nice crispy. Text her and places that you really crave with corn beef hash. 10/10! The blueberry pancakes were exceptional as well. They were light and fluffy and fresh blueberries all throughout. My husband skillet was full of all kinds of breakfast meats, cheese, hashbrowns, and gravy. I don't think you can do much better than that. He said everything was delicious and he really liked the gravy which is a complement to the business as he is extremely picky about sausage gravy! My daughter had the kids hamburger slider with fries and applesauce and she said it was delicious! Just a sidenote, they have a small menu for your dogs as well! We ordered our dog, Marley, a big hamburger patty and she gave it a 10 out of 10 We will return again and again, we come to the area for vacation and this restaurant will definitely be in our normal rotation when we visit!

Me and the fam enjoyed the cute ambiance of the lake town, and when I saw that there was a funeral home across the street -- notice that funeral homes are called funeral homes. It makes me very uncomfortable because it's as if that will be my future home. Home like Billy Joel's "You're my home." I cannot imagine that I will have the same feelings that his lyrics reflect. Regardless, if I did end up dying and that's my the elected "funeral home," then I'm glad that whoever still loves me will be able to have a nice meal at a doggy themed cafe. Waitress was sweet.

Our waitress smiled warmly as we opted for beverage orders. Just as I'm ready to go with the Oregon Pinot Noir, my eye catches a "Black Manhattan" on the cocktail menu. Well they set the fishing hook right into my cheek. Obviously I had to roll the dice. Huge drink garnished with Italian maraschino cherries. Brilliant Concussion! Simply delish! Okay, now on to their small plate listings. I opted for a Seafood pasta, speckled with shrimp, clams & a mussel or two - genius. Linda selected their sliced filet mignon, which you could cut with your fork - perfect medium rare. Also her salad serving was cleaned up with great enthusiasm. Our dear dining friends loved their choices also. Oh I almost forgot, Taylor's French Onion soup was over the top. The room was very pleasant with soft tones and lower ceilings. Now far from me being a wall flower, I inquired about the Chef. Waited for perhaps 15 seconds and simply strolled into the back of the house (kitchen) & asked to met the Chef. Taylor appeared around the corner with the look on his face like "hell's bells this guy didn't like my cooking!". WRONG! Completely caught off guard as I expounded about his creativity and presentations. Love this little gem in Bellaire. Have missed the Rowe Inn & Tapawingo over the years, but the 26 minute drive is SO worth it. Call them for reservations as the staff is limited, but attentive. Hope to met Maggie next visit.
